The Denver Nuggets (47-24, 17-18 Away) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top shooting teams when they head to face the Brooklyn Nets (39-31, 19-13 Home) on Sunday. Denver is playing on back-to-back days after getting beaten by the New York Knicks 116-110 at Madison Square Garden yesterday.
Jamal Murray led the way in the losing effort with 25 points and six assists. The Nuggets are 4.5 games ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies atop the Western Conference, currently sitting in first. Brooklyn dropped their last game on Thursday at Barclays Center, falling to the Sacramento Kings 101-96.
Mikal Bridges topped the scoresheet in the loss with 23 points. With 14 points and 14 rebounds, Nic Claxton also had a strong game. The Nets are sixth in the Eastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the final time this season. Brooklyn will be pursuing a season sweep against Denver after coming out on top in the only previous matchup 122-120 at Ball Arena on Sunday.
Nikola Jokic had a triple double to top all players in scoring with 35 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists in defeat. Bridges had 25 points for the Nets, while Claxton was a key contributor with 20 points and five assists. The Nuggets have been led this season by Jokic, who is averaging 24.8 points per game.
Jokic also is contributing 11.8 rebounds and 9.9 assists per game, placing him third and fourth in the NBA, respectively. Claxton has supplied much of the Nets’ offense, averaging 12.5 points per game. Claxton also has averaged 9.2 rebounds per game.
Royce O’Neale has distributed 3.7 assists per game. The Nuggets rank as the NBA’s most accurate field goal shooting team at 50.8%. The Nuggets are 3-7 in their last 10 visits to Barclays Center.
