Look below to find our free MLB Picks for the five best games on today’s schedule!

San Francisco Giants @ Philadelphia Phillies – 1.05PM ET

San Francisco and Philadelphia will meet for the final match of their three game set on Wednesday afternoon, with the Giants looking to complete a series sweep against the Phillies on the road.

Despite trailing 0-4 at the top of the fifth and 4-6 at the top of the eighth, San Francisco scored six runs in the eighth inning to steal the lead and subsequently the victory from Philadelphia, as the game finished 10-7 in favor of the Giants.

Buster Posey recorded three runs, three hits and two RBIs from four at bats in the comeback win.

As a result of San Francisco’s victory, Philadelphia are now staring down the barrel of a series sweep at the hand of the Giants, having lost their first encounter 0-2 and their second encounter 7-10. Connor Brogdon had a nightmare of an eighth inning at the mound for Philadelphia, allowing five hits, six earned runs and a walk in just 0.2 innings with the ball.

The Phillies have now lost their last six of their last eight games.

San Francisco will give Anthony DeSclafani the ball on Wednesday, who currently has a 1.06 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season, while Philadelphia will be looking for Zach Eflin to return them to the winners list. Eflin also has 16 strikeouts this season with a 3.15 ERA.

Although the Phillies are going to be favored at home in this encounter, we haven’t seen enough from Philadelphia in their recent matches to rationalise picking them against the Giants.

Given that San Francisco have now won three games in a row and have a pitcher who has allowed just 14 hits in 17 innings this season, we like the Giants at underdog value in this matchup.

Baltimore Orioles @ Miami Marlins – 1.10PM ET

Baltimore and Miami will wrap up their two game set on Wednesday afternoon, in what will be the Marlins last game in Miami before a 10 game road trip .

After dropping the final game of their series against the Rangers, the Orioles returned to the winners list in their most recent game, defeating the Marlins 7-5 in Miami on Tuesday.

Baltimore jumped out of the gate in Tuesday’s game, leading 6-1 at the top of the fourth. Although Miami took two runs off Matt Harvey’s fifth inning with the ball and a further two runs off Shawn Armstrong in the sixth, the Orioles scored the final run of the game in the eighth, securing a two run victory.

Austin Hayes scored two runs, while Trey Mancini has continued his remarkable return from last year’s battle with colon cancer, recording two runs, two hits and an RBI in the victory.

Having already given up six runs by the bottom of the fourth inning, Miami left their run too late, resulting in 5-7 a loss at home.

Nick Neidert allowed the Orioles to get out to an insurmountable lead, giving up five hits, five earned runs and two walks in three innings at the mound.

Trevor Rogers will take the ball for Miami on Wednesday, having currently allowed eight hits, five runs, one homer and nine walks, while collecting 23 strikeouts with a 2.40 ERA in 15 innings this season.

With Rogers at the mound, the Marlins will take the pitching advantage in this matchup, and seeing as the game is in Miami, we like the Marlins to even the ledger at one game apiece after their two game miniseries against the Orioles.

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Detroit Tigers (Game 1) – 2.10PM ET

As a result of snow postponing the first game of Pittsburgh’s series in Detroit, the Pirates and Tigers will face off in a double header on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh improved to a 7-9 overall record on Sunday night, as their 6-5 10th inning win clinched the Pirates a 2-1 series victory against the above .500 Milwaukee Brewers.

Bryan Reynolds led the way for Pittsburgh’s lineup in their recent win, recording three hits, three runs, two RBIs and a walk from his three at bats on Sunday.

After a slow start to the year, the Pirates have climbed into the top half of teams in the MLB when looking at team batting average (14th – .235). However, Pittsburgh’s bullpen is yet to find their groove this season, currently with a 4.92 ERA this year, ranking them 25th in the league.

As for the Tigers, they backed up their ultimately misleading sweep against the COVID-19 riddled Astros, with a four game losing streak against A’s in Oakland, resulting in a 6-10 overall record.

Oakland completed their sweep over the Tigers with a 3-2 victory on Sunday. Matthew Boyd started at the mound for Detroit, throwing five strikeouts, while allowing four hits and two runs in 7.1 innings.

Currently ranking 25th in the league for runs scored (55) and batting averaging (.212), the Tigers offense has scored 5+ runs in just five of their 16 games this season. However, their rotation has actually been worse, currently ranking 30th in the league for ERA, with a 5.13 average.

Although this game will be played in Detroit, it must be remembered that the Tigers three most recent victories came against a COVID-19 compromised Astros dugout. Whereas the Pirates on the other hand, split a recent series 2-2 against a talented Padres outfit and recorded a 2-1 series win from their most recent set against the above .500 Brewers.

As they have the superior batting lineup, pitching rotation and are in better form, we like Pittsburgh to get a road win in this matchup.

Chicago White Sox @ Cleveland Indians – 6.10PM ET

After kicking off the first game of their series on Tuesday, the White Sox and Indians will face off again on Wednesday evening for game two of their set in Cleveland.

Now with a 9-9 record this year, Chicago haven’t been above .500 all season, having been 1-1, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 8-8 and now 9-9 as a result of their 8-5 victory over Cleveland on Tuesday.

Carlos Rodon struckout eight Indians hitters in Tuesday’s win, however allowed three earned runs and five walks in his return to the mound after last week’s no-hitter. However, the White Sox lineup steered Chicago to the victory, largely thanks to Jose Abreu.

Abreu recorded three hits, three runs and three RBIs from four at bats on Tuesday, as Chicago scored eight runs against Cleveland for the second time in four matches.

Subsequently, Cleveland obviously lost their most recent encounter, going down against Chicago 5-8. Although Jordan Luplow scored two runs from his two at bats, Zach Plesac allowed seven hits, six earned runs and recorded just four strikeouts in his five innings at the mound.

The Indians will receive a boost on Wednesday with Aaron Civale taking the ball. Civale has a 3-0 record so far this season, with a 2.18 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 20.2 innings at the mound this year.

Given that Chicago are yet to name their starting pitcher and Civale has been in great form to start the 2021 season, we like the Indians to return to the winners list in game two of this set in Cleveland.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox – 7.10PM ET

The Blue Jays and Red Sox will wrap up their two game set in Boston on Wednesday night, with Toronto looking to even the series at one game apiece, and Boston looking for a two game sweep.

After returning to the winners list on Monday with a 11-4 victory over the White Sox, Boston extended their winning streak to two games in a row as a result of their 4-2 victory over Toronto on Tuesday.

Eduardo Rodriguez allowed just three hits and two earned runs in six innings at the mound. While, Christian Arroyo, J.D Martinez, Xander Bogaerts and Marwin Gonzalez all recorded runs in the fourth inning on Tuesday, essentially setting up the 4-2 victory.

As for Toronto, their bullpen wasn’t capable of matching it with Boston’s power hitter on Tuesday, as the Red Sox recorded eight hits and four runs in Hyun-jin Ryu’s five innings with the ball.

Bo Bichette continued his strong season with bat in hand, recording another run, two hits and an RBI in Toronto’s loss.

Now three games below .500 and coming up against a top five team in the league at home, we can’t see the Blue Jays upsetting the Red Sox on Wednesday. Especially when considering that Boston are now six games above .500, the best batting team in the MLB and a top 10 pitching team.
