Houston Astros @ Cleveland Guardians – 12:05PM ET

The Houston Astros and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game one it was the Astros who picked up the victory. In game two the Astros added another win to clinch at least a share of the series. In game three the Guardians got the win.

The Houston Astros will be looking to bounce back after their rough loss in game three of this four game series. They still find themselves in control of the series as they lead it two games to one heading into Sunday’s finale. They are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball this season as they come into the fourth game of this series with a record of 70-39 through their first 109 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Cleveland Guardians used a ton of early offense to get themselves a much needed victory over the Houston Astros in game one of this four game weekend series. They now have a chance to split this four game series with another win in the finale on Sunday afternoon. They come into this one with a record of 55-52 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Guardians have won five out of their last ten games on the season.

Saturday’s game between the Houston Astros and Cleveland Guardians assures that the Guardians will not be swept as they finally won a game in this series thanks to another great pitching performance from Cal Quantrill. He went six innings without allowing a run and is now 4-0 in his last six starts for Cleveland. It was the first win at home for the Guardians against Houston in eight games (dating back to July 2019) and they’ll now go for a split in the series with another win on Sunday. Christian Javier will be the starter for Houston and has a five start (0-4 5.11 ERA) winless streak he is looking to erase. 

Triston McKenzie will be going for Cleveland and he has lost his last two starts but already owns a win over the Astros this season. Won’t mean much on Sunday though and I’m expecting a bounce-back from the AL’s second best team in a big way and I’m rolling with the run line.

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 55-52 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-1 win last night against the Astros. Cleveland is 16th in the league scoring 4.44 runs per game and is ranked 17th in the league allowing 4.37 runs per game. The Guardians will start Triston McKenzie tonight who is 7-8 for the season with 3.38 ERA. Cleveland has lost 4 of the last 5 games against teams with a winning record over 60% and the last 4 fourth games of a series.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 70-39 record. The Astros have won 3 of the last 5 games and are 2-1 up in the series against the Guardians. The Astros are 12th scoring 4.53 runs per game and are ranked second in the league allowing 3.35 runs per game. Houston will start Cristian Javier tonight who is 6-7 for the season with a 3.24 ERA. The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game one it was the Phillies who picked up the victory. In game two the Phillies added a win to clinch a share of the series. In game three Philadelphia won again to clinch the series.

The Washington Nationals are having an absolutely miserable season and they have lost yet another game. They will now be looking to avoid being swept in this four game series. They come into the finale of this series with a record of 36-73 through their first 109 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are 33 and a half games out of first place in the National League East division and come into this game on a four game losing streak. 

The Philadelphia Phillies are on a roll at the moment, as they come into this game looking to complete this four game series sweep of the Washington Nationals. Philadelphia comes into this game with a record of 59-48 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently nine and a half games back of first place in the National League East division as they have won nine out of their last ten games on the season.

The Philadelphia Phillies did not waste any time getting their offense going on Saturday and by the time the second inning was over it was already 9-0. That fast start allowed Philly to cruise to their 4th consecutive victory and they will now go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon of their divisional foe.

 I’m not seeing a way that the Nationals keep this one competitive as they carry a 1-5 record in August into this game and still hold the worst record in all of baseball. The home fans in Philadelphia will once again be treated to a great afternoon as their team finishes off this home sweep in blowout fashion.

The Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game one it was the Rays who picked up the victory. In game two the Rays added a win to clinch a share of the series. In game three the Tigers got a win.

The Tampa Bay Rays will be looking to bounce back after their loss in game three to the Detroit Tigers. The Rays still have a solid opportunity to win this series as they come into this game having already won the first two games of this four game weekend series. Tampa Bay is quietly having a quality season but they are being overshadowed by how great the New York Yankees have been. Tampa Bay comes into this game with a record of 57-50 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Detroit Tigers are in the middle of a rough year but they did manage to pick up a huge win on Saturday evening over the Tampa Bay Rays. They got to the all star Shane McClanahan early and knocked him out of the game before he could find his groove. It was a rare, struggling performance for him as well and the Tigers will be looking to use the momentum to get another win on Sunday and earn a split in this four game series. Detroit comes into this game with a record of 43-66 through their first 109 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The short three-game losing streak for the Detroit Tigers was ended emphatically with a 9-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night. It was the first sellout in Detroit since Opening Day and they rewarded their loyal fans with a rare win, just their 5th in the last 16 games. All Star Shane McClanahan was roughed up pretty bad in this loss, by his standards, giving up four runs in seven innings. 

It was the end of a three game winning streak for the Rays who will now just try and get the win on Sunday to secure the series victory. I don’t think it will be so straightforward though as we saw Saturday that the Tigers have what it takes to give them a hard time. The Rays are overvalued in this one to me, as they gave only won four of the past 13 road games and I think the best play here is to back the underdog to keep this one competitive.

The Detroit Tigers are at the bottom of the AL Central with a 43-66 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 9-1 win over the Rays. The Tigers are at the bottom of the league scoring 3.35 runs per game and are ranked 21th in the league allowing 4.52 runs per game. Matt Manning will start tonight for the Tigers who is 0-0 for the season with a 3.46 ERA. Detroit has lost 35 of the last 52 games against teams with a winning record and 49 of the last 72 games played on Sunday.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Minnesota Twins – 2:10PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins will be playing the fourth and final game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game number one the Toronto Blue Jays got the win. In game two Minnesota responded with a much needed victory. In game three the Twins got another win.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to bounce back and find a way to get a four game series split in their series finale with the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon. They come into this game with a record of 59-48 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in second place of the American League East division as they trail the New York Yankees by ten and a half games at the moment. They have lost five out of their last ten on the season and their last two games in a row. 

The Minnesota Twins picked up another huge win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday evening. They improved their record on the season to 57-50 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are still two games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the American League Central division. They have won five out of their last ten games on the season and are currently on a two game winning streak.

The bullpen for the Minnesota Twins was in terrific form in their 7-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. It was important to get this win as the second place Cleveland Guardians also won, so the Twins kept their two game division lead intact. The one bit of good news coming out of the loss for Toronto is that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was able to extend his career-high hitting streak out to 17 games, going 2-5. They also still hold the top wild card spot in the American League, three games ahead of the first team out (Baltimore Orioles). 

Kevin Gausman takes the mound for the Jays and is coming off an impressive outing where he only allowed one hit in 8 innings. The opposing pitcher will be Chris Archer (2-5) who has failed to go five innings in any of his last four outings. Gausman gives Toronto a huge advantage on the mound and it’s hard to keep this potent lineup down for two games in a row so I’m expecting fireworks from the Jays in this one, as they get a nice bounce back win.

They had two chances to pick up a victory on Saturday in a doubleheader and they lost both. They didn’t even lose in competitive games, they lost by a combined score 14-7 on the evening. The Braves come into the final game of this series looking to avoid another setback and falling even further behind in the National League East division. They come into this game with a record of 64-45 through their first 109 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The New York Mets are flying high heading into Sunday afternoon as they come into this game looking to finish off a five game series with four wins against the Atlanta Braves. The Mets come into this game with a record of 69-39 through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won eight out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game on a two game winning streak. They have increased their division lead to five and a half games.

The New York Mets got a huge sweep in their doubleheader on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves who were trying to make a run at them for the division lead. Francisco Lindor was the start of the day game, getting three hits in the 8-5 victory and then it was Max Scherzer shutting things down at night, striking out 11 in the 6-2 win. The NL East lead now ballooned up to 5.5 games and it can grow even larger with another win in the series finale on Sunday. Jacob deGrom will be making just his second start of the season as he is coming off an injury but we know anything near his top form will be more than enough to put his guys in a position to win.

Spencer Strider will be pitching for Atlanta and is coming off a couple good outings himself, going 2-0 and only allowing two combined runs in his last two starts. I don’t think offense will be easy to come by in this one against these pitchers so give me the under in this divisional slugfest.
