The Minnesota Timberwolves (26-25, 17-10 Home) will try to slow down the NBA’s top scoring team when they host the Sacramento Kings (27-20, 11-9 Away) on Saturday.
Sacramento was dismantled by the Toronto Raptors 113-95 at Golden 1 Center on Wednesday. Kevin Huerter led the way in the losing effort with 21 points.
The Kings are the third seed in the Western Conference. Minnesota is playing the second of a back-to-back after winning their third straight home game yesterday at Target Center, beating the Memphis Grizzlies 111-100.
Anthony Edwards led the team in scoring with 25 points. With 23 points and six assists, Kyle Anderson also produced a strong performance. The Timberwolves are the ninth seed in the Western Conference.
This is the first meeting of the season between the teams. Minnesota won two out of three games between the teams last season, though Sacramento triumphed 132-119 in the last meeting at Golden 1 Center in February 2022.
Harrison Barnes led the Kings with 30 points and eight rebounds. D’Angelo Russell had 29 points and 10 assists in defeat. The Kings have been led this season by De’Aaron Fox, who is averaging 23.8 points per game.
Meanwhile, Domantas Sabonis is contributing 12.4 rebounds, most in the NBA, and 7.3 assists per game. Edwards’ 24.5 points per game have powered the T’Wolves on offense.
Rudy Gobert is averaging 11.6 rebounds per game, third-most in the league, and Russell is tallying 6.3 assists.The Kings are averaging 119.7 points per game, ranking as the highest-scoring offense in the league.
The Kings have come up short more often than not in recent trips to Target Center, losing seven of the last 10. Sacramento is seeking a fourth straight road win this season. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are 4-4 when playing two days in a row this season and 4-2 with a rest disadvantage.
