Cincinnati RedsPhiladelphia Phillies – 7:05PM ET

The Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the second game of their four game series in this one. In game number one of the series it was the Phillies who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series here in game number two.

Tony Battalio

The Cincinnati Reds will be looking to bounce back after their loss in game one of this series on Monday evening. The Reds gave up too quick runs early on in the ballgame and they were never able to recover as their offense only managed to put a single run up on the board. With this loss the record drops down to 48-72 through their first 120 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Reds have now lost six out of their last 10 games on the year and this loss in game one to Philadelphia breaks a two game winning streak that they were on.

The Philadelphia Phillies grabbed a huge win in game number one of this four game weekday series. They put up four runs on the board and scored consistently throughout the game as they scored in three different innings instead of just scoring a four run barrage in one of them. With the victory, the Phillies record moves to 67-55 through their first 122 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now picked up victories in their last 10 games of the year and will come into this game on a one game winning streak.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies (-225)

The Reds lost yesterday despite the momentum seemingly on their side. They proved that it was just an illusion, and that they are still the same dysfunctional Reds team that has helped them go 48-72 for the year. They very few offensive weapons, and their pitching staff is inconsistent at best. I would steer you away from any fool who would suggest that the Reds are a good bet in any occasion, even if that fool is me. Young Pitcher Nick Lodolo is pitching today, and if you look at his whip, you should be able to tell just how well the Phillies should be able to hit off of him, he’s got a terrible whip of 1.57.

The Phillies have been boosted recently by strong performances by Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos, the former of which has 8 RBIs in his last 7 games and the latter has an average of .355 in that time span. The Phillies defense has been improving day by day ever since they used the trade deadline to address their massive defensive woes, now they actually have a competent defense to match their dangerous offense. I expect the Phillies to have an easy time ripping through the Reds pitching staff today starting with Nick Lodolo.

Kyler’s MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies (-225)

New York Mets @ New York Yankees – 7:05PM ET

The New York Mets and New York Yankees will be playing the second and final game of their two game series. In game number one of the series it was the Yankees who got the win. Now they will be looking to sweep the series here in game number two.

Tony Battalio

The New York Mets will be looking to bounce back in game two of the series after their loss in game one to the New York Yankees. The Mets are still in a great position as this is their first loss of the season to the Yankees and three games. They have already clinched at least a share of the season series between the two teams as they are slated to play only four total games this season. With the loss the Mets record drops to 79-45 through their first 124 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. New York has now lost five out of their last 10 on the year and come into this game on a one game losing streak.

The New York Yankees finally got a win over their arch rivals in game one of this quick two game series. It could potentially be a momentum changing win for the Yankees as they have been struggling as of late. Despite the large amount of losses lately the Yankees are still in a great position this season as they come into this game with a record of 75-48 through their first 123 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Yankees have now picked up four victories in their last 10 games on the year and will come into game two of this series on a two game winning streak.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

New York Yankees (-120)

The Yankees reasserted themselves yesterday by beating Max Scherzer and the Mets and getting to 75 wins on the season. Aaron Judge hit his 47th home run and helped the Yankees beat their cross town rivals for the first of a two game series at Yankee stadium, setting up an epic match to try and get a short sweep and declare themselves out of the slump they had seemed to be stuck in since the start of March which has seen them fall out of the coveted number one spot in the AL to the Houston Astros, as well as fall back within double digits of their inter-division rivals.

With the Yankees urgently needing to string some wins together, you could still make the case that the Mets need to win today’s game even more than the Yankees do. Now only 3.5 games ahead of the Braves for the lead of the NL East, those 3.5 games represent a bye week in the first round of the playoffs, a much coveted prize this year, with the playoffs expanded. Although the Mets should be desperate to snatch a draw in this series, and keep distance between them and the Braves, they have instead made the unusual move of rearranging their rotation so that their other ace, Jacob DeGrom will not be pitching as expected. Instead, Taijuan Walker will start in his place, a major step down in step down in pitching talent, but still a solid starter with a 3.36 ERA, but will it be enough to beat the Yankees high powered offense? I don’t think so.

New York Yankees (-120)

Los Angeles Angels @ Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the second game of their four game series in this one. In game number one of the series it was the Rays who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series here in game number two.

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Angels will be looking to bounce back in game two of the series after their close loss in game one. Their offense just couldn’t seem to get going as they only managed to score a single run on Monday evening. That run came midway through the game in the fifth inning but the Tampa Bay Rays answered immediately to take a lead and hold it for the remainder of the game. With the loss the Angels drop to 18 games below the .500 mark as they come into game two of the series with a record of 52-70 through their first 122 games of a 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Tampa Bay Rays picked up a huge win over the Los Angeles Angels in game one of the series. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series here with another win on Tuesday evening in game two. With the victory they improve to 11 games above the 500 mark as they come into game two with a record of 66-55 through their first 121 games of a 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Rays have now picked up eight victories in their last 10 games on the year and come into this game on a three game winning streak.

After winning a low scoring affair yesterday, the Rays are now 66-55, and match their season high of 11 games over .500. Randy Arozarena was the critical piece in their win today with a huge home run which gave them the 2 to 1 lead which ended up being the final score. This now pushes their win streak to three and gets them one game closer to the wild card round… or perhaps even a division title if they can keep it up and the Yankees continue to struggle. This big step was all thanks to that Randy Arozarena clutch home run, which might not be the last of the series.

Arozarena has 17 home runs this season which leads the team. He isn’t the most powerful home run hitter in the world, but if his 2020 playoff run taught us anything, is that when Arozarena gets hot, he can hit home runs in bunches. He has hit home runs in back to back games three times already this season, and my guess is that he’s ready to do it again today. The Angels are putting Jose Suarez on the mound, who has given up 1.2 home runs per 9 innings, which isn’t bad, but it does leave room for Arozarena to knock one out of the park tonight, and honestly, I like his chances.

Kyler’s MLB Pick:

Arozarena HR

Cleveland Guardians @ San Diego Padres – 9:40PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians and San Diego Padres will be playing the first game of their two game series in this one. These two teams played earlier this season in a doubleheader and they split in this series as each team won a single game.

Tony Battalio

The Cleveland Guardians have been one of the most fun teams to watch in all of Major League Baseball this season. They are also the youngest team in major league baseball but they are far exceeding their expectations as they come into this game sitting in first place in the American League Central division. Cleveland currently has a two game lead over the Minnesota Twins and come into this game with a record of 64-56 through their first 120 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up six victories in their last 10 games on the year and now they will be looking to get a win in game one of this series.

The San Diego Padres made a ton of moves during the MLB trade deadline at the end of July. We are nearly a month removed from the trade deadline and a lot of change for San Diego. They come into this game with a record of 68-56 through their first 124 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in second place of the National League West division as they are 18 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, they currently have possession of the third and final wildcard spot in the National League.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians (+125)

The Guardians haven’t played in two days after their day off following a day in which they were scheduled to play a doubleheader with the White Sox was postponed. That leaves the Guardians perhaps a little out of rhythm as they head to San Diego to face down the Padres in what should be a battle between two playoff hopefuls. The guardians have a very small-ball approach to the offense with Steven Kwan (.301 AVG) setting the pace for a Guardians team that ranks eighth in the league in average with a .252 on the year. As for their pitching, the Guardians have a pretty impressive young rotation that should be represented in this one by Aaron Civale. Unfortunately for the Guardians, Aaron Civale has been anything but impressive this year, posting a 5.63 ERA and a 1.34 whip.

The Padres are still coping with the news of Fernando Tatis being suspended for the rest of the year for PEDs. Despite that, the Padres still look to be the favorites in this one as Mike Clevinger is set to pitch today, posting a decent average of 3.63 with only 65 hits in 74 innings pitched this season. Clevinger is due for a bounce back performance after two of his last three starts resulted in him being knocked out before the fifth inning. This is a bit concerning, but not enough to persuade me not to choose the Padres in this one.

Kyler’s MLB Pick:

San Diego Padres (-150)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. In game number one of the series, it was the Brewers who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here in game number two.

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers got a huge win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in game one of the series. Game two won’t be as easy though it is likely going to be a picture’s door between two of the best pitchers in all of major league baseball and two guys who are certainly in the running for a possible National League Cy Young award winner. As Corbin Burnes, the reigning and defending National League Cy Young award winner takes on Tony Gonsolin the guy who looks set to win this year’s National League Cy Young award.

Both of these teams come into this game with their eyes set on potential playoff spots and division crowns as well this season. For the Los Angeles Dodgers barring a major collapse they already have the National League West all but officially locked up. For the Milwaukee Brewers, they are in a tight race in the National League Central with the St.Louis Cardinals. As of right now, the Brewers find themselves five games back of a red hot Cardinals team. As for the result of this game, however, I think it’ll be the Dodgers that pull even in this series for the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Los Angeles Dodgers (-155)

It’s hard to bet against the Dodgers, even when they are playing a team as solid as the Brewers, who are very capable of winning games with their ace, Corbin Burnes pitching. Unfortunately for the Brewers, they are facing the best team in the league led out by the guy with the best whip, and the best record in the league in Tony Gonsolin, who while he doesn’t have the same name recognition as Corbin Burnes, he does have numbers that will likely put him ahead of Burnes in any Cy Young voting. The Brewers are probably going to be out pitched and out hit today.

The Dodgers offense might be one of the best since the ‘27 Yankees. Starting off with three legitimate MVP contenders in Trea Turner, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman, those three have led off a lineup that leads the league in OPS by more than .025 points with a whopping .788. They are also in the top five in nearly every other offensive category and have a team ERA that is even more impressive than their OPS. They have a team ERA of 2.83 which is .25 points more than the second place team. These are insane numbers that you would have to be insane to bet against.

Kyler’s MLB Pick:

Los Angeles Dodgers (-155)
