Boston Celtics @ Golden State Warriors – 9pm ET

We head into Game 5 of the NBA Finals series between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors all tied up at 2-2. The Warriors got the all important win in Game 4 on the road to level the series. Can the Warriors get another win in the series to make it 3-2, or will the Celtics strike back instantly?

Jeffery Thomas

The 2022 NBA Finals is shifting back to the Bay all knotted up at 2 a piece after the Warriors escaped Boston with a 107-97 victory in Game 4. That win was due in large part to a historic game by Steph Curry who dropped 43 points in that must-win situation. Now the Warriors will host Game 5 and try and build on their 10-1 record at home in the postseason. The problem with that is how good Boston is off of losses and how good they’ve been away from home. The Celtics have yet to lose a game following a loss and are 8-3 on the road these playoffs.

It’s a true test of strength vs. strength and I like the Cs to pull out ahead in this series on Monday for a few reasons. They had Game 4 won but it took a superhuman performance from Steph to beat them and I don’t think we can bank on that happening again. Also Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum went eerily ghost at the end of that loss in Game 4, neither attempting a shot in the final 3 minutes. I think now with things back even they’ll see the importance of this game and be a lot more aggressive, setting them up for a chance to win the title on their home floor in Game 6.

Jeffery’s NBA Pick: Boston Celtics (+142)

Noah Dunlap

These NBA Finals have been wild, and at this point, I’m not sure anyone knows what to expect. With Boston taking Game 1, there were a lot of people who thought it was theirs to lose, as they did following a Celtics win in Game 3, as well. However, with them letting Golden State up off the mat with a banged up Steph Curry going for 43 and 10 on the road in a Game 4 win, I actually think this whole series has shifted. With the Golden State Warriors having been the kings of the NBA for much of the past seven seasons or so, and with us all knowing the old adage of “if you come for the king, you better not miss”, I think that applies here. The Boston Celtics had the chance to pin the Dubs against the ropes, and instead they let them back in it, and I think that proves to be a problem.

Steph has been masterful throughout this series, and while the combination of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has been good for Boston, with them letting Golden State gain some momentum heading back to the Bay for Game 5, I like the Warriors to take full advantage and get the win. It may be close, but at this point, I’m not betting against the Dubs. Steph has another big night, as Golden State gets an eight point win to take a 3-2 series lead, putting them one win away from yet another title with this core group.

Noah’s NBA Pick: Golden State Warriors -4 (-108)

Tony Battalio

The Boston Celtics will be looking to bounce back after their loss in Game 4. They return to California for Game 5 with this series tied at two games a piece. Jayson Tatum scored 23 points but he will have to be better in Game 5 if the Celtics want to take a 3-2 lead over the Golden State Warriors. They have already won one game at Golden State and they will be looking to steal another one here.

The Golden State Warriors on the verge of adding another title to their already impressive dynasty over the last seven years. Curry has gone insane over the course of this series and is likely going to win his first Finals MVP if the Warriors win this series. However, as for the result of this game, I am going with the Boston Celtics to get the win.

Tony’s NBA Pick: Boston Celtics (+142)
