Boston Celtics @ Miami Heat – 8.30pm ET

The Boston Celtics couldn’t get the job done against the Miami Heat in Game 6 at home, so now they have to travel to Miami and try again on the road. It was a great game by the Heat, who almost always kept the Celtics at an arm’s length, and they ended up winning, 111-103.

The Boston Celtics missed out on the opportunity to close the series at home and make the NBA Finals, and now will have to travel to Miami for a do-or-die Game 7. Jimmy Butler was in a zone facing elimination, dropping a playoff career-high 47 points in the win and adding 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Kyle Lowry provided some help as well, dropping 15 points and 10 assists before fouling out late in the game. Jayson Tatum scored well, getting 30 points, but was too careless with the ball, turning it over seven times.

This game will be very entertaining and I can’t wait to see how the Boston Celtics respond to the loss in this situation. The Celtics are 5-0 following a loss in these playoffs and every win has been by 8 or more points. There’s no way Marcus Smart and Al Horford combine for 5-23 shooting again and Miami needed nearly 50 points from Jimmy Butler just to barely win in Game 6. Boston is the better team and the better team will be rewarded with a trip to the NBA Finals on Sunday night.

Jeffery’s NBA Pick: Boston Celtics (-136)

Noah Dunlap

We’ve reached a Game 7 in what has turned out to be a wild Eastern Conference Finals series between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. The Celtics looked like they were in total control of the series after Game 5, as they had dominated Games 4 and 5, with their defense slowing down the Miami offense, and making them look silly at times. Then, with a chance to close out the series at home, and with the Heat being without Tyler Herro, they slipped up on Friday night, letting Miami tie the series at three games each behind a huge night from Jimmy Butler, getting us to this point, which is a Game 7 in South Beach. So who comes out on top, and manages to advance to the NBA Finals? For Boston, the key is a better defensive effort, and finding a way to get a better effort from guys like Marcus Smart and Al Horford.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both had solid Game 6’s, but they weren’t able to get enough help to get past a Jimmy Butler performance that was out of this world. They’ve shown throughout the series that if they get help from Smart they’re probably a better team, so they’ll need a better game from here if they want to advance. On the Miami side, the key is obviously Jimmy Butler. If he can put together a similar performance, then they’ll be in good shape, but that’s asking a lot. They’re also going to need Kyle Lowry to play well, as he did in Game 6, and a big time performance from Bam Adebayo as well, especially with Tyler Herro potentially being out for this one, as well. In the end, I’m taking Miami here, largely due to the home court advantage they’ll get with this being a Game 7. It stays close, but take the Heat to get it done down the stretch.

Noah’s NBA Pick: Miami Heat (+118)

Tony Battalio

This has been an incredible Eastern Conference Finals series as the Miami Heat have battled back from being down several times along the way. Now they have found themselves in a winner take all Game 7 as they look to make their second trip to the NBA Finals in the last three seasons. They had a strong regular season as they finished in first place of the Eastern Conference and will have the luxury of playing at home in this game.

The Boston Celtics have been close many many times over the last decade or so. Now they have their best chance yet to make a NBA Finals run and meet the Golden State Warriors next week. They are only one win away, but if Game 6 showed anything, they still have a long way to go if they want to get a win here in Game 7 in South Beach. As for the result of this game, I have the Miami Heat getting the win over the Boston Celtics in South Beach to advance to the NBA Finals.

Tony’s NBA Pick: Miami Heat (+118)
