Dallas dropped a close one on Wednesday at Footprint Center, falling to the Phoenix Suns 107-105. Luka Doncic had 35 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in the loss to lead the team. Dallas won three out of four games between the teams last season, including a 104-91 triumph in their last meeting at American Airlines Center on January 23, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Doncic led the Mavericks with 37 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Morant had 35 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists in the loss. Morant is averaging 41.5 points per game, best in the NBA, to lead the Grizzlies in scoring so far this season. Morant also has dished 8.5 assists per game, seventh-most in the league. Meanwhile, Steven Adams is grabbing 11.5 rebounds.
Doncic supplied much of the Mavs’ offense last season, averaging 28.4 points per game. He had the fifth-best scoring average in the league. Doncic also stuffed the stat sheet with 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. The Mavericks have found success in the Grizzlies’ last 10 visits to American Airlines Center, winning six.
