The Phoenix Suns (21-22, 7-15 Away) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top shooting teams when they are on the road to face the Minnesota Timberwolves (20-22, 12-9 Home) on Friday. Phoenix was dismantled by the Denver Nuggets 126-97 at Ball Arena on Wednesday.
Torrey Craig had a standout performance in defeat with 16 points. The Suns are the seventh seed in the Western Conference. Minnesota dropped their last game on Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena, falling to the Detroit Pistons 135-118. Anthony Edwards recorded 20 points to top the scoresheet in defeat.
With 16 points and 14 rebounds, Rudy Gobert also impressed. The Timberwolves are the ninth seed in the Western Conference. This marks the final meeting of the season between the teams.
Phoenix will be seeking a season sweep against Minnesota after winning both of their earlier games, the most recent of which was a 129-117 victory at Target Center in November 2022, their sixth straight head-to-head victory.
Devin Booker led the Suns with 32 points, while Mikal Bridges played a key role with 31 points and nine rebounds. Gobert had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks in the losing effort. The Suns have been led this season by Deandre Ayton and Bridges, who are averaging 17.0 and 15.5 points per game, respectively.
Ayton also has grabbed 9.6 rebounds per game, while Bridges has dished 3.2 assists per game. Edwards has powered the T’Wolves’ offense, averaging 23.6 points per game.
Gobert is posting 12.0 rebounds per game, second-most in the league, and D’Angelo Russell is distributing 6.4 assists. The Timberwolves rank as one of the most accurate field goal shooting teams in the NBA, third-best at 49.1%.
