The New York Knicks (42-31, 22-14 Away) will try to overcome one of the league’s top scoring defenses when they are on the road to face the Miami Heat (39-34, 24-13 Home) on Wednesday. New York lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 140-134 at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Julius Randle led the way in the losing effort with 57 points.
The Knicks are the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. Miami found victory on Sunday at Little Caesars Arena, beating the Detroit Pistons 112-100. Jimmy Butler had 26 points and 10 assists to lead the team. The Heat are seventh in the Eastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. New York will be seeking a season sweep against Miami after getting the win in both of their prior meetings, the last of which was a 122-120 victory at FTX Arena on March 3, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Randle led the Knicks with 43 points and nine rebounds. Butler had 33 points and eight rebounds in defeat. Randle and Jalen Brunson, averaging 25.6 and 23.8 points per game, respectively, are leading the Knicks in scoring this season.
Randle also has grabbed 10.2 rebounds per game, ninth-most in the NBA, while Brunson has dished 6.2 assists per game. Butler (22.7 ppg), Bam Adebayo (21.1), and Tyler Herro (20.2) have been the primary providers of the Heat’s offense.
Adebayo also has pulled down 9.4 rebounds per game, while Butler has distributed 5.1 assists per game. The Heat rank as one of the best scoring defenses in the league, second-best with 109.5 points per game allowed. The Knicks are 4-6 in their last 10 visits to FTX Arena.
