Free MLB Picks Today for Sunday, May 2nd, 2021
Sun 2nd May 2021

After a massive couple of days of betting, we want to round out the weekend in style, with five winners from our MLB picks!

Look below to find our free MLB Picks for the five best games on today’s schedule!

St Louis Cardinals @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 1.05PM ET

These two sides are facing off for the third and final time in this three game mini-series and the Cardinals are looking for the sweep. After a 7-3 win on Friday, St Louis used a five run ninth innings to seal the deal last night, winning 12-5.

Tyler O’Neill scored three runs across the two games while Paul Goldschmidt unleashed for four runs last night for the Cardinals. This offensive onslaught allowed St Louis to improve to 15-12 for the season and 8-6 on the road, the second best road record in the conference.

Pittsburgh on the other hand are seriously struggling this season, currently 12-14 for the season and being the lowest rated team so far. Bryan Reynolds scored three of their eight runs across the two games and without him, this offense would be in tatters.

Given St Louis has taken the first two games between the sides, we don’t see any reason why they can’t take the third. Pittsburgh could turn out to be one of the worst teams in the league this season, we just haven’t got deep enough into it yet.

Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees – 1.05PM ET

Alarm bells were ringing for the New York Yankees but a trio of games against the Detroit Tigers, of which they have won the first two, were exactly what the doctor ordered. The first of the three games saw a 10-0 win to New York and they followed that up with another comfortable, yet closer, 6-4 win.

Aaron Judge returned in emphatic fashion, hitting two home runs in the first game before scoring again in the second. Giancarlo Stanton scored two runs in the first game too, but he got rested last night and is looking forward to getting back out there and is primed for more runs tonight.

Meanwhile for Detroit, there isn’t a lot to be happy about, sitting at 8-20 for the season and down 4-16 overall against the Yankees from their two games. When looking at overall team ratings, Detroit ranks second last in the league and last for projected wins based on games played so far.

While the second game was much closer than the first, the result stayed the same and we expect it to this afternoon. New York is seen as one of the most stacked teams in the league and was seen as a World Series favorite before the season started, they are just second favorite now.

Atlanta Braves @ Toronto Blue Jays – 1.07PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays have taken the first two over the Atlanta Braves and have won four of their last five overall, climbing to second in the AL East division. The two losses for Atlanta make it three straight overall, sitting 12-15 for the season, second last in the NL east and equal third last in the in their conference.

All nine batters scored in Toronto’s 13-5 win on Friday with Alejandro Kirk being the pick of the bunch with four runs across the two games. George Springer was next best offensively with three runs, two important ones last night in their 6-5 win.

Atlanta are obviously struggling this season and despite scoring five runs in both innings, their defense is definitely off at the moment. Over their last three games, all losses, they have given up 28 runs and now average the third most runs against in the league.

Toronto is yet to name their starting pitcher for this clash, leaving many to question whether they will claim the third matchup. However Atlanta have brought in Ian Anderson, their best ERA pitcher and one that is 2-0 so far this season. He has given up just eight runs across 29 innings and is obviously Atlanta’s home run play in this series. With that being said, there is some serious value in taking the Blue Jays as underdogs in this one. They have claimed the first two contests and are less than 48 hours off scoring 13 runs against the same side.

Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox – 2.10PM ET

The Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox have split the first two matchups between the sides with the rubber to be held this afternoon. With this being a traditional AL Central rivalry matchup and Cleveland taking the first, 5-3, before losing last night 3-7, there is a lot on the line in this one.

Following their 7-3 win last night, Chicago’s offense has become one of the best in the league. They rank second for batting average and first for on base percentage, all whilst ranking 26th for home runs. This team plays the percentages and just gets hits, what every team needs to keep on keeping on, which has seen them rise to 15-11 overall and second in their division.

Cleveland on the other hand is second last for batting average and has brought on their third worst ERA pitcher that we have seen this season. Zach Plesac’s ERA is a massive 5.81 whilst having a record of just 1-3.

Things aren’t looking good for the Indians in this one, given their result last night and then pitching change for this afternoon. Cleveland are just 5-7 on the road this season and already 2.5 games back on the White Sox this season. Chicago is the better team here and it should be on display this afternoon.

Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 4.10PM ET

The two worst teams in the NL West will face off for the fourth straight time and the Colorado Rockies, on the road, will be looking to even the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The home side claimed the first two matchups, however last night Colorado won 14-6 and now have momentum on their side.

Raimel Tapia and Trevor Story combined for seven of the 14 runs in the win with the team scoring seven in a decisive eighth innings. Despite such a poor record, 10-17 and worst in the conference, Colorado ranks seventh for batting average and seventh for hits so far this season.

The issue is the Rockies have the worst WHIP in the league and Arizona has taken advantage of that. They have scored 18 runs through the first three matchups between the two sides but their issue last night was defense. After giving up just five points through the first two games, the 14 last night is quite a worry. They have brought in Merrill Kelly for this clash and while he has an ERA of 6.33, the last time he started the Diamondbacks gave up just one run for the entire match.

There is a four game difference between the sides and that is quite large given both sides have played just 27 games so far. Arizona have scored the most runs so far this season and their high powered offense will be on show this afternoon. Colorado has been terrible on the defensive side of the ball this season and Arizona will want to finish this series on a high note.
