Minnesota Twins @ Cleveland Guardians – 1:10PM ET

The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the second game of their five game series and the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday in this one. In game number one it was the Twins who got the win.

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins opened up this series with an all important win over their American League Central division rivals. They did it in dominating fashion as well, as they quickly jumped out to a huge lead and would end up finishing it off by a score of 11-1. The victory brings the Twins record to 42-33 through their first 75 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Minnesota now holds a three game lead over the Guardians in the division and have won six out of their last ten game on the year.

The Cleveland Guardians were one of the hottest teams in Major League Baseball just last week. Now they come into game two of this doubleheader on a five game losing streak. They will desperately be looking to turn it around and keep themselves hanging around in the American League Central division. The loss drops the Guardians record on the year to 36-33 through their first 69 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As for the result of this one I am going with the Guardians to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians

Monday night was the start of a long five-game series between the top two teams in the AL Central and it could very well go a long way in determining the winner of the division. If that’s the case, then Minnesota Twins fans have to be feeling pretty good about the result on Monday where they beat up on the Cleveland Guardians by a score of 11-1. Gary Sanchez led the way for Minnesota with four RBIs including a three-run homer in the second inning. Carlos Correa and Nick Gordon also added homeruns as the Twins extended their lead to three games in the AL Central.

Zach Plesac of Cleveland will get a second chance at the Twins on Tuesday with him losing his last outing against them despite only giving up one run in 6 innings. I expect him to have another good outing, this time at home dueling against Devin Smeltzer who also pitched a gem in his last outing against the Guardians. Expect to see another low-scoring affair between these guys and I’m rolling with the under for that reason.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Under Runs

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 36-33 record. They have lost the last five games and have scored a total of nine runs in that span. Cleveland is 12th in the league scoring 4.54 runs per game and is ranked 14th in the league allowing 4.30 runs per game. The Guardians will start Zach Plesac tonight who is 2-5 for the season with a 4.17 ERA. Cleveland has won 4 of the last 5 games played on Tuesday and have lost 8 of the last 11 games opening a double-header.

The Minnesota Twins are on top of the AL Central with a 42-33 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 11-1 win last night against the Guardians. The Twins are 11th in the league scoring 4.59 runs per game and are ranked 8th allowing 4.03 runs per game. Minnesota will start Devin Smeltzer tonight who is 4-1 for the season with a 3.05 ERA. The Twins have won 5 of the last 6 road games against teams with a winning record and 8 of the last 11 second games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Washington Nationals – 7:05PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. In game one it was the Nationals who got the win. Now they will be looking to secure the series victory in game two.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be looking for a way to bounce back in this one as they come into this game after suffering their fourth straight loss on Monday evening. They come into game two of this three game series with a record of 29-44 through their first 73 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They led for the majority of this game before losing it late in the bottom of the eighth inning and that is a mistake they will be looking to avoid repeating here again in game two.

The Washington Nationals grabbed a close come from behind win in game one of this series on Monday. Now they will come into this game on Tuesday with a record of 28-48 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a two game winning streak at the moment and have won five out of their last ten games on the season. As for the result of this game I am going with the Washington Nationals to add another win and secure the series victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Washington Nationals (-120)

Monday marked the fourth straight loss for the Pittsburgh Pirates as they fell to the Washington Nationals 3-2 in their series opener. The rough part is that each loss has been by 2 runs or less so they’ve been in each of these games, including having a 2-0 lead on Monday. The bullpen has been letting them down big time with the latest example being the 2-run go-ahead home run given up in the eighth inning that sealed their fate.

I’m not seeing things getting much better for them in this second game either with Jose Quintana taking the mound. Pittsburgh is just 1-3 in his last four starts while the Nats have surprisingly won two of Patrick Corbin’s last three starts at home. Both of these pitchers are bad and while I lean with the Nationals in this game, I think the best play is just the over.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Over Runs (-120)

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 28-48 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-2 win in the series opener against the Pirates. The Nationals are 24th in the league scoring 4.13 runs per game and are the worst team in the league allowing 5.62 runs per game. Washington will start Patrick Corbin tonight who is 3-10 for the season with a 6.60 ERA. The Nationals have won 6 of the last 7 games against teams from the NL Central and have lost 46 of the last 65 home games.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 29-44 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games including the series opener against the Nationals. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.73 runs per game and 25th allowing 5.14 runs per game. They will start Jose Quintana tonight who is 1-4 for the season with a 3.60 ERA. The Pirates have lost 67 of the last 93 road games and 12 of the last 15 games following a loss.

Pittsburgh Pirates (+100)

Houston Astros @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

The Houston Astros and New York Mets will be playing the first game of their two game series in this one. This is going to be one of the most competitive and interesting series of the week.

Tony Battalio

The Houston Astros have been one of the better teams in the American League and all of Major League Baseball so far this season. They come into game one of this short two game series with a record of 45-27 through their first 72 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won seven out of their last ten games on the season but currently find themselves on a one game losing streak. They have at least a ten game lead over the rest of the American League West at the moment.

The New York Mets have been the best team in the National League for the majority of the season as well. They come into this game with a record of 47-27 through their first 74 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won six out of their last ten games on the year but currently find themselves on a one game losing streak. As for the result of this game I am going with the New York Mets to pick up the victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

New York Mets (+105)

The New York Mets are returning home following a 2-3 road trip against Houston and Miami, and are set to play the Houston Astros yet again. They got Monday off following their 3-2 loss on Sunday to the Marlins where they went just 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position. The Astros split their series with the other New York team, the Yankees, over the weekend. One of those wins was a 3-0 shutout win that was also a combined no-hitter. Houston is turning to leftie Framber Valdez in the series opener and hopes that he can turn around his home form.

He has a 4.21 ERA at home this season compared to an ERA down at 1.95 away from home. He should get plenty of run support though, as the Astros historically have done well against Mets starter Carlos Carrasco. When they faced Carrasco just last week they hit 3 homers and scored 5 runs before he had to exit in the fifth inning. Houston is playing better baseball at the moment and should have a much easier time at the plate so I’m rolling with the home team here.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

New York Mets (+105)

The New York Mets are on top of the NL East with a 47-27 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Miami Marlines. The Mets are third in the league scoring 5.01 runs per game and are ranked 10th in the league allowing 4.09 runs per game. Carlos Carrasco will start for the Mets tonight who is 8-3 for the season with a 4.42 ERA. The Mets have won 22 of the last 27 games following a loss and 26 of the last 33 games following a day off.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 45-27 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-2 series against the New York Yankees. The Astros are 18th scoring 4.37 runs per game and are ranked third in the league allowing 3.49 runs per game. Houston will start Luis Garcia tonight who is 5-5 for the season with a 3.68 ERA. The Astros have won the last 4 games after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game and 9 of the last 12 games against teams with a winning record.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

New York Mets (+105)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the first game of their two game series in this one. This will be yet another interesting and short series to keep an eye on this week.

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers come into this game sitting on top of the National League Central division with a record of 42-33 through their first 75 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They currently hold a slim half game lead over the St.Louis Cardinals at the moment. They have won seven out of their last ten games on the season and currently find themselves on a two game winning streak at the moment.

The Tampa Bay Rays are coming into this game with a record of 40-32 through their first 72 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place in the American League East division. They have won five out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a three game winning streak. As for the result of this game I am going with the Tampa Bay Rays to win their fourth straight.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Tampa Bay Rays (-120)

Jeffery Thomas

The Tampa Bay Rays are getting healthier just in time for this interleague series with the Milwaukee Brewers that is set to start on Tuesday night. Wander Franco just recently returned to the lineup following a 23-game absence due to a strained quad and had a hit in the Rays’ 4-2 win last time out against the Pirates. Tampa will hope their offense eventually turns around and produces to the levels that it did last season when they were second in the league in runs scored per game (5.29).

This season they are just scoring 4.06 and now face a Brewers team with a pretty good pitching staff. Brandon Woodruff is making his first start since May following an ankle injury so it’s possible there are some signs of rust. The Rays are coming in confident following a sweep of the Pirates and I think they will come out and get a few early runs on Woodruff as he’s working back into game form. That early surge will be enough for them to ride this victory out in front of their home fans.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Tampa Bay Rays (-120)

The Tampa Bay Rays are fourth in the AL East with a 40-32 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-0 series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Rays are 25th in the league scoring 4.08 runs per game and are ranked 5th in the league allowing 3.82 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Shane Baz tonight who is 0-1 for the season with 4.15 ERA. The Rays have won the last 5 interleague games against a team with a winning record and the last 8 games against NL Central opponents.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on top of the NL Central with a 42-33 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Brewers are 15th in the league scoring 4.50 runs per game and are ranked 13th in the league allowing 4.26 runs per game. Brandon Woodruff will be the starting pitcher for the Brewers tonight who is 5-3 for this season with a 4.74 ERA. Milwaukee has won 4 of the last 5 interleague games and 62 of the last 92 games after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Milwaukee Brewers (+100)

San Diego Padres @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:40PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks will be playing the first game of their short two game series in this one. These two National League West divisional teams have met two times previously and San Diego has won all but one of them.

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres are coming into this game looking to continue their domination of the Arizona Diamondbacks so far this season. They have played the Diamondbacks seven previous times this season and find themselves with a record of 6-1 against them. They just swept them in a three game series last week and they will be looking to do the same with this short two game series as well. The Padres come into this game with a record of 45-30 through their first games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming into this game with a record of 33-41 through their first 74 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They will be looking to avoid getting swept by the San Diego Padres again in this short series. They have won four of their last ten games on the year and currently find themselves on a one game winning streak at the moment. However, as for the result of this game I am going with the San Diego Padres to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

San Diego Padres (-120)

Jeffery Thomas

The San Diego Padres get another crack at a bad team with a losing record and it’s something they’ve taken advantage of all season besides some struggles against the Colorado Rockies. The Padres took all six games in their season series with the Reds, went 5-2 against the Cubs, 4-2 against Pittsburgh and are 3-1 so far against the Marlins.

They now get the Arizona Diamondbacks who they are 6-1 against this season and I’m sure they’ll hope to add to that win total especially given the fact they will be taking on the Dodgers and Giants following this series. The DBacks have lost five of their last six and just have not been very competitive so it’s hard to see them doing much in this spot, even with them being at home. Give me San Diego to stay hot against their division rivals.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

San Diego Padres -1.5 (+135)

Marko Nadin

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West with a 33-41 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Detroit Tigers. The Diamondbacks are 22nd in the league scoring 4.14 runs per game and 22nd allowing 4.80 runs per game. Arizona will start Zac Gallen tonight who is 4-2 for the season with a 2.92 ERA. Arizona has lost 43 of the last 63 opening games of a series and 19 of the last 27 following a day off.

The San Diego Padres are second in the NL West with a 45-30 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-1 series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Padres are 10th in the league scoring 4.63 runs per game and are 4th in the league allowing 3.78 runs per game. San Diego will start Sean Manaea tonight who is 3-3 for the season with a 3.87 ERA. The Padres have won the last 6 games following a day off and 11 of the last 14 games after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

San Diego Padres (-120)
