The Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the second game of their two game series in this one. These two American League East teams have met twice already this season. In game number one the Jays got the win. Now they will be looking to complete the sweep in game two.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a hard fought victory in game one of the short two game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Now they will be looking to complete the series sweep here on Wednesday afternoon in game two. Toronto comes into Wednesday’s game 13 games above the .500 mark with a record of 58-45 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now won 8 out of their last 10 games on the year and are currently on a three game winning streak.

The Tampa Bay Rays will be looking to bounce back after losing game one of this series in what was a very tightly contested ballgame all throughout. Their recent struggles seem to be continuing as they have now lost eight out of their last 10 games on the year and enter game two of the series on a two game losing streak. They come into this game with a record of 54-49 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

Kevin Gausman pitched a gem for the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing just one hit over 8 innings to help his guys get the 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Jays have now won 11 of 13 and with this win increased their lead over the Rays to 4 games for that top wild card spot. It’s been a real struggle since returning from the All Star break for the Rays who are just 3-8 in that span. 

Their bid to end this bad run will not be easy on Wednesday as they will have to face Toronto’s Yusei Kikuchi who is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA in three games against Tampa Bay. I like the Jays again in the series finale on Wednesday.

In game number two it was Arizona  that got the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series in game three.

The Arizona Diamondbacks bounced back nicely on Tuesday evening to grab a huge win over the Cleveland Guardians to even this series up at one game a piece heading into Wednesday afternoon’s series finale. The Diamondbacks jumped on the Guardians right out of the gate as they scored multiple runs in the first inning then held them at bay throughout the rest of the game. They come into game three of this series with a record of 46-57 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Cleveland Guardians didn’t have things go their way on Tuesday evening but they are still in a great position to win this series on Wednesday afternoon. The Guardians were one of the more surprising teams of the and even more surprising is the fact that they didn’t make a move before the trade deadline on Tuesday night either. They come into the final game of this series with a record of 53-50 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks were able to put an end to their four-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Christian Walker played a big part in that win as he went deep for a three-run homer to get the scoring started and the DBacks never relinquished the lead. It was an opportunity for the Guardians to make up ground in the AL Central race with the first-place Minnesota Twins also losing but for the time being Cleveland will stay one game back. 

Shane Beiber getting the start against a rookie in Tommy Henry gives the Guardians the significant pitching advantage and they should be able to bounce back in this game and get the win at home.

Boston Red Sox @ Houston Astros – 2:10PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one it was the Boston Red Sox that got the win. In game number two the Red Sox clinched the series win and will now be going for the sweep.

Surprisingly the Boston Red Sox have won the first two games of this three-game series against the Houston Astros. For a team that has been struggling like Boston this is a huge momentum boost for them heading into August as they are looking to climb back into playoff contention. They now have a huge opportunity to pick up a sweep in this three-game series with another win here on Wednesday afternoon and get their road trip off to a red hot start. They now sit one game above the .500 mark with 53 victories on the year and 52 losses after their win on Tuesday.

The Houston Astros will be looking to salvage any momentum they can heading into the finale of this three-game series on Wednesday. While they have been one of the best teams in baseball all season long, they are struggling with the Red Sox this week. They come into this game with a record of 67-38 through their first 105 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Despite a few losses they still hold a respectable double digit lead in the American League West division.

The Boston Red Sox are showing signs of life and now find themselves with a winning streak over two games for the first time since way back in June. They got a tight 3-2 victory on Tuesday over the Houston Astros who could not cash in with runners in scoring position, going just 1-8 in those situations. Alex Bregman not being in the lineup due to the birth of his first child was a big reason for the struggles at the plate but then those same struggles continued on Tuesday as the Sox got another tight win, this time by a score of 2-1. They’ll now have a chance to shock everyone and sweep out this series but will be reliant on rookie Brayan Bello to keep this Astros offense at bay once again. I don’t like his chances of doing that with his ERA up at 8.82 and it’s a great opportunity for Houston to salvage at least one win in this set.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. In game number one the Pirates got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series victory in game two.

The Milwaukee Brewers were stunned by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday evening when they had their ace Corbin Burnes on the mound. He made it through five innings without giving up a run but in the bottom of the sixth the bats came out for the Buccos and he was lit up for four of the five of Pittsburgh’s runs in the game. Now Milwaukee will be looking to regroup in game number two of this series as they will have Freddy Peralta on the mound for them. The Brewers come into the second game of this series with a record of 57-46 through their first 102 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be looking to capitalize on their victory in game one of this series by grabbing a series clinching victory here in game two. The Pirates jumped on the Brewers ace late in the gate and didn’t stop scoring as they added four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning enroute to a much needed victory. They come into game two of this series with a record of 41-62 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The series opener between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers went the way of the home team Pirates who got the 5-3 victory on Tuesday. All five runs for them came in the 6th inning as rookie shortstop O’Neil Cruz hit a three-run bomb to help the guys rally for the win. It’s the first win for Pittsburgh since July 23 and loss number 2 in row for the NL Central leading Brewers, who had a four-game winning streak prior to these losses.

 I am not overreacting to this result in this game, as the Pirates put together one good inning of offense to steal this win. They’ve been bad in just about every other inning since returning from the All Star break and Wednesday’s game will be a reality check for them and a bounce back for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are at the bottom of the NL Central with a 41-62 record. Lst night’s win over the Brewers put an end to their seven-game losing streak. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.65 runs per game and 26th allowing 5.16 runs per game. They will start Tyler Beede tonight who is 1-1 for the season with a 3.12 ERA. The Pirates have lost 47 of the last 70 home games against teams with a winning record and 12 of the last 16 second games of a series.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on top of the NL Central with a 57-46 record. They have won 4 of the last 6 games and are currently on a two-game losing streak. The Brewers are 7th in the league scoring 4.70 runs per game and are ranked 13th in the league allowing 4.32 runs per game. Freddy Peralta will be the starting pitcher for the Brewers tonight who is 3-2 for this season with a 4.42 ERA. Milwaukee has won 4 of the last 5 games against teams with a losing record under 40% and 6 of the last 7 games against a right-handed starter.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants – 9:45PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants will be playing the third game of their four game series in this one. In game number one it was the Dodgers who got the win. In game number two the Dodgers officially clinched the series win.

The Los Angeles Dodgers seem to have it all figured out right now as they won the first two games of the series against the San Francisco Giants. These wins could not have come at a better time as their fellow California rivals the San Diego Padres have absolutely loaded up before the trade deadline and will be making a serious run at the Dodgers National League West division lead. At the moment the Dodgers lead the division by 12 games and come into game three of this series with a record of 70-33 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The San Francisco Giants will be looking to regroup in game three and keep their hopes alive of earning a four game series split. The Giants come into this game two games under the .500 mark with a record of 51-53 through their first 104 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. It is certainly a disappointing follow up season after being the best team in last year‘s regular season with 107 wins when the playoffs started. I have them losing game three of the series as well.

It was a somber day for the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise as they had to announce the death of their longtime play-by-play announcer Vin Scully, who passed Tuesday at the age of 94. Despite that, the team was able to rally together and get a big divisional win on the road over the San Francisco Giants by a score of 9-5, pushing their NL West lead out to 11.5 games.

The Dodgers now own the best record in baseball at 70-33 and have taken the last six meetings between them and the Giants who are 4.5 games out of a playoff spot. Dodgers starter Julio Urias will go for his 8th straight victory when he starts this game on Wednesday while Alex Cobb of the Giants will be trying to snap a four-game skid of his own. The result when these teams meet is usually the same (Dodgers winning) and with the talent discrepancy and pitching advantage in LA’s favor again, we should expect a similar result. Give me the Dodgers on the road.
