The NBA continues to pick up steam in the lead up to the playoffs and so do we! Just the three games to look forward to tonight, but they’re good ones as the league-leading Bucks take on Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets in Denver and the reigning-champion Raptors visit Utah to take on the Jazz.

Charlotte Hornets @ Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks might be well out of playoff contention, but they’ve turned themselves in a solid home team lately and should be way too good for a flailing Hornets team.
Atlanta might be just 13-19 at home, but they have won eight of their last 11 games at State Farm Arena. Remarkably, the Hawks are the second best team in the NBA against the spread as a home favorite, with a 4-2-1 record (66.7%). While that’s a small sample size, overall the Hawks are 19-12-1 at home this season (61.3%) – the third highest mark in the NBA.
These two teams have only played once this season, with the Hawks pulling off a 122-107 victory in Charlotte on Nov. 8. Trae Young had 30 points and nine assists in that game for Atlanta, with P.J. Washington and Miles Bridges each getting 20 for the Hornets.

Milwaukee Bucks @ Denver Nuggets

Nuggets -3.5
On the second leg of a back-to-back, without the services of the league’s best player and coming off a shocking loss last night, the Bucks are ripe for the picking.
Milwaukee – who were on track at one stage to finish the year with 70+ wins – have lost three of their last four, and are coming in to this game off a 140-131 shellacking by the Phoenix Suns. They played without MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo because of a minor knee sprain. Injured Friday night in a loss at the Los Angeles Lakers, he’ll also sit out tonight’s game.
Obviously, that’s a huge blow, particularly given the Bucks are 6-13-1 ATS in the last 20 meetings in Denver. The Nuggets aren’t playing like the greatest team in the NBA, but on average this season they’re beating teams by nearly 6 points per game at home.
The change in altitude teams endure when going to Denver is never good at the best of times, but it’s particularly bad on a back-to-back. Without Giannis we can’t see the Bucks getting up for this one.

Toronto Raptors @ Utah Jazz

Jazz -3.5
Like the Bucks, the Raptors come in to this one on the second leg of a back-to-back, while the Jazz are rested and ready to go.
Utah are on fire at the moment, winning each of their last five and holding their last three opponents to scores of just 104, 94, and 105 points respectively.
The Raptors, meanwhile, have won their last three games after losing in Denver to kick off this current five-game road trip. It’s been a tough spell though, with hardfought games in Phoenix, Golden State and last night’s tight 118-113 win in Sacramento, which required 11 points from Pascal Siakam in the final 2 and a half minutes to pull Toronto over the line.
