It figures to be a high-scoring affair when the New Orleans Pelicans (9-7, 5-3 Home) play host to the Golden State Warriors (8-9, 1-8 Away) on Monday. Golden State is playing the second of a back-to-back after topping the Houston Rockets 127-120 at Toyota Center yesterday. With 41 points, Klay Thompson was the scoring leader.
Stephen Curry chipped in with 33 points, 15 assists, and six rebounds. The Warriors are the 11th seed in the Western Conference. New Orleans came up short on Friday at Smoothie King Center, falling to the Boston Celtics 117-109. Brandon Ingram had 25 points and seven assists in the losing effort, leading the team. The Pelicans are eighth in the Western Conference.
The teams are meeting for the final time this season. New Orleans will be looking for a season sweep against Golden State after earning the win in the only previous game 114-105 at Smoothie King Center on November 4. Ingram led the Pelicans with 26 points, while Larry Nance Jr. added 20 points and eight rebounds.
Jordan Poole had 20 points in the loss. The Warriors have been led this season by Curry, who is averaging 32.3 points per game, best in the league. Curry also has dished 7.1 assists per game, most in the NBA. Meanwhile, Kevon Looney is grabbing 7.0 rebounds.
Ingram and CJ McCollum have powered the Pels’ offense, averaging 21.1 and 18.9 points per game, respectively. Ingram leads the NBA in scoring, while McCollum is first. McCollum also has recorded 6.4 assists per game, most in the NBA. Jonas Valanciunas has collected 9.1 rebounds per game.
