Oakland Athletics @ Cleveland Guardians – 11:35AM ET

The Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Guardians are playing game number three of their three game weekend series in this one. In game number one of this series the Cleveland Guardians picked up the victory. In game two the Athletics picked up the win to even up the series.

Tony Battalio

The Oakland Athletics got a huge win on Saturday in comeback fashion as they kind of repaid the Guardians for their comeback win on Friday evening. They now find themselves heading into the series finale on Sunday with an opportunity to grab a huge series victory. They now come into this game with a record of 21-40 through their first 61 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Cleveland Guardians will be looking to bounce back in this series finale as they will look to keep their series win streak alive and keep their hot play going. The Guardians come into this game with a record of 28-27 through their first 56 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As for the result of this game I am going with the Cleveland Guardians to get the win and finish off the series with a win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Cleveland Guardians (-174)

Noah Dunlap

In the final game of this three game set, we get the Oakland A’s taking on the Cleveland Guardians from Cleveland. The A’s have started this season much like they’ve started every season over the past few years, which is to say they struggle for the first 40+ games or so, before turning things on and making a run to the postseason, or just barely missing postseason play. I’m not sure why we’d expect anything different this year, but seeing as they just finally ended a 10-game skid, they are going to have to turn this around in a hurry. The one concern here is that Oakland currently sits 29th out of 30 teams in MLB this year in runs per game. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like it’s probably hard to win games when the whole purpose of the game is to score runs.

For Cleveland, they’ve been average this year, and I do mean virtually square on the line of average, as they sit at a game over .500 on the year. The good news is that their offense hits the ball much better, as they sit at eighth in the league in runs per game. With their team pitching sitting at sixth in ERA, this is a Guardians team that is playing pretty good baseball, and more importantly, well balanced ball. Give me Cleveland to win the series here, with a final score somewhere around 7-4.

Noah’s MLB Pick: Cleveland Guardians -1.5 (+134)

Arizona DiamondbacksPhiladelphia Phillies – 1:35PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the third game of their three game weekend series in this one. In game one and two  it was the Phillies who picked up the victory to clinch the series.

Tony Battalio

The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming into this game with a record of 28-33 through their first 61 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost their last two games in a row as they now trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by double digits in the National League West division. They have picked up only three victories out of their last ten games on the year.

The Philadelphia Phillies are red hot at the moment. They have picked up victories in their last nine games of the year. They have won nine out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game trailing the New York Mets by eight and a half games for the lead in the National League East. They come into this game with a record of 30-29 through their first 59 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As for the result of this game I am going with the Philadelphia Phillies to get another win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Philadelphia Phillies (-230)

Noah Dunlap

The last game of this series gives us the Philadelphia Phillies hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks in a matchup of two teams that have had similar seasons, but are on two different stretches right now. The visiting Diamondbacks are 3-7 in their last 10, and just trending downwards, while the Philadelphia Phillies are 9-1 in that same stretch, and have been playing much better baseball since firing Joe Girardi last week, as they’re 7-0 since moving on.

With baseball being such a weird sport, where streaks don’t normally last all that long, I’m a little hesitant to assume the Phils can continue the hot stretch. However, with the D-Backs just fading as of late, I’m still going to lean Philadelphia by a nose here, as they complete the sweep of this three game set.

Noah’s MLB Pick: Philadelphia Phillies (-230)

Tampa Bay Rays @ Minnesota Twins – 2:10PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays and Minnesota Twins will be playing game three of their three game series on Sunday afternoon. In game one and two of the series it was the Minnesota Twins who got the win. Now they will be looking to get the sweep on Sunday.

Tony Battalio

The Tampa Bay Rays choked away a three run to zero lead to the Minnesota Twins to lose the second game of this series and officially fail to win the series as well. The loss dropped their record to 34-25 through their first 59 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place of the American League East division at the moment. However, they are currently on a two game losing streak and have picked up six victories in their last ten games.

The Minnesota Twins are coming into this game with a record of 35-26 through the first 61 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in first place of the American League Central division as they hold a respectable lead over the Cleveland Guardians. They are currently on a two game winning streak and have won five out of their last ten games. As for the result of this game I am going with the Minnesota Twins to finish off the sweep.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (+108)

Noah Dunlap

These two teams also find themselves in similar situations this year, with only the fact that they’re in different divisions being the key difference. The Tampa Bay Rays sit at 34-25 on the year, but are only third in the AL East, due to the years that the Yankees and Blue Jays have been having, while the Minnesota Twins are 35-26, but find themselves leading the weaker AL Central.

They’ve also been on similar runs through their last 10, with the Rays sitting at 6-4, while the Twins have played .500 ball through that stretch. This should be a good game between two solid ball clubs, but in the end, give me Minnesota to get the win at home, as while home-field advantage doesn’t usually mean that much in baseball, I think the Twins use what they have in the last game of this series to pull out the victory.

Noah’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (+108)

Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants – 4:05PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants will be playing game three of their three game series on Sunday afternoon. In game one of the series it was the New York Mets who got the win. In game two the San Francisco Giants evened up the series with a win.

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming into this game with a record of 37-22 through their first 59 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in first place of the National League West division, as they hold a four and a half game lead over their opponents in this one for the division lead. They have picked up four victories in their last ten games of the season.

The San Francisco Giants are coming into this one looking to grab another victory and clinch the series over their National League West divisional rivals. They are 32-26 through their first 58 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a two game winning streak. As for the result of this game I am going with the San Francisco Giants to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (+114)

Noah Dunlap

These two bitter rivals look to wrap up their three game series in the Bay Sunday afternoon, with both teams struggling just a bit as of late, sitting right around .500 in their last 10. With the LA Dodgers having been the most consistent team in the league for much of the past three years or so, it is hard to pick against them on any given day, even when taking on their rivals up north on the road. To be fair, the job that San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler has done to turn around that program is solid, but I’m not sure that lineup has the talent necessary to dethrone the Dodgers on top of the NL West right now.

While LA hasn’t been as dominant this year as they’ve been in years past, it still seems foolish to bet against them, especially with Jose Urias on the mound, who, while only 3-5 on the year, has a solid ERA at 2.78. At some point, this offense is going to give him some help during his outings, and I think this is a great time to start. Take LA to get the win in the Bay, and salvage at least one out of this three game series.

Noah’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (-134)

New York Mets @ Los Angeles Angels – 7:08PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and New York Mets will be playing game three of their three game series on Sunday evening. In game one of the series it was the New York Mets who got the win and in game two the Angels got the win to even up the series. Now it will be a winner takes all game three.

Tony Battalio

The New York Mets are coming into this game as one of the best teams in Major League Baseball so far this season. They come into this game with a record of 39-22 through their first 61 games of the season. They are currently in first place of the National League East division as they lead the defending World Series champions by five and half games. They are currently on a one game losing streak and have won only five out of their last ten games on the season.

The Los Angeles Angels have been playing miserable baseball over the last couple of weeks. They come into this game after grabbing a huge win over the New York Mets on Saturday evening to send this series into a winner takes all game on Sunday. They come into this game with a record of 29-32 through their first 61 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As for the result of this game I am going with the Los Angeles Angels to get another win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels (-110)

Noah Dunlap

The New York Mets have travelled cross country for this three game set out on the west coast, looking to continue the tremendous run they’ve been on this season, as right now they’ve simply been running away with the NL East. They take on an Angels team who, despite being atrocious as of late, having lost 10 of 11, they still find themselves in second place of the AL West, as they do their best to ride the tremendous tandem that is Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.

While there clearly have to be some concerns with the cold stretch that they’ve been on for the past two weeks or so, there’s still enough talent throughout this lineup to figure things out, and with the baseball season being so long, despite the slump, there’s still going to be room to contend for one of the wild-card spots. However, with the Mets playing as well as they have all year long, I’m leaning towards taking them on Sunday Night Baseball, as they look to win this one and take the series on the road.

Noah’s MLB Pick: New York Mets (-106)
