Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Guardians – 7:10PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the first game of their four game weekend series in this one. These two American League Central teams have met three previous times this season. The Detroit Tigers currently lead the season series seven games to two.

The Detroit Tigers will head to Cleveland for an all important four game series before heading into the all star break. They are coming off of a four game series loss to the Kansas City Royals and a four game series split with the Chicago White Sox. The last series they won was a three game sweep over the Cleveland Guardians as they have surprisingly had their number this season. Unfortunately for Detroit it hasn’t quite carried over as they come into this game with a record of 37-52 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Cleveland Guardians are in desperate need of stringing some victories together before the 2022 Major League Baseball all-star break. They are coming into this game fresh off of a series split with the Chicago White Sox. They haven’t had much luck against the Detroit Tigers this season which is rare for them since they have dominated Detroit in years past. They come into this game with a record of 43-44 through their first 87 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Detroit Tigers will continue this extended road trip in hopes of turning around their fortunes. They have now lost five of their last six games following the 5-2 loss on Wednesday to the Kansas City Royals who took two of three in that AL Central series. Detroit is set for another division series, this time against the Cleveland Guardians who dropped their series finale with the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday 2-1. Cleveland is now a game under .500 at 43-44 after just leading the AL Central last month. 

Their quest to climb back up the standings will start here against a Tigers team that just swept them in four games earlier this month. Every win in that series for Detroit was by 2 runs or more so it was no fluke and in all honesty they are still looking like the better team at the moment. The problem though, is Elvin Rodriguez on the mound who has given up 18 runs in his last two outings for Detroit. There’s no way I can back them with a guy on the mound who can put them in such a big hole early on so I think this is a great opportunity for the Guardians to ink a win.

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 43-44 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-2 series tie against the Chicago White Sox. Cleveland is 17th in the league scoring 4.37 runs per game and is ranked 29th in the league allowing 4.48 runs per game. The Guardians will start Triston McKenzie tonight who is 6-6 for the season with a 3.47 ERA. Cleveland has lost 9 of the last 15 home games and the last five games against the Detroit Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with a 37-52 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 1-3 series loss against the Kansas City Royals. The Tigers are at the bottom of the league scoring 3.29 runs per game and are ranked 17th in the league allowing 4.39 runs per game. Elvin Rodriguez will start tonight for the Tigers who is 0-2 for the season with a 11.51 ERA . Detroit has lost 7 of the last 11 road games and 4 of the last 5 following a loss.

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Miami Marlins – 12:10PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game series in this one. The Pirates got the win in game number one and two to clinch at least a share of the series. In game number three it was the Marlins who added a solid win.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been a lot better over the last few weeks than they have been for the majority of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They got a couple of big wins in the first two games of the series but choked away a huge opportunity in game number three. The Pirates are coming into the fourth and final game of this series with a record of 38-51 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season as they have won six out of their last ten on the season. 

The Miami Marlins got a huge comeback win in game three of this series as they scored multiple runs in the bottom of the tenth to grab a walk off win. They are coming into this game with a record of 42-45 through their first 87 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place of the National League East at the moment as they sit 12 games back of the New York Mets. They have won five out of their last ten games on the season but I have them losing the finale of this series.

The series finale between the Miami Marlins and Pittsburgh Pirates is set for Thursday afternoon with the Marlins needing a win to salvage a split. Miami got their first win of this set on Wednesday, 5-4 in extra innings with Jesus Aguilar scoring the walk-off run on a wild pitch. It was a weird game that was a toss up so I’m not getting down on Pittsburgh for losing that one and in fact, I’m going right back to them in the finale.

 The Marlins are not batting well enough for me to be confident in them at the moment, as they are averaging just under 3 runs a game so far in this series. The Pirates had won four straight before that loss on Wednesday and while Zach Thompson’s numbers don’t jump off the page at you, he has not allowed over 2 runs in a start since May 25. Give me Pittsburgh here to close out this series on the road with yet another win.

The Miami Marlins are fourth in the NL East with a 42-45 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 5-4, 10th inning win over the Pirates. Miami is ranked 20th in the league scoring 4.29 runs per game and 14th in the league allowing 4.28 runs per game. Braxton Garrett will start for the Marlins tonight who is 1-3 for the season with a 4.33 ERA. Miami has won 11 of the last 14 games against teams with a losing record and has lost 5 of the last 6 games against NL Central opponents.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 38-51 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are leading 2-1 in the series against the Marlins. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.78 runs per game and 26th allowing 5.23 runs per game. They will start Zach Thompson tonight who is 3-6 for the season with a 4.38 ERA. The Pirates have lost 40 of the last 59 road games against teams with a winning record and have won 6 of the last 8 fourth games of a series.

San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies – 3:10PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game series in this one. In game one the Padres got the series opening win. While the Rockies bounced back in game two with a win. In game three the Rockies added another win.

The San Diego Padres will be looking to bounce back after losing the last two games in this series. They head into the finale of this four game series looking to secure at least a split of the series. The Padres are coming into this game with a record of 50-40 through their first 90 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in second place of the National League West at the moment as they trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by eight and a half games. 

The Colorado Rockies are coming into this game with a record of 40-49 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten games on the season and currently find themselves on a two game winning streak. They currently trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by eighteen games at the moment. I have them picking up the win in the finale of this series as well.

The game Thursday evening between the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres will be the final game of a quick four game road trip for the Padres. They will return home to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks (who they just went 4-1 against in June) for a three-game weekend series. The Rockies, on the other hand,will stay at home to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. The series finale on Thursday favors the Padres in a big way thanks to the pitching matchup. 

Blake Snell started the year very slowly, but has put together a couple quality starts in a row, including going 6 innings against the Giants last outing for his first win of the year. Kyle Freeland has given up 13 runs in his last three starts and should have a rough day slowing this San Diego offense down in that Colorado altitude. Give me the road team in this one.

The San Diego Padres are second in the NL West with a 50-40 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games including back-to-back losses to the Rockies. The Padres are 18th in the league scoring 4.37 runs per game and are 8th in the league allowing 3.95 runs per game. San Diego will start Blake Snell tonight who is 1-5 for the season with a 4.66 ERA. Houston Astros @ Los Angeles Angels – 8:07PM ET

The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. It was the Astros who got the win in game number one. In game number two the Los Angeles Angels bounced back with a win.

The Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball this season. They come into the final of this three game series with a record of 57-30 through their first 87 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won seven out of their last ten games on the year. They are currently on a one game losing streak as they will be looking to win the finale of this series. They currently hold an eleven game lead over the second place Seattle Mariners in the American League West. 

The Los Angeles Angels are desperate for a series win at the moment. They had such a great start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season and now are very disappointing heading into the all-star break. They are currently 39-50 through their first 89 games of the season. They have lost eight out their last ten games on the year and have been struggling for a while now. I have them losing the finale of this series as well.

The Los Angeles Angels have been one of the worst teams in baseball recently and will try to get a win against their rival Houston Astros in the series finale. Starting pitcher for Los Angeles has one start against the Astros this season, way back on April 8, and he got a no-decision going four innings and giving up 2 runs. That’s one of his best starts this year, as he’s been mostly up and down, with a big emphasis on the down. He’s 2-3 with a 4.23 ERA and will be squaring off against Framber Valdez who is 8-4 with a 2.64 ERA. 

Framber had a great stretch going from May to early June but has been average in his last three outings. This is a good opportunity to get back on track for him against a struggling Angels team that can’t seem to put a string of wins together no matter what. I like the way this sets up for Houston and the way here should be pretty straightforward.

The Angels are 25th in the league scoring 4.08 runs per game and 15th in the league allowing 4.33 runs per game. The Angels will start Reid Detmers tonight who is 2-3 for the season with a 4.22 ERA. The Angels have lost 15 of the last 22 home games and 10 of the last 12 games against teams with a winning record over 60%.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 57-30 record. They have won 4 of the last 6 games and are currently tied at one game apiece in the series against the Angels. The Astros are 12th scoring 4.61 runs per game and are ranked third in the league allowing 3.39 runs per game. Houston will start Framber Valdez tonight who is 8-4 for the season with a 2.64 ERA. The Astros have won 5 of the last 6 road games against teams with a winning record and 17 of the last 21 third games of a series.

Milwaukee Brewers @ San Francisco Giants – 9:45PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants will be playing the first game of their four game weekend series in this one. They played one game against each other earlier this season and the San Francisco Giants came out on top by a score of four to two.

The Milwaukee Brewers are coming into this game after splitting a two game series with the American League Central division leading Minnesota Twins. The Brewers come into this game with a record of 49-40 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Brewers are currently in first place of the National League Central at the moment as they lead the St.Louis Cardinals by a few games as we near the all-star break. 

The San Francisco Giants are coming into this game with a record of 45-42 through their first 87 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They got a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of their series on Wednesday afternoon. They have won five out of their last ten on the year and are currently on a two game winning streak as well. I have the San Francisco Giants picking up the win in this one.

The Milwaukee Brewers travel out West to the Bay for a weekend series with the San Francisco Giants starting up Thursday night. The Brew Crew are coming off a split of their two-game interleague series with the Minnesota Twins where they dropped the second game 4-1 after winning 6-3 the day before. The San Francisco Giants avenged their series loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this month by taking two of three in this most recent series that concluded on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Giants had to rally from down 3-0 to win 4-3 in the finale and now sit three games over .500 at 45-42. This is an even matchup on paper and I could see this one going either way as both teams will have their aces going. Corbin Burnes of Milwaukee however comes in with just a bit more form as he is 4-0 in his last five starts, only allowing 6 runs total. I think he can shut this Giants lineup down on the road and get his guys the victory on Thursday.
