Seattle Mariners @ San Diego Padres – 4:10PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres will be playing the second game of their two game series in this one. In game number one it was the Mariners who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series victory and sweep here in game two.

The Seattle Mariners got a huge win over the San Diego Padres in game one of their short two game series on Monday. Now they will be looking to sweep the series on Tuesday afternoon and get a huge momentum boost. The Mariners come into this game with a record of 40-42 through their first 82 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won seven out of their last ten on the year and are currently on a three game winning streak as they have been heating up as of late. 

The San Diego Padres will be looking to bounce back and avoid being swept in game two of this short two game series. They come into this game with a record of 47-35 through their first 82 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in second place in the National League West division. They are coming into this game having lost seven out of their ten games on the year. As for the result of this game I am going with the San Diego Padres to pick up the win.

The Seattle Mariners are making a quick two-game pit stop on California for an interleague series with the San Diego Padres and it got off to a great start for them. The Mariners pushed their winning streak out to three games with an 8-2 win as Chris Flexen and three relievers combined to shut down this struggling Padres offense. In their last five games San Diego has only scored ten runs and have only won 2 of their last 7 games overall. 

The offense is broken but they will have a better shot at winning Tuesday because of having Mike Clevinger on the mound. Clevinger has only given up more than 2 runs in one outing this season and is a pretty reliable pitcher for them. The problem is I’m not confident in them at the moment in this slump so I think Clevinger vs Logan Gilbert (9-3, 2.66 ERA) gives us enough of a pitcher’s duel to hit the under.

The San Diego Padres are second in the NL West with a 47-35 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and came into this series after a 1-3 series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres are 15th in the league scoring 4.50 runs per game and are 4th in the league allowing 3.86 runs per game. San Diego will start Mike Clevinger tonight who is 2-0 for the season with a 2.79 ERA. The Padres have won 4 of the last 6 interleague games against teams with a losing record and 21 of the last 29 games after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Texas Rangers @ Baltimore Orioles 7:05PM ET

The Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. In game number one it was the Baltimore Orioles who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series victory here in game two.

The Texas Rangers will be looking to bounce back after their game one loss to the Baltimore Orioles in this one. The Rangers led for the majority of the game before they would eventually go on to lose in extra innings. The loss drops their record on the season to 37-41 through their first 78 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Rangers have lost six out of their last ten on the year and are currently on a two game losing streak coming into this game two of this series. 

The Baltimore Orioles are coming into this game looking to secure the series victory in game two and set up the opportunity for a sweep in game three. The Orioles got a huge come from behind win in Monday’s game and now come into game two of this series with a record of 37-44 through their first 81 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten on the year and currently find themselves on a two game winning streak as well.

The Baltimore Orioles rallied on the Texas Rangers in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at six and then won it on a hit batter in the bottom of the 10th. The double by Adley Rutschman in the 9th to tie the game ended a 0-18 skid he was on and helped the Orioles get to 37-44 at the halfway point of the season. At this same point last season Baltimore was just 27-44 so it’s clear they are improving and their young pieces are coming into their own. 

Texas had this game won and just couldn’t come through with clutch outs late, but they should once again be in a position to win on Tuesday. The Orioles are deploying a bullpen game and that will allow the bats of Texas to dictate things and I see them bouncing back here on the road. Prior to the win on Monday, the Os had lost four of five games so I’m not going to overreact to that result.

The Baltimore Orioles are at the bottom of the AL East with a 37-44 record. They have lost 4 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 7-6 win in the series opener against the Rangers. The Orioles are 23th in the league scoring 4.15 runs per game and are ranked 16th in the league allowing 4.44 runs per game. Baltimore will start Austin Voth tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 7.34 ERA. The Orioles have won 5 of the last 7 home games and have lost 62 of the last 90 when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Texas Rangers are third in the AL West with a 37-41 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games including last night to the O’s. The Rangers are 16th in the league scoring 4.44 runs per game and are ranked 13th in the league allowing 4.29 runs per game. The Rangers will start Spencer Howard who is 0-1 for the season with a 12.15 ERA. Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies – 7:05PM ET

The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. These two National League East teams have met one this season and the Phillies lead the season series four games to one coming into their second meeting of the year.

The Washington Nationals are struggling at the moment as they have lost their last five games in a row and six out of their last ten on the season. To sum it up their already rough season keeps getting rougher and now they will come into this game two of this series 24 games below the .500 mark. They currently have a record of 29-53 through their first 82 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have already seemingly thrown the towel in on this season.

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming into this game with a record of 42-38 through their first 80 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place of the National League East division as they are eight games out of first place. They have won six out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a one game winning streak at the moment. I have them picking up a second straight win in this game.

The Washington Nationals lost again on Monday and were swept out in four games by their division rival Miami Marlins. They lost the last two games in extra innings and are now on a 5 game losing streak that is creeping them closer to that last place spot in the National League. The Philadelphia Phillies were off on the 4th of July but are right back home for this series as they still are holding that 3rd place spot in the NL East. 

They are coming off a series with the St. Louis Cardinals where they took two of three, outscoring them 15-10. Philly is 4-1 this season against Washington but are now dealing with a few injuries in their lineup, most notably Bryce Harper. Despite that I still like them to get this win at home against a struggling team that still is searching for their first win of July.

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 42-38 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Phillies are 4th in the league scoring 4.87 runs per game and 14th in the league allowing 4.30 runs per game. Christopher Sanchez will be the Phillies’ starter tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 4.60 ERA. Philadelphia has won 15 of the last 19 games against a right-handed pitcher and 7 of the last 9 opening games of a series.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 29-53 record. They have lost the last 5 games and are coming off a 0-4 sweep to the Miami Marlins. The Nationals are 25th in the league scoring 4.08 runs per game and are 29th in the league allowing 5.55 runs per game. Washington will start Paolo Espino tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 2.80 ERA. Cleveland Guardians @ Detroit Tigers – 7:10PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers will be playing the third game of their five game series in this one. In game number one it was the Detroit Tigers who got the win. In game number two the Tigers added another victory to clinch at least a share of the series.

The Cleveland Guardians are coming into this game after losing two games of a doubleheader to the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon. It is their fourth loss in the last five games as they have hit a skid as of late. They are coming into this game with a record of 40-38 through their first 78 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost six out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a two game losing streak. They remain in second place in the American League Central division. 

The Detroit Tigers are coming into this game looking to wrap up this series already in game number three. They won both games of a doubleheader on Monday to bring their record on the season to 32-47 through their first 79

games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won six out of their last ten games on the season and are currently on a two game winning streak as well. However, I have the Cleveland Guardians getting the win in this one.

The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers were involved in a doubleheader on Independence Day where the home Tigers took both games. The first game was a 4-1 win in which starting pitcher Garrett Hill got credited with the win in his MLB debut. Hill couldn’t have done much better as he threw six innings and only allowed two hits in the ballgame. In the nightcap, the Tigers won 5-3 as Jonathan Schoop added two more hits to bring his total for the day to 6.

Cal Quantrill should be able to put an end to this winning for Detroit as he has put a couple of string starts together in a row. He also has only given up 5 earned runs in 16.1 career innings against Detroit so he’s comfortable facing these guys home or away. Give me the Guardians to get back in the win column in this one.

The Tigers are the worst offensive team in the league scoring only 3.13 runs per game and are ranked 17th in the league allowing 4.38 runs per game. Drew Hutchinson will start tonight for the Tigers who is 0-4 for the season with a 4.81 ERA so far in the season. Detroit has won 6 of the last 8 home games against teams with a winning record and has lost 21 of the last 30 games when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 40-38 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off back-to-back losses to the Tigers. Cleveland is 19th in the league scoring 4.35 runs per game and is ranked 18th in the league allowing 4.39 runs per game. The Guardians will start Cal Quantrill tonight who is 4-4 for the season with a 3.72 ERA. They currently occupy the number one wild card spot in the American League as well and will be looking to further increase that lead with another win in game two against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Fourth of July has been very kind to the Boston Red Sox in recent history and it was the case yet again as they shut out the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 on Monday. It was the eighth straight year they won on America’s Independence Day and in doing so snapped the Rays’ three game winning streak. 

Fading Tampa Bay in the first game of a road series has been profitable as this is the 8th straight road opener they lost in a row for future reference. I’m going to ride with Boston in the second game of the series as well with Nick Pivetta on the mound. The Sox have won 9 of the last 10 games started by Pivetta while the Rays have lost 10 of their last 15 against teams with a winning record. All the trends point to another home victory for Boston on Tuesday.
