The Memphis Grizzlies (42-27, 28-5 Home) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top scoring teams when they welcome the Golden State Warriors (36-35, 7-28 Away) on Saturday. Both teams will be playing the second of a back-to-back. The Warriors are 7-7 without rest, while the Grizzlies are 5-4.
Golden State dropped their last game against the Atlanta Hawks 127-119 at State Farm Arena yesterday, their 10th straight loss away from home. With 31 points, Stephen Curry was the scoring leader in the loss. Kevon Looney added 18 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks, and three assists.
The Warriors are sixth in the Western Conference. Memphis got the win yesterday at AT&T Center, beating the San Antonio Spurs 126-120 in overtime. Jaren Jackson Jr. recorded 28 points to lead the team in scoring. With 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, Tyus Jones also played a part.
The Grizzlies are third in the Western Conference. This is the final meeting of the season between the teams. Memphis will be looking to even the season series after winning only one of the three earlier games, including a 131-110 victory at FedExForum on March 9.
Jones led the Grizzlies with 22 points and 11 assists. Curry had 29 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, averaging 22.0 and 20.4 points per game, respectively, have led the Warriors in scoring this season.
Meanwhile, Looney is grabbing 9.2 rebounds per game, and Draymond Green is dishing 6.7 assists. Ja Morant has been the primary provider for the Grizzlies on offense, averaging 27.1 points per game. He ranks as the eighth-highest scorer in the NBA. Morant also has distributed 8.2 assists per game, sixth-most in the league.
Jackson Jr. has pulled down 6.6 rebounds per game. The Warriors are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, ranking second with 118.3 points per game.
The Grizzlies have found success in recent meetings between the teams at FedExForum, winning seven of the last 10. Memphis is looking for an eighth straight home win this season.
