Minnesota Twins @ Cleveland Guardians – 1:10PM ET

The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the fifth and final game of their five game series in this one. The Guardians and Twins have both won two games each and now this finale will decide the series winner.

The Minnesota Twins lost a heartbreaker on Wednesday evening, as they held a three run lead going into the bottom of the tenth inning. However, it quickly disappeared when Josh Naylor hit a three run walk-off homerun to give the Cleveland Guardians a 7-6 victory. Now they will be looking to bounce back in the series finale and take the series victory three games to two and extend their lead back to three games in the American League Central division. The Twins come into this game with a record of 43-35 through their first 78 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Cleveland Guardians are coming into this thrilling game with a ton of momentum after their win on Wednesday evening. They are the youngest team in Major League Baseball and are having a pretty successful season as they come into this game with a record of 38-34 through their first 72 games of the season. They are only two games back of the American League Central division lead and have a shot to pull themselves closer on Thursday.

This elongated five-game series between the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins is proving to be a rollercoaster. The two teams have split the first four games after a walk-off homerun by Josh Naylor gave Cleveland a 7-6 win in extra innings on Wednesday night. The Twins had taken a 6-3 lead in the top of the 10th before the Guardians rallied and won, closing the gap in the division to just two games. 

For the finale, I like Cleveland again, especially with Shane Beiber on the mound. In his last start against the Twins, which was last month, he only allowed one run in 6 innings of work while Chris Archer has struggled against Cleveland historically. Give me the home team to close out this series with a win and head into July with some positive momentum.

While they likely will not end up going 19-0 against them this season they are sure to win the season series by a wide margin. The Brewers are having a successful season so far this year as they come into this game with a record of 44-33 through their first 77 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won seven out of their last ten games of the year.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are in the midst of yet another rough season and it isn’t going to get any better for them. As they are facing a tough challenge against the Milwaukee Brewers and they haven’t beaten them once this season. The Pirates are coming into this game with a record of 30-45 through their first 75 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place in the National League Central division at the moment.

Both the Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates were in action on the road on Wednesday, winning their series finales in close contests. The Brewers were facing the Tampa Bay Rays and used two late runs in the last two innings to sneak past their AL East opponent, completing a quick two-game sweep. Pittsburgh was on the road in the nation’s capital and got the 8-7 win to avoid being swept by one of the worst teams in the National League. 

The Pirates have been playing really bad lately and are back at home against a divisional foe who is trotting out a struggling Adrian Houser on the mound for this series opener. The problem is I don’t think the Pirates have the offensive firepower to make him continue his struggles and for that reason, I have to roll with the Brewers who are clearly the better team of the two.

The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.76 runs per game and 25th allowing 5.14 runs per game. They will start JT Brubaker tonight who is 1-7 for the season with a 4.14 ERA. The Pirates have won 4 of the last 5 home games and have lost 21 of the last 29 opening games of a series.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on top of the NL Central with a 44-33 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-0 series win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Brewers are 13th in the league scoring 4.52 runs per game and are ranked 12th in the league allowing 4.23 runs per game. Adrian Houser will be the starting pitcher for the Brewers tonight who is 4-8 for this season with a 4.50 ERA. Milwaukee has won the last 4 games against teams with a losing record under 40% and 6 of the last 7 games when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Toronto Blue Jays  – 7:07PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays will be playing the first game of their five game weekend series in this one. These two American League East teams have met once this season and the Rays won the series two games to one.

They have already won one series against their up north division rivals and now they will be looking to win a second one. The Rays come into this game with a record of 40-34 and in fourth place of the American League East division. They have won five out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a two game losing streak at the moment. 

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming into this game in third place of the American League East division. They currently have a record of 42-33 through their first 75 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their ten games on the year but currently find themselves on a one game losing streak at the moment. They have been solid at home so far this season as they have won 23 of their first 38 home games of the year.

The Tampa Bay Rays will travel north of the border to take on Toronto after dropping both games at home in a two-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers. Both losses were by a score of 5-3 and now they’ll head back on the road where they are just 2-7 in their last nine. The Blue Jays dropped their game on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox and a win there would have given them a clean three-game sweep. 

Taking two of the three was still good enough to get Toronto within a half game of the Sox for second place in the division though and now they’ll have to maneuver another tough opponent here to continue that climb up the standings. The road struggles of the Rays can’t be ignored and now they have to travel on no days rest to play a very dangerous opponent in a whole different country? Yea give me the Blue Jays to protect their home field in this one.

They have won six out of their last ten games of the year and are currently on a one game winning streak at the moment. They have won 20 of their first 32 home games of the year.

The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers are set to start up a pivotal series at the halfway part of the season. LA leads the NL West by one game over San Diego and gets this four-game series at home to try and extend that lead even further. The Rockies were able to take two of three from the Dodgers in their most recent series while the Padres split a series on the road with the Diamondbacks. 

Joe Musgrove is getting the ball for the Padres in this one and is coming off his worst outing of the year last time out against the Phillies. He gave up 6 runs and it was the first time all season that he gave up over 2 runs in an outing so it was definitely n outlier performance. He gives San Diego a significant pitching advantage in this one over Mitch White and the plus money value is too good to pass up here.

The Seattle Mariners are a young team and with youth comes growing pains. They have experienced a ton of those so far this season as they come into this game with a record of 36-41 through their first 77 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place of the American League West division ahead of only their opponents in this season.

The Oakland Athletics were swept out the Nea York Yankees on the road and now will make the long trip out to the West Coast to take on the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners are coming off taking two of three from the Baltimore Orioles and have now won their last three series. That includes a sweep of the Athletics in Oakland just over a week ago. 

Not much should be expected to be different this time around, especially with the Ms being at home. Seattle is the superior team in every way imaginable and with Logan Gilbert on the mound expect the As to not get much going at the plate. Give me Seattle in a multi-run victory.
