Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 6:35PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. As these two National Central rivals meet for the second time this season. The last time they faced off the Brewers came away with a 3-0 sweep.

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers enter this three game road series after playing a quick one game set against the San Francisco Giants on Monday evening. They are already 3-0 on the season against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Overall they are 6-4 through ten games against the National League Central this season. In their weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies they took two out of three games on the road to get another series win this season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates come into this series looking to hand Milwaukee a little bit of payback after they were swept by the Brewers last week in Milwaukee. This is their third straight series against a National League Central division rival and their fourth on the young season already. Over the weekend they took three out of four games from the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field and they will be looking to use the momentum from that to get a couple wins in this series at home. As for the result of this one, I’m picking the Buccos to get the win in game number one.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (+152)

Jeffery Thomas

The Milwaukee Brewers had a quick one game set with the San Francisco Giants on Monday and are now heading to Pittsburgh on Tuesday for a three-game divisional series with the Pirates. The Pirates had Monday off after taking three of four from the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. The lone loss was an epic one, losing 21-0 on Saturday but they bounced back for a 4-3 win the next day in the series finale. Pittsburgh will now try and avenge the series sweep the Brewers fealty them just about a week ago.

This is a great matchup for the Brewers and with Mitch Keller taking the bump for the Pirates it’s a great opportunity to get their struggling bats going. Milwaukee is the better team all-around and I’m not sure we’ll see another sweep in this series but I do give the opening game to the road Brewers in this one who should have a great day at the plate.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Milwaukee Brewers (-180)

Marko Nadin

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 8-8 record. They are coming off a series against the Chicago Cubs which they won 3 games to 1 but that one loss was by 21-0. The Pirates are 18th in the league scoring 3.72 runs per game and 28th allowing 5.54 runs per game. Pittsburgh will start Mich Keller who is 0-3 for the season with a 6.23 ERA. The Pirates have won 7 of the last 8 games when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on a great start of the season as they are on top of NL Central with a 10-7 record. Milwaukee has already swept the Pirates once this season and is coming off a 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants in a single game. Milwaukee is ranked 8th in the league allowing 3.62 runs per game and 7th allowing .214 AVG. The Brewers will start Brandon Woodruff who is 2-1 for the season with a 4.30 ERA. Milwaukee has won 8 of the last 10 games against the Pirates including the last five.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Milwaukee Bucks (-180)

Seattle Mariners @ Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. As these two American League teams meet for the first time this season. They will play again next weekend in a four game series in Seattle.

Tony Battalio

The last time the Seattle Mariners found themselves in the Major League Baseball playoffs, the Tampa Bay Rays franchise was only three years old. After nearly ending their 20 plus year playoff drought last season when they fell a couple games short of the American League wild card game. They look dead set on accomplishing that goal this season. Seattle has gotten off to a decent start this season as they find themselves with a 10-6 record through their first 16 games of the season.

The Tampa Bay Rays are one of the top favorites in Major League Baseball this season. They are only a couple years removed from a World Series appearance and they will be looking to get back there this year and get the win this time around. They come into this game with a record of 9-7 through their first 16 games of the season which puts them in third place in the American League East at the moment. They are coming off of a series win over the Boston Red Sox at home. As for the result of this one I am going with the Rays to open up this three game set with a victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays

Jeffery Thomas

This game in Tampa Bay against the Rays is the beginning of nine-game road trip for the Seattle Mariners. The Ms are coming off a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals and concluded a nine-game homestand at 7-2. That run has them stop the AL West in the early going and they’ll look to keep that spot against the Rays who are currently in third place in the AL East. Tampa Bay took two of three from the Boston Red Sox over the weekend and have now won four of their last six games.

These teams are going to be seeing a lot of each other, with 7 games scheduled between them in the next 13 days. I like the Rays in this opening game as their bullpen will be well rested after Shane McClanahan went seven innings deep into his start on Sunday in the 5-2 win over Boston. The group then got Monday off as well and as the better team at home I’m rolling with them to get this win over a tough Mariners team.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays

Marko Nadin

The Tampa Bay Rays are third in the AL East with a 9-7 record. They are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Boston Red Sox and a 5-2 in the last game. The Rays are 9th in the league with 4.60 scored runs per game and 15th allowing 4.08 runs per game. They are also ranked fourth in the league allowing .207 AVG and sixth allowing .628 OPS. Tampa Bay will start Matt Wisler who is 1-0 for the season with a 2.45 ERA. The Rays won the last game against Seattle 4-3 in August last year.

The Seattle Mariners are on top of AL West with a 10-6 record. They are coming off three consecutive wins over the Kansas City Royals, the last one 5-4 in the 12th inning. The Mariners are seventh in the league scoring 4.85 runs per game and are 11th allowing 3.71 runs per game. They will start Logan Gilbert who is 2-0 for the season with a 0.54 ERA. Seattle has won 8 of the last 10 games against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays

Chicago Cubs @ Atlanta Braves – 7:20PM ET

The Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. As these two National League teams meet for the first time this season. They will play again in June in a three game series in Atlanta.

Tony Battalio

The Chicago Cubs are heading into this one looking to rebound from a disaster of a weekend where they lost three games to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The worst part about that four game series is the fact that they outscored them 29-12 thanks to their lone win in the series being a 21-0 rout on Saturday. The Cubs come into this one with a record of 7-9 through their first 16 games of the season. Marcus Stroman will take the mound for them in this one as he looks to find his form this season after a few bad starts to open the year up.

The defending World Series champions are still having a bit of a championship hangover as they come into this series under .500. They currently sit at 7-10 on the year though their first 17 games of the season. They are coming off of a miserable series loss to the Miami Marlins at home. As their record at home has been disappointing to say the least, through 10 games they are 4-6 in Atlanta. They have yet to actually win a series this year as well, and only have a single win in series openers. That is why I am going with the Chicago Cubs to take game one of this three game series.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Chicago Cubs (+144)

Jeffery Thomas

The Chicago Cubs lost three of four against the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend and are now getting ready for their series in Atlanta with the Braves starting up on Tuesday. This upcoming stretch is important for the Cubs, as they don’t want to let the season get away from them too early. They have this series with the World Series Champion Braves, followed up by three more series against last year playoff teams (Brewers, White Sox, Dodgers). The Braves are also coming off a series loss over the weekend, losing two of three to the Miami Marlins. That makes it five losses in the last seven for the Braves who are in an early season post-championship funk.

The Cubs are turning to Marcus Stroman in this one and that hasn’t been good news so far this season. He is 0-2 with an 8.78 ERA on the year and he’s a guy I’ll be looking to fade at every opportunity. Going against Max Fried makes that decision even easier, as Fried is coming off throwing seven shutout innings against the loaded Dodgers in his last start. This is a good opportunity for the Braves to get this going on the right track.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Atlanta Braves (-172)

Marko Nadin

The Atlanta Braves have not started the season well as they are third in the NL East with a 7-10 record. They are coming off two straight lost series by 2-1 against the LA Dodgers and the Miami Marlins. The defending champions are ranked 15th in the league scoring 4.11 runs per game and are 26th allowing 4.95 runs per game. The Braves will start Max Fired tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 3.50 ERA. The Braves have won 5 of the last 6 games following a day off.

The Chicago Cubs are fourth in the NL Central with a 7-9 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off losing all three games in the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cubs are the second-best team in the league with 5.48 scored runs per game and are on top with .273 AVG and .774 OPS. The Cubs will start Marcus Stroman tonight who is 0-2 for the season with an 8.78 ERA. The Cubs have won 4 of the last 5 opening games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Atlanta Braves (-172)

Detroit Tigers @ Minnesota Twins – 7:40PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. As these two American Central rivals meet for the first time this season. The Tigers come in off of a series loss against Colorado. While the Twins come off a series sweep of the Chicago White Sox.

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Tigers were able to celebrate Miguel Cabrera getting his 3000th hit over the weekend against the Colorado Rockies. Unfortunately that was about all there was to celebrate as they would end up losing the series after a loss on Sunday afternoon in the finale. It capped off what was a disappointing 2-4 home stand for the Tigers, as they will now hit the road for the second time this season. It will be the first time they meet up with the Minnesota Twins and it will be their third series of the year against an American League Central division rival as they are 3-3 on the year.

The Minnesota Twins had a much different fate this weekend as they manhandled the Chicago White Sox on the way to a three game sweep. It only further increased the White Sox struggles as they have now lost seven games in a row and are in a free fall at the moment. Minnesota currently sits in first place of the American League Central as they hold a slim lead over the Cleveland Guardians. They will be looking to extend that lead and keep the momentum rolling on their current four game winning streak as well. As for the result of this game I am taking the Minnesota Twins to open up the series with a win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (-144)

Jeffery Thomas

The Minnesota Twins will enter this series against the Detroit Tigers on a for-game winning streak in hopes of extending it even further. Sunday was a dramatic win for the Twins, who beat the Chicago White Sox 6-4 in 10 innings to complete the weekend sweep. Byron Buzxton hit the walk-off homer and that just continues the great start to the season he is having. In  just 10 games he is hitting .351 with 6 home runs and 11 RBIs. The Tigers had a rough last two series at home against the Yankees and Colorado Rockies, winning just one game in each set.

Each team is throwing out a pitcher that has yet to record a win on the season. Eduardo Rodriguez is the offseason acquisition for the Tigers that hasn’t paid big dividends yet but he will hope to finally show his worth to his new team in this divisional game. I don’t see it happening with how well the Twins have been playing and specifically on offense, scoring 15 runs in the past two games. That hot streak for Minnesota will continue against this struggling pitching at home.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (-144)

Marko Nadin

The Minnesota Twins are on top of the AL Central with a 8-8 record. They have won the last four games and are coming off a series sweep against the Chicago White Sox. The Twins are sixth in the league allowing only 3.57 runs per game and are ranked 19th in the league scoring 3.70 runs per game. Minnesota will start Chris Paddack who is 0-2 for the season with a 5.00 ERA. Minnesota has won 4 of the last 5 opening games of a series and 5 of the last 7 home games.

The Detroit Tigers are third in the AL Central with a 6-9 record. They have lost the last two games against the Colorado Rockies after winning 12-0 in the previous one. The Tigers are 23rd in the league scoring 3.56 runs per game and 13th allowing 3.90 runs per game. Detroit will start Eduardo Rodriguez who is 0-1 for the season with a 5.27 ERA. Detroit has won 6 of the last 10 games against Minnesota as well as 4 of the last 5 opening games of a series and 13 of the last 17 games following a day off.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (-144)

Oakland Athletics @ San Francisco Giants – 9:45PM ET

It’ll be an all California battle in this one between the two Bay Area Major League Baseball teams. As the Oakland Athletics will face off with the San Francisco Giants in this one. This will be a quick two game series between the two Bay Area rivals.

Tony Battalio

It’s the battle of the Bay Area in this one as these two teams come into this one on seemingly different trajectories for the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Oakland Athletics come into this game with a record of 9-8 through their first 17 games of the season. Which is better than expected from a team that had a complete firesale over the offseason and leading up to the 2022 campaign. They are coming off of decent home stand where they grabbed three of four games from Baltimore but only one of three from Texas to cap it off with a record of 4-3.

The San Francisco Giants are looking like they are going to pick up where they left off at the end of the regular season last year. As they have raced out to a fast start heading into this rivalry series. Over the weekend and Monday they capped off a lengthy road trip that included two three game sweeps against the Cleveland Guardians and Washington Nationals. Now they will be looking to get their home stand started off on the right foot with a win in this one. As for the result of this game I am going with the Giants to do exactly that and pick up the win over Oakland on Tuesday.

Tony’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (-275)

Jeffery Thomas

The San Francisco Giants will host the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday after a quick one game set with the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. The Giants won that home game 4-2 for their fourth consecutive victory that pushed them to 12-5 ok the season. That has them tied atop the NL West with the Los Angeles Dodgers and they will now take on the 9-8 Oakland Athletics. The As were off on Monday but are coming off a series loss to the Texas Rangers that saw them only score 3 runs across the 3 games. That type of offensive output won’t win you many games in this league of course, so they’ll hope Monday’s day off was a chance to regroup and they can start to get some better production starting Tuesday.

When I look at this game I can’t help but see this game going under. The Giants are only giving up 2 runs a game in their last four contests while the As have only scored 1 a game in their last three like I mentioned before. Carlos Rodon is taking the mound for San Fran and has been elite with a 2-0 record and 1.06 ERA so I don’t see the Athletics doing much at the plate against him, while Daulton Jeffries of Oakland also comes in with a super low ERA of 1.17. This game will be a good ole’ fashioned pitching duel.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Under 6.5 runs (-115)

Marko Nadin

The San Francisco Giants are second in the NL West with a 15- record. They have won the last 4 games and are coming off a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Giants are sixth in the league with 4.90 runs per game and second allowing only 2.60 runs per game. The Giants will start Carlos Rondon tonight who is 2-0 for the season with a 1.06 ERA. San Francisco has won 5 of the last 7 games against Oakland and the last 4 interleague games against a team with a winning record.

The Oakland Athletics are third in the AL West with a 9-8 record. They are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Texas Rangers winning the last game by 2-0. The Athletics are 14th in the league scoring 4.15 runs per game and seventh allowing 3.61 runs per game. Oakland will start Daulton Jeffries tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 1.17 ERA. Oakland has won 13 of the last 16 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game and 6 of the last 8 games when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Marko’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (-275)
