Oklahoma City Thunder @ Minnesota Timberwolves – 8PM ET

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves will open the season against each other here on Wednesday evening. Both of these teams will be looking to get their season started off on the right foot. Last season the Thunder were towards the bottom of the standings, while the Timberwolves were a playoff team.

Tony Battalio

The Oklahoma City Thunder were not very successful last season but they have a ton of young talent that could help them turn it around this year. However, they will be without first round pick Chet Holmgren after he was injured playing a pick up game over the summer and will miss the entire season. However, the Oklahoma City Thunder should still be a much improved team this season and likely won’t finish towards the bottom of the NBA standings.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to be one of the best teams in the NBA this season after their addition of Rudy Gobert over the offseason. Pairing him with Karl Anthony Towns creates one of the best front counts in all of the National Basketball Association. They should have no problem grabbing the win in the first game of the 2022-23 NBA season.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Minnesota Timberwolves (-550)

Charlotte Hornets @ San Antonio Spurs – 8PM ET

The Charlotte Hornets and San Antonio Spurs will open the season against each other here on Wednesday evening. Both of these teams will be looking to get their season started off on the right foot. Last season the Spurs were towards the bottom of the standings, while the Hornets were nearly a playoff team.

Tony Battalio

The Charlotte Hornets are loaded with young talent and have the opportunity to make the next step this season as long as all of their key pieces can remain healthy. Last season they finished the year with a record of 43-39 and made the play in. Lamelo Ball and Terry Rozier will be the key to this teams success and if they play anywhere close to like they did last year the Charlotte Hornets are going to have a successful season.

The San Antonio Spurs are likely to be one of the worst teams in the National Basketball Association once again this season. Last season they finished with a record of 34-48 and only made the play-in because of how weak the Western Conference was. They made zero notable upgrades over the offseason and I think the Charlotte Hornets will easily pick up the victory here in this game.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Charlotte Hornets (-110)

Denver Nuggets @ Utah Jazz – 9PM ET

The Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz will open the season against each other here on Wednesday evening. Both of these teams will be looking to get their season started off on the right foot. Last season both of these teams qualified for the NBA playoffs, however neither of them won the title.

Tony Battalio

The Denver Nuggets should be one of the top teams in the Western Conference this season, as they are led by the two time reigning and defending National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player award winner Nikola Jokic. Denver finished last season with a record of 48-34 as they finished one game behind this same Utah Jazz team in the Northwest Division title race.

The Utah Jazz went through a full rebuild over the offseason as they traded away both of their stars and kept only Mike Conley. Now Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell are both with new teams the Jazz are expected to regress big time this upcoming season. The Denver Nuggets should have no problem picking up the victory in this season opening game.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Denver Nuggets (-300)

Dallas Mavericks @ Phoenix Suns – 10PM ET

The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns will open the season against each other here on Wednesday evening. Both of these teams will be looking to get their season started off on the right foot. Last season both of these teams qualified for the NBA playoffs, however neither of them won the title.

Tony Battalio

This is going to be one of the best games of the evening as the Dallas Mavericks are set to take on the Phoenix Suns to open up the 2022-23 National Basketball Association season. Both of these teams qualified for the playoffs last season but neither of them managed to make it all the way to the NBA finals, as they were both defeated by the eventual NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs.

The Mavericks and Suns both featured some of the top talent in the league as Luka Doncic and Devin Booker will go head to head in this huge season opening game. When the final whistle blows this is a game that could see both teams scoring in the triple digits. However, what matters the most in the final score and I think it’ll be the Dallas Mavericks who pull out the victory in the first game of the season.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Dallas Mavericks (+150)

Portland Trail Blazers @ Sacramento Kings – 10PM ET

The Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings will open the season against each other here on Wednesday evening. Both of these teams will be looking to get their season started off on the right foot. Last season neither of these teams qualified for the NBA playoffs and both finished towards the bottom of the league.

Tony Battalio

The Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings were both towards the bottom of the standings last season. However, the Trail Blazers can attribute it to the fact that they were without Dame Lillard for the majority of the season and also traded away CJ McCollum. They have a much brighter future than the Sacramento Kings do as long as their key pieces can remain healthy this season.

The Sacramentos Kings still have a long way to go in their rebuilding efforts if they want to be a contending team in the National Basketball Association over the next few seasons. However, I still expect this game to be a competitive one, but in the end I look for the Portland Trail Blazers to come away with the victory to open up the season.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Portland Trail Blazers (+120)
