Atlanta Braves @ Boston Red Sox – 7:10PM ET

The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox will be playing the first game of their quick two game series in this one. These two teams met in another two game series earlier this season. In that series both teams each won a single game.

The Atlanta Braves come into this game needing to grab some wins and get their season back on track. They have lost their last three games in a row and four out of their last five after being completely dominated in their five game series against the New York Mets over the weekend. The Braves currently have a record of 64-46 through their first 110 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season as they currently lead the National League Wild Card race as the top wild card seed. 

The Boston Red Sox are coming into this game with a record of 54-56 through their first 110 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently four and a half games out of the Wild Card spot in the American League and have lost six out of their last ten games on the season as well. They also come into game one of this short series on a two game losing streak as they will be desperate for a much needed win over the Braves. However, I don’t see it happening, as I have Atlanta winning the first of two games in this one. 

Jeffery Thomas

The Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves will start up their two-game series on Tuesday with the last place Red Sox as the hosts. The Braves come in on a three-game losing streak after dropping the final three games of their series with the New York Mets over the weekend but they still sit atop the NL Wild card race. The Red Sox do not have any playoff hopes at the moment, as they’ve watched them just erode over the past month and a half. It’s been a struggle as of late with them losing three of four over the weekend to the Kansas City Royals and four of five overall.

 It will be Rich Hill on the mound for Boston as he looks to continue his career success against Atlanta as he is 5-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 10 appearances. That is not his current form though as he hasn’t recorded a win since June 26 and will be facing a Braves team desperate to get back in the win column. That’s what I expect to happen and will be backing the road team in this one.

The Boston Red Sox are on the bottom of the AL East with a 54-56 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-3 series loss to the Kansas City Royals. The Red Sox are 12th in the league scoring 4.53 runs per game and are ranked 24th in the league allowing 4.81 runs per game. Boston will start Rich Hill tonight who is 4-5 for the season with a 4.52 ERA. The Red Sox have won 7 of the last 9 games after a day off and 7 of the last 10 interleague games against teams with a winning record.

The Atlanta Braves are second in the NL East with a 64-46 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 1-4 series loss to the Atlanta Braves New York Mets. The Braves are 6th in the league scoring 4.78 runs per game and are ranked 8th in the league allowing 4.04 runs per game. The Braves will start Charlie Morton tonight who is 5-5 for the season with a 4.09 ERA. Atlanta has won the last 4 games following a day off and 38 of the last 52 games after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Washington Nationals @ Chicago Cubs – 8:05PM ET

The Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. In game one it was the Chicago Cubs who picked up the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series with another win here on Tuesday evening.

The rough season for the Washington Nationals is continuing as they have lost yet another game. They have now lost their last six games in a row and eight out of their last ten on the season. The Nationals come into game two of this three game series with a record of 36-75 through their first 111 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Washington is 35.5 games back of first place in the National League East and is virtually already eliminated from the playoff picture before the middle of August. 

The Chicago Cubs aren’t currently having the best season either but they have certainly been more competitive than the Nationals. They already won game one of this series and now will be looking to clinch the series victory here in game number two as well. The Cubs come into this second game with a record of 44-64 through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won four out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a one game winning streak as well. 

Jeffery Thomas

The drought for the Washington Nationals continued on Monday in their series opener against the Chicago Cubs. They lost the game by a score of 6-3 and are now just 1-7 in the month of August. This was win number three in four games for the Cubs who just had a successful weekend against the Miami Marlins where they took that series at home. 

Things won’t be expected to get better for Washington on Tuesday as they send out starting pitcher Paolo Espino (0-4 4.20 ERA) who is coming off an outing where he allowed five runs in just four innings against Philadelphia. The Cubs will counter with Marcus Stroman (3-5 4.00 ERA) who hasn’t been great himself, but is far more reliable. The Nats have nothing left on this team to make them competitive and it’s a tall task for them to win games at the moment so give me the Cubs yet again.

The Chicago Cubs are third in the NL Central with a 44-64 record. The Cubs have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 6-3 win in the series opener against the Nationals. The Cubs are 21th in the league scoring 4.16 runs per game and are ranked 25th allowing 4.88 runs per game. The Cubs will start Marcus Stroman tonight who is 3.5 for the season with a 4.00 ERA. The Cubs have won 9 of the last 11 games when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game and 4 of the last 5 second games of a series.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 36-75 record. They have lost the last 6 games and have allowed 10 runs on average in the last three games. The Nationals are 26th in the league scoring 3.91 runs per game and are 30th in the league allowing 5.76 runs per game. Washington will start Paolo Espino tonight who is 0-4 for the season with a 4.20 ERA. The Nationals have lost 65 of the last 96 road games and 37 of the last 51 games following a loss.

Texas Rangers @ Houston Astros – 8:10PM ET

The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. These two American League West teams have met three previous times this season. The Astros currently lead the season series eight games to three and could win it during this one.

The Texas Rangers have had a pretty underwhelming season considering the amount of talent they brought in over the off-season. They come into this game 12 games below the .500 mark as they’ve picked up 48 victories through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently 21 games back of the Houston Astros for first place in the American League West division. They have lost six out of their last 10 games on the year and coming to this game on a one game losing streak as well.

The Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball all season long. They come into this game with a record of 70-40 through their first 110 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. However, after a hot start to the weekend against the Cleveland Guardians they lost the last two games of the series and were forced to split the four game series. So they will be looking to bounce back in game one of this one as they come into this game on a two game losing streak that I look to end here on Tuesday evening.

The Houston Astros got a much needed day off on Monday after playing 19 games in an 18-day stretch following the All-Star break. It wasn’t the worst stretch ever but it could have been better by their standards, going 11-8. They now will start a six-game homestand against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday and it starts a 21-game stretch where they will be at home for 12 games with a few off days mixed in. This gives them the perfect opportunity to overtake the New York Yankees for the top record in the American League and secure home-field advantage for the postseason. 

It’s going to be a pitching battle as the Rangers are sending out their ace Martin Perez against the Astros’ Jose Urquidy. Neither guy has lost a start or given up more than 2 runs in their last three outings and for that reason, I’m expecting a lower scoring affair. Give me the under in this series opening battle between AL West teams.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 70-40 record. The Astros have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-2 series tie against the Cleveland Guardians. The Astros are 14th scoring 4.49 runs per game and are ranked second in the league allowing 3.33 runs per game. Houston will start Jose Urquidi tonight who is 10-4 for the season with a 3.62 ERA. The Astros have won 21 of the last 28 games after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game and 51 of the last 73 opening games of a series.

The Texas Rangers are third in the AL West with a 48-60 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-2 series tie against the Chicago White Sox. The Rangers are 13th in the league scoring 4.50 runs per game and are ranked 20th in the league allowing 4.51 runs per game. The Rangers will start Martin Perez who is 9-2 for the season with a 2.47 ERA. Texas has won 5 of the last 7 games when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game and has lost 12 of the last 14 games against teams with a winning record.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Milwaukee Brewers – 8:10PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers will be playing the first game of their quick two game series in this one. These two teams met in another two game series earlier this season. In that series the Milwaukee Brewers won both games.

The Tampa Bay Rays are having a solid season but they are being overshadowed by the New York Yankees being as dominant as they have been. Tampa Bay comes into this game sitting in third place of the American League East division as they are eight games above the .500 mark and 12 games behind the New York Yankees for the lead in the division. They currently have a record of 58-50 through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last 10 games on the year and come into this game on a one game winning streak.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been in first place of the National League Central division for the majority of the season. However, as of late they have been in a slump and now they find themselves behind the St.Louis Cardinals instead of in front of them. The Brewers are currently two games behind St.Louis for first place as they have lost six out of their last 10 games on the year and will come into this game on a two game losing streak. I do not expect that strict and either as I have the Tampa Bay Rays getting the wind here in game one.

The Milwaukee Brewers got Monday off to regroup as they have lost six of their past seven games and now have fallen out of first place in the NL Central. That is concerning because without being in first place they fall out of a playoff spot all together as the fourth team in the wild card race. They’ve made the playoffs each of the past four seasons so I’m expecting them to make a push down the stretch and find a way in, but it won’t be as easy without their all star closer Josh Hader who was traded away. 

The Rays come in full of confidence after winning four of the past five games but should be wary of this desperate Brewers club. The Brew are at home with their ace Brandon Woodruff on the mound and in a must-win scenario I think it’s a good time to back them to get a much needed win.

The Milwaukee Brewers are second in the NL Central with a 58-50 record. They have lost 6 of the last 7 games and are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The Brewers are 8th in the league scoring 4.69 runs per game and are ranked 17th in the league allowing 4.35 runs per game. Freddy Peralta will be the starting pitcher for the Brewers tonight who is 3-2 for this season with a 4.46 ERA. Milwaukee has won the last 4 interleague games against teams with a winning record and 21 of the last 28 opening games of a series.

The Tampa Bay Rays are third in the AL East with a 58-50 record. Tampa Bay has won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-1 series win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are 22nd in the league scoring 4.15 runs per game and are ranked 6th in the league allowing 3.94 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Jimmy Yacabonis tonight who has a 9.00 ERA for the season. The Rays have won the last 4 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game and 4 of the last 5 interleague road games against teams with a winning record.

Minnesota Twins @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10PM ET

The Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing the first game of their quick two game series in this one. These two teams met in another two game series earlier this season. In that series the Los Angeles Dodgers won both games.

The Minnesota Twins may be starting to crack to the pressure. As they have been playing some subpar baseball as of late and they are picking the worst time to do so as well. As the Cleveland Guardians are hot on their tail Minnesota is gonna have to pick up their performance in the short two game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Minnesota comes into this game with a record of 57-51 through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost five out of their last 10 games on the year and are currently on a one game losing streak as well. 

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball for the entirety of the 2022 season. They come into this game with a record of 75-33 through their first 108 games of the year. They have won their last eight games in a row and now have a 16 game lead over the second place team in the National League West. Los Angeles has also picked up nine victories in their last 10 games on the year as they look to be rolling and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon either.

It’s a battle of two first-place teams as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins start up their brief two-game series on Tuesday. The Dodgers are on a season-high 8 game winning streak and are rolling with a 30-5 record since June 28. Their division lead is now up to 15.5 games and this recent surge helped them pass the New York Yankees for the best record in baseball. 

The Twins are a pretty respectable team but I don’t think they will offer up much resistance to this loaded LA squad that is on a mission to win every game when they step out on the diamond. Julio Urias is 8-0 with a 2.28 ERA in his last nine starts and that’s just a run of dominance we can not get in front of. It is Dodgers practically every game for me until further notice, and this time I’m even taking the run line.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on top of the NL West with a 75-33 record. They have won the last 8 games and are coming off a 3-0 series win over the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers are ranked second in the league scoring 5.33 runs per game and allow the league lowest 3.22 runs per game. They will start Julio Urias tonight who is 11-6 for the season with a 2.57 ERA. The Dodgers have won 21 of the last 27 games against AL Central teams and 41 of the last 54 games following a win.

The Minnesota Twins are on top of the AL Central with a 57-51 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-2 series tie with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins are 10th in the league scoring 4.58 runs per game and are ranked 15th allowing 4.33 runs per game. Minnesota will start Joe Ryan tonight who is 8-4 for the season with a 3.67 ERA. The Twins have won 23 of the last 31 games after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game and 20 of the last 28 games following a loss.
