The San Francisco Giants (24-24) are in for a challenge against Joe Ryan at Target Field on Wednesday when the impressive right-hander takes the mound for the Minnesota Twins (25-24) with the visitors eyeing a sweep of the three-game Interleague series.
The Giants lead the series 2-0 after winning 4-3 on Tuesday. Alex Cobb got the win, allowing three runs on six hits over seven innings and striking out eight, and Camilo Doval struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 13th save.

Anthony DeSclafani (3-3, 3.09 ERA) is set for the start for San Francisco. The righty allowed two runs over 5.1 innings in his last start, a 4-3 road win over the Marlins on Friday. He scattered five hits while striking out six and walking two in the no-decision.
Righty Ryan (6-1, 2.25 ERA) is on the mound for Minnesota. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Giants. Ryan made one start against the Giants in 2022, throwing six innings in a 9-0 home win on August 26.
He gave up two hits and walked three, while striking out eight in the win. In his last start on Friday, Ryan took a no-decision on the road against the Angels.
He threw six innings and gave up three runs (2 ER) on seven hits, striking out nine and walking one in the 5-4 defeat. The RHP is tied for second in the AL in wins and fifth in ERA.
