Pittsburgh Pirates @ Washington Nationals – 1:05PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one the Nationals got the victory and in game two the Nationals secured the series victory. Now they will be looking to complete the sweep.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially lost yet another series so far this season. As they dropped the first two games of this three game set to the Washington Nationals on Monday and Tuesday. The losses have brought their record to 29-45 through their first 74 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They will be looking to grab a win in the finale to salvage at least a tiny bit of momentum before coming home to play Milwaukee over the weekend.

The Washington Nationals will be looking to finish off the three game sweep on Wednesday afternoon. The Nationals won the first two games of this series by a combined score of 6-3. They now come into this finale with a record of 28-48 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a three game winning streak as they have won six out of their last ten games on the year. As for the result of this game I am going with the Nationals to finish off the sweep.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Washington Nationals (-150)

The Washington Nationals have now taken the first two games of this series with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will go for the sweep on Wednesday at home. Patrick Corbin snapped a personal two-game losing streak by pitching 8 strong innings and striking out 12 batters. The Pirates have now lost five games in a row and it’s another game where the offense was a no-show.

Until they show some type of pop at the plate for a consistent number of games, I can’t back them with any confidence even against a team as bad as the Washington Nationals. Washington at least has some good power in their lineup and decent enough arms in their rotation to take advantage of these games and stack up some wins. That’s exactly what they will do on Wednesday when they finish off this sweep, which will be their first of the season.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 29-48 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off back-to-back wins over the Pirates in the first two games of the series. The Nationals are 24th in the league scoring 4.11 runs per game and are 29th in the league allowing 5.55 runs per game. Washington will start Paolo Espino tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 2.21 ERA. The Nationals have won the last 4 games against teams with a losing record under 40% and 7 of the last 8 games against teams from the NL Central.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 29-45 record. They have lost the last 5 games including the last two against the Nationals. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.70 runs per game and 25th allowing 5.12 runs per game. They will start Mitch Keller tonight who is 2-5 for the season with a 4.77 ERA. The Pirates have lost 43 of the last 53 third games of a series and 7 of the last 8 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Pittsburgh Pirates (+125)

Houston Astros @ New York Mets – 1:10PM ET

The Houston Astros and New York Mets will be playing the second game of their short two game series in this one. In game number it was the Astros who got the win. Now they will be looking to complete the sweep in game two.

Tony Battalio

The Houston Astros have now won all three games they have played against the New York Mets this season. When they take the field on Wednesday afternoon not only will they be looking for the series sweep, they will be looking for the season sweep as well. They have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball so far this season as they come into this game with a record of 46-27 through their first 73 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The New York Mets just can’t seem to find a way to beat the Houston Astros so far this season. This will be their last opportunity here in Wednesday’s finale, at least in the regular season. As these two first place teams could always end up meeting again in the World Series in November. The Mets have been out scored by seventeen runs in three games against Houston, as the total tally sits at 22-5 in favor of the Astros. As for the result of this game I expect more of the same as I look for the Houston Astros to get yet another win over the Mets

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Houston Astros (-140)

Jeffery Thomas

The Houston Astros and New York Mets will be wrapping up their quick two-game series on Wednesday after the Astros rocked the Mets at home in game one. Houston put up a total of 9 runs in the blowout victory for their ninth win in the last twelve games. It was another lackluster performance from the Mets at the plate and they have now lost all three of their meetings with the Astros in the last week.

Wednesday afternoon is their last chance to salvage a win but it’s going to be tough sledding against Justin Verlander. The veteran is 9-3 on the season with a 2.22 ERA and given how bad this matchup has been for the Mets recently there’s no reason to believe they’ll turn things around in this series finale.

Houston Astros (-140)

The New York Mets are on top of the NL East with a 47-28 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games including the last two. The Mets are third in the league scoring 4.96 runs per game and are ranked 12th in the league allowing 4.16 runs per game. Taijuan Walker will start for the Mets tonight who is 6-2 for the season with a 3.03 ERA. The Mets have won 6 of the last 7 games against left-handed starting pitcher and 23 of the last 32 home games.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 46-27 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 9-1 win in the series opener against the New York Mets. The Astros are 18th scoring 4.43 runs per game and are ranked third in the league allowing 3.46 runs per game. Houston will start Justin Verlander tonight who is 9-3 for the season with a 2.22 ERA. The Astros have won 8 of the last 9 road games against right-handed starting pitcher and 10 of the last 14 road games overall.

New York Mets (+115)

Texas Rangers @ Kansas City Royals – 2:10PM ET

The Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one the Rangers got the victory and in game two the Rangers clinched the series victory. Now they will be going for the sweep in Wednesday’s finale.

Tony Battalio

The Texas Rangers are coming into this game having already clinched the series against the Royals through the first two games on Monday and Tuesday. Now they will be looking to finish off the sweep here on Wednesday afternoon. The Rangers come into this game with a record of 36-37 through their first 73 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are slowly inching their way back to .500 again after a terrible start and this time they would prefer to stay there and above that .500 mark.

The Kansas City Royals will be looking to salvage some momentum in this three game series and win the finale on Wednesday. They are in the midst of an absolutely terrible season; these two losses to the Rangers just continue to pile onto the misery and mistakes. They come into this game with a record of 26-47 through their first 73 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. However, as for the result of this game I am going with the Rangers to complete the sweep.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Texas Rangers (-120)

Jeffery Thomas

It’s been a successful trip to Kansas City so far for the Texas Rangers who have now taken the first two games of this series with the Royals. Tuesday’s contest was another big offensive night for the Rangers who put up 10 in the series opener and followed that up with a 7 spot on Tuesday. The pitching was dominant as well, making it a perfectly executed game for Texas who is trying to work themselves back to .500 on the season (now 36-37).

The Royals have now lost four straight games and continue to fall further down the standings. They are currently occupying the last-place spot in the AL Central at 26-47 with no hopes of improving anytime soon. The form as of late goes all to the Rangers and their hot offense now gets to face the over the hell Zack Greinke who has just one win on the year. I like Texas to finish off this sweep in emphatic fashion Wednesday afternoon.

The Kansas City Royals are on the bottom of the AL Central with a 26-47 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games including the first two of the series against the Texas Rangers. Kansas City is ranked 27th in the league scoring only 3.94 runs per game and 27th allowing 5.40 runs per game. The Royals will start Zach Greinke tonight who is 1-4 for the season with a 4.68 ERA. Kansas City has 20 of the last 28 home games and 4 of the last 5 games against teams with a losing record.

The Texas Rangers are second in the AL West with a 36-37 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games including the first two of the series against the Royals scoring a total of 18 runs in those two. The Rangers are 16th in the league scoring 4.48 runs per game and are ranked 14th in the league allowing 4.29 runs per game. The Rangers will start Dane Dunning who is 1-5 for the season with a 4.17 ERA. Texas has won 5 of the last 7 games against teams from the AL Central and has lost 6 of the last 7 third games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Kansas City Royals (+100)

San Diego Padres @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 3:40PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks will be playing the second game of their short two game series in this one. In game number it was the Diamondbacks who got the win. Now they will be looking to complete the sweep in game two.

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres will now be looking to bounce back after their tough loss in game one of this series. The loss drops their record on the year down to 45-31 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Diamondbacks got a huge win in game one of this series and now they are set up to complete the sweep here in game two. They come into this game with a record of 34-41 through their first 75 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As for the result of this game I have the Padres getting the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

San Diego Padres (-135)

Jeffery Thomas

The Arizona Diamondbacks rallied from a 6-0 deficit entering the seventh inning to win the game 7-6 on a game-winning fielders choice in the bottom of the ninth. It was the second consecutive win for Arizona following a 6-game losing streak that ended on Sunday when they beat the Detroit Tigers 11-7. This loss was just another in a bad stretch of baseball for the San Diego Padres who have now dropped 4 of their last 5 games and have slipped to second place in the NL West.

The defeat on Tuesday was one that you usually don’t see and I’m not expecting Arizona’s comeback luck to translate over into Wednesday’s game. The Padres are the much better team and should have similar success against Madison Bumgarner as their June 22 game when they chased him in the 5th inning and won 10-4. Give me the Padres to bounce back and snap the losing streak.

San Diego Padres (-135)

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West with a 34-41 record. They have lost 5 of the last 7 games but are coming off back-to-back wins over Detroit and San Diego. The Diamondbacks are 22nd in the league scoring 4.14 runs per game and 23rd allowing 4.80 runs per game. Arizona will start Madison Bumgarner tonight who is 3-7 for the season with a 3.75 ERA. Arizona has lost 5 of the last 7 games against teams with a winning record and the last 7 second games of a series.

The San Diego Padres are second in the NL West with a 45-31 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 7-6 loss in the series opener against the Diamondbacks. The Padres are 10th in the league scoring 4.63 runs per game and are 4th in the league allowing 3.78 runs per game. San Diego will start Mike Clevinger tonight who is 1-0 for the season with a 3.52 ERA. The Padres have won 6 of the last 7 second games of a series and 7 of the last 10 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

San Diego Padres (-135)

Detroit Tigers @ San Francisco Giants – 3:45PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants will be playing the second game of their short two game series in this one. In game number one it was the Giants who got the win. Now they will be looking to complete the sweep in game two.

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Tigers will now be looking to bounce back after their tough loss in game one of this series. The loss drops their record on the year down to 28-45 through their first 73 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Giants got a huge win in game one of this series and now they are set up to complete the sweep here in game two. They come into this game with a record of 40-33 through their first 73 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As for the result of this game I have the Giants getting the win.

Jeffery Thomas

The series opener for the Detroit Tigers against the San Francisco Giants resulted in a tough loss for the visiting Tigers who fell 4-3. It was another great performance on the mound for Giants starter Carlos Rodon who pitched six strong innings, only giving up 1 run and recording win number seven on the year. Rodon hasn’t lost a start since way back on May 27th against Cincinnati and has turned into one of the most reliable guys in their rotation.

Alex Wood is getting the start for them on Wednesday and has been anything but reliable this season. He only went one inning in his last outing, where he gave up 6 earned runs and is just 5-6 on the year with a 5.05 ERA. Good news for him is that this Tigers offense presents very little threat and he is at home where he has had some of his hat results. Look for him to be just good enough to lead his guys to a multi-run victory.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

San Francisco Giants -1.5 (+100)

Marko Nadin

The San Francisco Giants are third in the NL West with a 40-33 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games but are coming off a 4-3 win over the Tigers in the series opener. The Giants are the fourth-best offensive team in the league scoring 4.95 runs per game and are ranked 17th in the league allowing 4.39 runs per game. They will start Alex Wood tonight who is 5-6 for the season with a 5.05 ERA. San Francisco has won the last 8 second games of a series and 8 of the last 10 interleague games against teams with a losing record.

The Detroit Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with a 28-45 record. They have lost 5 of the last 7 including last night to the Giants. The Tigers are the worst offensive team in the league scoring only 3.09 runs per game and are ranked 21st in the league allowing 4.48 runs per game. Rony Garcia will start tonight for the Tigers who is 2-2 for the season with a 4.57 ERA so far in the season. Detroit has won 4 of the last 5 interleague games and has lost 22 of the last 31 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

San Francisco Giants (-200)
