Oakland Athletics @ Los Angeles Angels – 4:07PM ET

The Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Angels will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one it was the Los Angeles Angels who got the win. In game two the Athletics picked up the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series in game three.

Tony Battalio

The Oakland Athletics picked up a huge win in game two of this series against the Los Angeles Angels. The Athletics are coming into this game with a record of 40-66 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are already all but officially eliminated from playoff contention at this point as they are 28 games back from first place. They have won six out of their last ten games on the season.

The Los Angeles Angels are another team struggling at the moment. They come into this game with a record of 44-60 through their first 104 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten games on the year. They come into this game on a one game losing streak and I have them losing game three of this series as well.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Oakland Athletics (+100)

Game 2 of this three game AL West series went the way of the road Oakland Athletics who even things up after losing the opening game 3-1 on Tuesday. James Kaprielian kept his hot streak going in this game, pitching 5.1 innings of one run ball while striking out 4 and getting credited with the win. It’s his third win of the year, and all of them have come in his last six outings (3-0) where he has only allowed a combined 7 runs. There was no Mike Trout in the lineup for the Angels and Shohei Ohtani was held hitless, so it’s no shock that the Angels could not produce anything on offense.

The wins have been few and far in between for LA and I don’t think this team even has the capability to win games at the moment. Their stars are beat up or disgruntled after being thrown in trade rumors and it’s just a complete mess. Their season is going nowhere and another loss is on the horizon for them in the series finale against Oakland.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Oakland Athletics (+100)

The Los Angeles Angels are fourth in the AL West with a 44-60 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are currently tied at 1-1 in the series against the Oakland Athletics. The Angels are 24th in the league scoring 3.97 runs per game and 15th in the league allowing 4.34 runs per game. The Angels will start Janson Junk who is 1-0 for the season. The Angels have won 7 of the last 10 third games of a series and have lost 15 of the last 21 home games against right-handed starters.

The Oakland Athletics are at the bottom of the AL West with a 40-66 record. Last night’s 3-1 win over the Angels put an end to their three-game losing streak. The Athletics are second to last in the league scoring 3.48 runs per game and are 22nd in the league allowing 4.60 runs per game. Oakland will start Paul Blackburn who is 6-6 for the season with 4.15 ERA. The Athletics have won 8 of the last 10 games against right-handed starters and have lost 12 of the last 17 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Los Angeles Angels (-120)

Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies – 7:05PM ET

The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the first game of their four game weekend series in this one. These two National League East teams have met twice already this season. The Phillies currently lead the series six games to two.

Tony Battalio

The Washington Nationals are in the middle of an absolutely terrible season as they come into game one of this series with a record of 36-70 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are a full 31 games out of first place in the National League East and all but officially eliminated from playoff contention at this point in this season. They have lost five out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game on a one game losing streak.

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming into this game with a record of 56-48 through their first 104 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place of the National League East division as they find themselves ten games out of first place. They have won seven out of their last ten games on the year and come into this game on a one game winning streak.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies (-238)

The Philadelphia Phillies wrapped up their series with the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday by getting a huge 3-1 win to salvage a split with their divisional foes. It was a nice bounce back performance after losing 13-1 the day before and it’s all thanks to Nick Castellanos and his two-run home run that broke a 1-1 tie in the 8th inning. It was a big win for the Phillies who now have sole possession of the final wild card spot in the National League. The Washington Nationals were also in action on Wednesday as they suffered a 9-5 loss at the hands of the New York Mets to drop that series.

It’s going to be a rough end of the season for the Nats who traded away their two best hitters, Juan Soto and Josh Bell, ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. This game was loss number five in the past seven games and they currently hold the worst record in the Major Leagues at 36-70. Noah Syndergaard will be making his Philadelphia debut in this one after being traded there from the Angels and he could not have asked for an easier draw. I expect him to come out fired up with his new team and pitch a gem, leading them to a comfortable victory.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (-120)

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 56-48 record. They have won 6 of the last 7 games and are coming off a 1-1 series tie against the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies are 9th in the league scoring 4.67 runs per game and 10th in the league allowing 4.20 runs per game. Noah Syndergaard will be the Phillies’ starter tonight who is 5-8 for the season with a 3.83 ERA. Philadelphia has won the last 7 games played on Thursday and 15 of the last 22 games when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 36-70 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the New York Mets. The Nationals are 26th in the league scoring 3.92 runs per game and are 30th in the league allowing 5.58 runs per game. Washington will start Paolo Espino tonight who is 0-3 for the season with a 3.78 ERA. The Nationals have lost 36 of the last 52 games after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game and 51 of the last 69 games against teams with a winning record.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies (-238)

Houston Astros @ Cleveland Guardians – 7:10PM ET

The Houston Astros and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the first game of their four game weekend series in this one. The Astros are currently sitting on top of the AL West, with a record of 68-38. The Guardians are one game behind first place in the AL Central, with a record of 54-50.

Tony Battalio

The Houston Astros are coming into this game with a record of 68-38 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have a commanding lead over the rest of the teams in the American League West division as the next closest team to them is the Seattle Mariners who are 11 games back of first place. Houston is in a bit of a slump at the moment as they have lost six out of their last ten games on the year.

The Cleveland Guardians got a huge series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks with their win on Wednesday afternoon. Cleveland now comes into the first game of this four game series with a record of 54-50 through their first 104 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They trail the Minnesota Twins by a single game in the American League Central division standings as they will be looking to pull even with a win in this game.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians (+170)

Jeffery Thomas

The Cleveland Guardians took down the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-4 on Wednesday in the finale to take that series and now will stay at home and welcome in a much more difficult task. The Houston Astros are coming to town fresh off a 6-1 win over the Boston Red Sox to avoid a sweep in that series. The two losses they suffered to Boston were games that could have gone either way and were both settled by just one run.

These two teams met back in May and Houston will be hoping for similar results as they took two of three at home in that series. This time it’s on the road for the Astros but this series should get off to a great start with their veteran ace Justin Verlander taking the mound. He is fully in-form despite being almost 40 years old and I don’t see the Guardians having much success at the plate in this one. Give me the Astros.

Houston Astros (-210)

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 54-50 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cleveland is 15th in the league scoring 4.50 runs per game and is ranked 16th in the league allowing 4.34 runs per game. The Guardians will start Zach Plesac tonight who is 2-9 for the season with a 4.33 ERA. Cleveland has won 4 of the last 5 opening games of a series and 5 of the last 6 home games.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 68-38 record. The Astros have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Boston Red Sox. The Astros are 14th scoring 4.50 runs per game and are ranked second in the league allowing 3.37 runs per game. Houston will start Justin Verlander tonight who is 14-3 for the season with a 1.81 ERA. The Astros have won the last 5 road games against teams with a winning record and 19 of the last 28 road games overall.

Houston Astros (-210)

Toronto Blue Jays @ Minnesota Twins – 7:40PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins will be playing the first game of their four game weekend series in this one. Both of these teams are likely going to be playoff teams this season and this could be a potential preview of what is to come in October. They could very well meet later down the line for a trip to the ALCS or World Series.

Tony Battalio

The Toronto Blue Jays come into game one of this series with a record of 58-46 through their first 104 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in second place of the American League East division as they trail the New York Yankees by 11 games. They have won seven out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game on a one game losing streak, as they will be looking to bounce back from their loss.

The Minnesota Twins come into this game in first place of the American League Central division as they currently have a record of 55-49 through the first 104 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten games on the year. They are currently on a one game winning streak. They will be looking to gain some distance between themselves and the Cleveland Guardians.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays (-120)

Jeffery Thomas

The Toronto Blue Jays will continue their road trip as they head to Minneapolis to start up a series with the Minnesota Twins. They lost game two of their quick two-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday but still hold the top spot in the Wild Card race in the American League at the moment. Speaking of top spots, that is where the Minnesota Twins sit in the AL Central, as the 4-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers yesterday helped them maintain their narrow division lead.

Navigating through this series against the Blue Jays and escaping with that lead still intact will be a difficult task and we just saw these teams meet up in June where Toronto took two of three. The Blue Jays are sending out Alek Manoah to face Sonny Gray and it should be a low scoring affair as these aces square off. I don’t see a way this total goes over unless this turns into a bullpen game, but both guys have the ability to go 6-7+ strong innings. I’m liking the under in this series opener as these two teams feel each other out.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Under 7.5 (+100)

The Minnesota Twins are on top of the AL Central with a 55-49 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Detroit Tigers. The Twins are 10th in the league scoring 4.59 runs per game and are ranked 14th allowing 4.31 runs per game. Minnesota will start Sonny Gray tonight who is 6-3 for the season with a 3.41 ERA. The Twins have lost 5 of the last 6 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game and 5 of the last 7 opening games of a series.

The Toronto Blue Jays are second in the AL East with a 58-46 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-1 series tie with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Blue Jays are 3rd in the league scoring 4.87 runs per game and are ranked 12th with 4.27 allowed runs per game. Toronto will start Alek Manoah tonight who is 11-5 for the season with a 2.43 ERA. The Blue Jays have won 4 of the last 5 road games against teams with a winning record and 10 of the last 12 games against right-handed starters.

Toronto Blue Jays (-120)

Boston Red Sox @ Kansas City Royals – 8:10PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals will be playing the first game of their four game weekend series in this one. The Red Sox are in last place in the AL East, with a record of 53-53. The Royals are at the bottom of AL Central, and their record sits at 41-64.

Tony Battalio

The Boston Red Sox have been struggling a lot recently and they are starting to get desperate for victories as the season is coming down to the final stretch. They come into game one of this series with a record of 53-53 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season and they are currently in last place in the American League East division. They have lost five out of their last ten games on the season and are seventeen games out of first place behind the New York Yankees.

The Kansas City Royals aren’t having the best of seasons either as they are currently in last place of the American League Central division. They come into this game with a record of 41-64 through their first 105 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They currently find themselves fourteen and a half games out of first place in the division. They have lost seven out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game on a two game losing streak.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Boston Red Sox (-138)

Jeffery Thomas

The Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals have a lot in common as they get set to square off on Thursday. Both teams are in the American League and in last place in their respective divisions. Also, each team suffered a loss in their series finales on Wednesday and they both only could score one run in that game. That sets the scene for this weekend series that is a great opportunity for a struggling Boston Red Sox team to close in on that 3 game gap between them and that last wild card spot.

The problem is Nick Pivetta, who is slated to start this game for the Sox, has not recorded a win in his last six starts (0-3) and just is lacking any type of command on the mound. Facing these bad Royals though should be enough to change his fortunes, and I think the Red Sox seize this opportunity and get this series started off with a good win on the road.

Boston Red Sox (-138)

The Kansas City Royals are fourth in the AL Central with a 41-64 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Chicago White Sox. Kansas City is ranked 27th in the league scoring only 3.90 runs per game and 27th allowing 5.19 runs per game. The Royals will start Kris Bubic tonight who is 2-6 for the season with a 5.45 ERA. Kansas City has lost 37 of the last 51 games when their opponent allowed 5 runs or more in their previous game and 34 of the last 50 games against teams with a winning record.

The Boston Red Sox are on the bottom of the AL East with a 53-53 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Houston Astros. The Red Sox are 13th in the league scoring 4.51 runs per game and are ranked 24th in the league allowing 4.70 runs per game. Boston will start Nick Pivetta tonight who is 8-8 for the season with a 4.47 ERA. The Red Sox have won 92 of the last 134 games against teams with a losing record under 40% and 13 of the last 17 games against left-handed starters.

Boston Red Sox (-138)
