Minnesota got the win on Wednesday at Target Center, beating the San Antonio Spurs 134-122. Anthony Edwards had 34 points and nine assists to lead the team. The Timberwolves are ninth in the Western Conference.
This is the first meeting of the season between the teams. Minnesota won three out of four games between the teams last season, including a 124-104 triumph in their last meeting at Target Center on March 16. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 30 points, while Patrick Beverley was a key contributor with 18 points, six rebounds, and three blocks.
LeBron James had 19 points in defeat.James and Davis, averaging 25.3 and 24.0 points per game, respectively, have led the Lakers in scoring so far this season. James also is contributing 10.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game.
Edwards and Towns have powered the T’Wolves on offense, averaging 22.8 and 20.4 points per game, respectively. Rudy Gobert is collecting 14.0 rebounds per game, most in the NBA, and D’Angelo Russell is recording 6.2 assists. The Timberwolves rank as the most explosive offense in the league with 119.4 points per game. The Lakers have not found much success at Target Center in recent seasons, losing nine of the last 10 visits.
