Washington Nationals @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins will be playing the first game of their three game weekday series in this one. Both teams had the day off on Monday so they should be well rested heading into the week. This is the third time they have met this season and so far the Marlins hold a five games to one advantage over the Nats.

Tony Battalio

It’s fair to say it’s been a rough year for both of these National League East clubs, as they both come into this game below the .500 mark through the first quarter or so of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. However when they meet it’s pretty clear that the Marlins look like the more dominant team as they hold a massive advantage over the Nationals through the first six games they have played this season. Miami comes into this game eight games under .500 with a record of 22-30 and five of those have come against the Nationals.

It has somehow managed to be even worse for the Washington Nationals as they find themselves below the Marlins in the standings. They come into this one being tied for the most games played this season and they don’t have much to show for it as they currently have a record of 21-35 through their first 56 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. However, they are currently on a three game winning streak while Miami lost the last time they took the field. I think that will be the difference in this one as I am taking the Nationals to pick up a rare win over the Marlins here in game one.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Washington Nationals (+158)

Jeffery Thomas

The Washington Nationals are on the road to digging themselves out of a deep hole and their current three-game winning streak is a positive start. They still trail the NL East leading Mets by 16 games in the division and will try to continue their streak against the other bottom tier team in the NL East, the Miami Marlins. Miami has dominated this series to start the year, going 5-1 so far where they won the first five meetings holding the Nats to just 8 runs total. Tasked with slowing down Washington on Tuesday will be rookie pitcher Edward Cabrera who made his season debut last Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies.

He held Colorado to just one hit and no runs while striking out nine batters in six innings. It was his first major league win and I like his chances again in this matchup against a Washington team that can’t figure out a way to beat the Marlins. Give me the home team in a game I also like to hit the over.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Miami Marlins (-188)

Marko Nadin

The Miami Marlins are fourth in the NL East with a 22-30 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 22- series split with the San Francisco Giants. Miami is ranked 16th in the league scoring 4.43 runs per game and 15th in the league allowing 4.30 runs per game. Edward Cabrera will start for the Marlins tonight who is 1-0 for the season. Miami has won 4 of the last 5 home games as favorite and 5 of the last 6 games against teams with a losing record under 40%.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 21-35 record. They have split the last 10 games and are coming off a 3-1 series win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Nationals are 19th in the league scoring 4.24 runs per game and 29th in the league allowing 5.65 runs per game. Washington will start Evan Lee tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 4.91 ERA. The Nats have won 4 of the last 5 games against teams with a losing record and have lost 7 of the last 10 games following a day off.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Miami Marlins (-188)

Detroit Tigers @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing the first game of their two game weekday series in this one. Both teams had the day off on Monday so they should be well rested heading into the week. They have met once before and they split a doubleheader.

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Tigers rebuild seemingly has been extended another season but they have certainly shown some bright spots throughout the first two months of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Namely one of them being Spencer Torkelson as he is coming into the league with a lot of hype and so far it’s paying off. However, for the Tigers as a whole things have not been well as they come into this game with a record of 21-33 through their first 54 games of the season. They currently find themselves on a three game losing streak and they have won five out of their last 10 games.

Things haven’t been much better for the Pittsburgh Pirates so far this season either as the season seems to be yet another lost season in their last two decades plus of misery. However, it’s still fair to say they’ve been a bit better than in the past as they come into this game on the four games below the .500 Mark through their first 52 games of the season. They’ve actually been much improved as of late As they have won seven out of their last 10 games on the year and currently find themselves on a two game winning streak. As for the result of this one I’m going with the pirates to add another win because I think they’re momentum will carry them to victory against the Tigers.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (+108)

Jeffery Thomas

The Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates will open up a quick two-game series on Tuesday in Pennsylvania. The Tigers are coming off a sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees and are hoping to get Austin Meadows back in the lineup for the first time since May 15. He’s been out with vertigo symptoms and now the former-Pirate is clear and close to a comeback which will be much needed as he was one the most reliable hitters on the ballclub. Pittsburgh is 8-4 in their last twelve games and are doing it mostly with a youth movement.

In their win on Sunday, the bottom half of their lineup was all rookies and that speaks volumes about the future of this franchise. It’s a tough task for them on Tuesday though, as they face lefty Tarik Skubal who is one of the best pitchers this season. He has not lost a start since April and four of his last six outings he has given up zero runs. He’s been very reliable and I like him to once again put his guys in a great spot to get this road victory.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Detroit Tigers (-126)

Marko Nadin

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 24-28 record. They have won 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 32-1 series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.64 runs per game and 26th allowing 5.11 runs per game. They will start Jose Quintana tonight who is 1.2 for the season with a 2.32 ERA. The Pirates have won 38 of the last 54 interleague home games against a team with a losing record and have lost 9 of the last 12 opening games of a series.

The Detroit Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with a 21-33 record. They have split the last 10 games but are coming off three straight losses to the New York Yankees. The Tigers are the worst offensive team in the league scoring only 2.87 runs per game and are ranked 10th in the league allowing 4.09 runs per game. Tarik Skubal will start tonight for the Tigers who is 4-2 for the season with a 2.15 ERA so far in the season. Detroit has won 4 of the last 5 games as road favorite and 5 of the last 7 road games against teams with a losing record.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (+108)

St.Louis Cardinals @ Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10PM ET

The St.Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the first game of their three game weekday series in this one. Both teams had the day off on Monday so they should be well rested heading into the week. This is the first and only time these two teams will face off in the regular season.

Tony Battalio

The St.Louis Cardinals have had a decent start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game having won 32 out of their first 55 games of the year. They are currently in second place in the National League Central division as they trail the Milwaukee Brewers by only half a game and have won seven out of their last 10 on the season. They currently find themselves on a two game winning streak heading into game one of the series against the tough Tampa Bay team. They will be hoping that momentum carries over for them and they can pull off a big win here in game one.

A lot of people were writing off the Tampa Bay Rays coming into the 2022 season but they are proving people wrong as the season progresses. While people weren’t completely dismissing them, a lot of predictions had them finishing below both the Yankees and the Blue Jays in the American League East. So far those predictions would be correct as they currently find themselves in third place with a record of 31-23. They have been in a bit of a slump lately as they have only won five of their last 10 games. That is why I have them losing a third straight in this one as they will just be unable to shake that negative momentum here on Tuesday.

Tony’s MLB Pick: St.Louis Cardinals (+130)

Jeffery Thomas

The St.Louis Cardinals will travel down south to start up an interleague series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The Cards just took three of five on the road against their division rival Chicago Cubs and now are winners of six of their past eight games. They’re now just a half game back of the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers but face a Rays team that has had their number in recent history.

Tampa has won seven of the last ten contests against the Cardinals dating back to 2011 and in this battle of the bullpens I like the Rays to continue their dominance in the head to head. Tampa’s bullpen ERA is top 4 in the majors while the Cards’ is closer to middle of the pack and I think the Rays will do just enough to slow down this offense and get the win.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays (-154)

Marko Nadin

The Tampa Bay Rays are third in the AL East with a 31-23 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Chicago White Sox. The Rays are 23rd in the league scoring 4.13 runs per game and are ranked 6th in the league allowing 3.93 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Jeffrey Springs tonight who is 2-2 for the season with a 1.88 ERA. The Rays have won 23 of the last 28 interleague home games and 4 of the last 5 interleague home games against teams with a winning record.

The St.Louis Cardinals are second in the NL Central with a 32-23 record. They have won 6 of the last 8 games and are coming off a 3-2 series win over the Chicago Cubs. The Cardinals are fourth in the league scoring 4.95 runs per game and are ranked 8th in the league allowing 3.96 runs per game. They will start Dakota Hudson tonight who is 4-2 for the season and has a 2.96 ERA this season. The Cardinals have won 5 of the last 6 games against teams with a winning record and 13 of the last 16 road games against right-handed pitchers.

Marko’s MLB Pick: St.Louis Cardinals (+130)

New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins – 7:40PM ET

The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins will be playing the first game of their three game weekday series in this one. Both teams had the day off on Monday so they should be well rested heading into the week. This is the first of two times these two teams will face off in the regular season as they will play another four games in late September in the Bronx.

Tony Battalio

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for the New York Yankees as they are coming into this game as the best team in Major League Baseball. They quickly raced out to a record of 39-15 through their first 54 games of the season. They have already built up a 7 1/2 game lead in the American League East division as they look to be running away with it in early June. They are also on a six game winning streak at the moment and have won eight out of their last 10 games on the season. This may be the year that the New York Yankees finally break their World Series drought.

Well everyone expected the New York Yankees to be as dominant as they have been, nobody could expect the Minnesota Twins to race out of the gate this hot and take over the American League Central division. The Twins will enter this game and series with a record of 32-24 through their first 56 games on the year. They currently hold a 4 1/2 game lead over the Cleveland Guardians but they’ve been slumping lately as they’ve only won four out of their last six. They did get a huge series win over the Blue Jays over the weekend but I don’t look for that momentum to carry into Tuesday’s game as I’m going with the Yankees to pick up the victory here in game one.

Tony’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees

Jeffery Thomas

The New York Yankees will be going for win #7 in a row when they head on the road to take on the Minnesota Twins. Their perfect 6-0 homestand included a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers where they outscored them 38-7.

The Minnesota Twins return home off a series win over another AL East team, the Toronto Blue Jays, I don’t think they will fare as well in this matchup against Jameson Taillon who has been lights out this season and should have no problems continuing this winning streak for the Yankees.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees

Marko Nadin

The Minnesota Twins are on top of AL Central with a 32-24 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins are 15th in the league scoring 4.45 runs per game and are ranked 7th allowing 3.95 runs per game. Minnesota will start Emilio Pagan who has a 3.00 ERA for the season. The Twins have won 9 of the last 16 home games and 5 of the last 7 opening games of a series.

The New York Yankees are on top of the AL East with a 39-15 record. They have won the last 6 games and are coming off a 3-0 series sweep against the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees are 7th in the league scoring 4.78 runs per game and are ranked the best in the league allowing 2.89 runs per game. The Yankees will start Jameson Taillon tonight who is 6-1 for the season with a 2.30 ERA. They have won 7 of the last 10 games against AL Central teams and 8 of the last 12 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago White Sox – 8:10PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox will be playing the first game of their three game weekday series in this one. Both teams had the day off on Monday so they should be well rested heading into the week. This is the first and only time these two teams will face off in the regular season.

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been rolling throughout the first couple of months of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this series as one of the best teams in the league and they currently have the top record in the National League as well. They have a record of 35-19 through their first 54 games on the season. However, they have lost their last two games in a row and they will be looking for a way to bounce back in game one against the white socks here today.

On the other end of the spectrum the Chicago White Sox expected to dominate the American League Central division this season. However, that hasn’t been the case as they have looked lethargic at times and have been a complete disappointment considering what their expectations were before the year started. They come into this game two games below the .500 mark with a record of 25–27 through their first 52 games of the year. They might be turning it around at the moment however, as they have a two game winning streak. Although I don’t expect that the last long as I’m going with the Dodgers to pick up the win in this game.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (-124)

Jeffery Thomas

Tuesday starts up a series between two playoff teams from 2021 when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Chicago White Sox. It hasn’t been the best start to the year for the White Sox as they are still two games under .500 but they have been playing some inspired ball as of late.

They’re coming off a series win over the very talented Tampa Bay Rays and find themselves within shouting distance of the division lead. The Dodgers have picked up right where they left off last year and are primed for another deep run into the postseason. They are in first place in the NL West currently but are losers of five of their last seven. With these two teams playing at different levels right now, I’m going to ride with the hot team that is at home and providing plus money value. Give me the White Sox to pull off this upset with Koepech on the mound who just threw 7 shutout innings in a win against the Yankees on May 22.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Chicago White Sox (+106)

Marko Nadin

The Chicago White Sox are third in the AL Central with a 25-27 record. They have lost 4 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The White Sox are 27th in the league scoring 3.69 runs per game and 25th in the league allowing 4.77 runs per game. Michael Kopech will be the White Sox’ starting pitcher tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 2.20 ERA. The White Sox have won 6 of the last 7 interleague home games and 15 of the last 22 games played on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on top of the NL West with a 35-19 record. They have lost 5 of the last 7 games and are coming off a 2-2 series split against the New York Mets. LA is ranked on top of the league scoring 5.41 runs per game and are second in the league allowing 3.30 runs per game. They will start Mitch White tonight who is 1-1 for the season with a 4.79 ERA. The Dodgers have won the last 4 road games as favorites and 13 of the last 16 interleague road games against right-handed starter.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (-124)
