Cleveland Guardians @ Detroit Tigers -1:10PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game series in this one. In game number one it was the Detroit Tigers who got the win. In game number two the Tigers added another victory to clinch at least a share of the series. In game three the Tigers added yet another win.

The Cleveland Guardians are in a bad spot at the moment as they have lost five out of their last six games since Saturday afternoon. They have played two doubleheaders in that span and they are in desperate need of a day off at this point. They are come into this game with a record of 40-39 through their first 79 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season as they are barely treading water and only a game above the ,500 mark at the moment. 

The Detroit Tigers are in the position to sweep their American League Central division rivals in this four game series. Despite the recent success they are still having a rough season as they come into this game with a record of 33-47 through their first 80 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a three game winning streak at the moment as they have won six out of their last ten games on the year. However, I have them losing this series finale.

It’s been a rough start to this AL Central series with the Detroit Tigers as the Cleveland Guardians will need to win on Wednesday to avoid being swept. It’s actually been a rough month of July all together as they now sit with a record of 1-5 since the calendar flipped. Cal Quantrill was tagged with the loss for Cleveland and now has a 4-5 record and hasn’t won a start since June 12. 

Shane Beiber will take the mound for Cleveland in the finale and try to stop the bleeding and I think he is the right man for the job. The Guardians are still the better team and in Shane’s career at Comerica Park he is 6-1 with a 1.79 ERA. I like Cleveland to salvage at least one win in this series so I’m rolling with them here.

The Detroit Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with a 33-47 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 and will have a chance to sweep the Guardians tonight in the four-game series. The Tigers are the worst offensive team in the league scoring only 3.23 runs per game and are ranked 17th in the league allowing 4.37 runs per game. Michael Pineda will start tonight for the Tigers who is 1-3 for the season with a 3.62 ERA so far in the season. Detroit has won 4 of the last 5 home games against teams with a winning record and have lost 37 of the last 52 fourth games in a series.

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 40-39 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games including the last three against the Tigers. Cleveland is 19th in the league scoring 4.35 runs per game and is ranked 19th in the league allowing 4.48 runs per game. The Guardians will start Shane Bieber tonight who is 3-4 for the season with a 3.16 ERA. Cleveland has won 13 of the last 19 games against teams with a losing record and the last five games played on Wednesday.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Oakland Athletics – 3:37PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one the Oakland Athletics got the win. In game number two the Athletics got another win to clinch the series and set up the opportunity to get a sweep.

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming into this game on a huge five game losing streak at the moment and with the way they are playing there seems to be no end in sight. They come into this game currently occupying the third wildcard spot as they lead the Cleveland Guardians by 2.5 games at the moment. They have a record of 44-38 through their first 82 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost six out of their last ten on the season.

The Oakland Athletics have gotten a huge series win to open up the second week of July. However, they are still having a rough year as they come into this game sitting in last place of the American League West division. The Athletics are coming into this game with a record of 28-55 through their first 83 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a two game winning streak and have won four out their last ten games on the year. I have them getting the win here in the series finale to complete the sweep as well.

The losing streak continued for the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday when the Oakland Athletics got a 5-3 win over them to secure their first series win at home in nearly three months. The losing streak now sits at 5 games as the Jays are just trying to find out where things went wrong. That search looks like it can start and end with the offense that is averaging under three runs a game in this span. They’ll get a good chance to break out of that slump on Wednesday against the As starter James Kaprielian who is 1-5 on the year with a 5.43 ERA.

Two of his last three starts at home have resulted in him giving up 5 or more runs so something has to give here. That stat paired with the struggles of Jay’s starter Jose Berrios has me looking at the total of 8 and loving the over. Even a bad or struggling offense can run into some success every now and then, and what better time than now against some pitchers in bad form.

The Oakland Athletics are at the bottom of the AL West with a 28-55 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off back-to-back wins over the Blue Jays. The Athletics are second to last in the league scoring 3.27 runs per game and are 22nd in the league allowing 4.68 runs per game. Oakland will start James Kaprielian who is 1-5 for the season with 5.43 ERA. The Athletics have lost 42 of the last 59 home games and 4 of the last 6 home games against a team with a winning record.

The Toronto Blue Jays are fourth in the AL East with a 44-38 record. They have lost the last 5 games which is their longest losing streak of the season. The Blue Jays are 7th in the league scoring 4.76 runs per game and are ranked 20th with 4.51 allowed runs per game. Toronto will start Jose Berrios tonight who is 6-4 for the season with a 5.72 ERA. New York Mets @ Cincinnati Reds – 6:40PM ET

The New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one the New York Mets got the win. In game number two the Reds got a huge win to even up the series.

The New York Mets are coming into this game looking to win this three game series with a record of 50-31 through the halfway point of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are only the second team in the National League to hit 50 wins after the Los Angeles Dodgers who have 51. They are currently on a one game losing streak and have lost five out of their last ten games on the year. They currently have a 2.5 game lead in the National League East division at the moment but if their hitting doesn’t pick up it may not last long. 

The Cincinnati Reds have the chance to grab some momentum and get a huge series win to open up the second week of July. They come into this game with a record of 28-52 through their first 80 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are on a one game winning streak at the moment and have won four out of their last ten games on the year. They are in last place of the National League Central as they are 17.5 games out of first place. However, I have the Mets picking up the win in this one. 

Jeffery Thomas

It was the long awaited return from injury for Max Scherzer on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds and he did not disappoint. He pitched 6 strong innings, only allowing two hits while striking out 11 batters but was given a no-decision due to the lack of run support from his batters. The Mets also lost the game 1-0, being shut out for the second time in six games. Mike Moustakas hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 9th to give the Reds a split of the first two games of this series. 

It will all be decided in the finale on Wednesday and I think New York will be able to sustain their pitching performance from Game 2. David Peterson is 5-1 on the year with a 3.24 ERA and hasn’t lost a road start all season. Bad teams don’t usually back up their wins with more wins and I think this is a good spot to fade the Reds coming off a rare win. Give me the Mets in a bounce-back spot on the road to take care of business.

Cincinnati is 18th in the league scoring 4.39 runs per game and is ranked 30th in the league allowing 5.68 runs per game. The Reds will start Graham Aschraft tonight who is 4-2 for the season with a 4.53 ERA. Cincinnati has lost 25 of the last 35 games after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game and 4 of the last 5 games following a win.

The New York Mets are on top of the NL East with a 50-31 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are tied at one game apiece in the series against the Reds. The Mets are 4th in the league scoring 4.82 runs per game and are ranked 10th in the league allowing 4.08 runs per game. David Peterson will start for the Mets tonight who is 5-1 for the season with a 3.24 ERA. Los Angeles Angels @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and Miami Marlins will be playing the second game of their short two game series. This is the second and final time these two teams will meet this season. Coming into game number four of four between them the Angels lead the series two games to one.

The Miami Marlins got a big win on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Angels. Now they will look to secure a share of the season series when they face them for the last time on Wednesday evening. They come into this game with a record of 39-40 through their first 79 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball. They are currently on a six game winning streak at the moment as they are ten games back of first place in the National League East. They have won seven out of their last ten games on the year. 

The Los Angeles Angels are struggling big time lately. After a fast start to the year they have fallen under .500 and are struggling to get wins at the moment. They come into this game with a record of 37-45 through their first 81 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in fourth place of the American League West division as they are seventeen games behind the Houston Astros at the moment. I have them losing the finale of their series as well.

The Miami Marlins had their most reliable guy on the mound for them on Tuesday and he proved once again why he is their ace. Sandy Alcantara was dominant for the second straight start, this time going 8 innings and only allowing two hits and striking out 10. It’s his 11th consecutive outing where he went at least seven innings and with this performance his ERA dropped to 1.82 and record to 9-3. 

The Angels are now 0-4 in July and have only scored more than one run in 1 of those games (4-2 loss on Sunday to Houston). Shohei Ohtani is getting the start on Wednesday to try and end this winning streak but it’s not the pitching that is the problem. I can’t pick them to win any games at the moment with the way their offense is performing, especially against this Miami team that is on a six-game winning streak. I’m rolling with the hot team to keep the winning ways going at home.

Trevor Rogers will start for the Marlins tonight who is 4-6 for the season with a 5.56 ERA. Miami has won the last 8 home games against teams with a losing record and 4 of the last 5 games when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Los Angeles Angels are fourth in the AL West with a 37-45 record. They have lost the last four games and have not scored more than 2 runs in each of those losses The Angels are 24th in the league scoring 4.12 runs per game and 15th in the league allowing 4.30 runs per game. The Angels will start Shohei Okhtani tonight who is 7-4 for the season with a 2.68 ERA. The Angels have won 4 of the last 6 road games against teams with a losing record and 7 of the last 10 games when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.

San Francisco Giants @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:40PM ET

The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one the Arizona Diamondbacks got the win. In game number two the Diamondbacks got another win to clinch the series victory.

They come into this game with a record of 40-39 through their first 79 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place of the National League West at the moment. 

The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to complete the sweep on Wednesday after winning the first two games of this series by a combined score of 14-5. They come into this game with a record of 36-44 through their first 80 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a two game winning streak and have won five out of their last ten games on the year. As for the result of this one im going with the Arizona Diamondbacks to complete the sweep.

The dog days of summer are a real thing and the San Francisco Giants are just another team that are suffering from it. Their loss on Tuesday to the 37-44 Arizona Diamondbacks pushed their losing streak out to six games as they now creep closer to .500 at 40-39.

The win was just a couple innings away as they had the lead in the 7th inning before being outscored 5-0 to end the game, as the bullpen disintegrated. San Fran pitcher Alex Cobb is tasked with trying to end this losing streak but he is struggling to stay healthy and isn’t having a great season when he is out there. The Diamondbacks are a scrappy team that smells blood in the water with their division rivals and will continue to steal wins from them while the struggles persist.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West with a 37-44 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off back-to-back wins over the San Francisco Giants.
