Houston Astros @ Toronto Blue Jays – 3:07PM ET

The Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays will be playing the second game of their three game weekend series in this one. In the first game on Friday night, it was the Astros who came away with the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here on Saturday.

Tony Battalio

The Houston Astros got a huge win on Friday night to take the lead in this series and even up the season series between these two teams. These six early games in April could potentially end up being a preview of this season’s American League Championship Series. As both of these franchises are favored to be at the top of the American League when the regular season ends. Houston now comes into this middle game on Saturday with a record of 11-9 through their first 20 games of the season.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to avoid losing the series with a win on Saturday to tie it at one. They will send Jose Berrios to the mound to look to get the job done. As their usually high-powered offense looked great on Friday night as they managed to put seven runs across the board. The issue in this one was the pitching as Houston jumped on them out of the gate with four runs in the first three innings. As for the result of this middle game, I’m taking the Blue Jays to get the victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-136)

Jeffery Thomas

The Houston Astros went into Toronto and stole an 11-7 win over the Blue Jays on Friday in the opener of a three-game series. It was the Astros’ 4th straight win and they relied on the long ball to get the job done, hitting three homers in the game. The Blue Jays have now lost two of their last three and are now in second place in the AL East, one game behind the New York Yankees.

The Blue Jays will turn to Jose Berrios on Saturday to try and even up the series with Houston. The lineup usually bats well behind Berrios and he is getting better and better with every start. The Jays have not lost back-to-back games all year and they will keep that trend going with a win on Saturday.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-136)

Marko Nadin

The Toronto Blue Jays are second in the AL East with a 13-8 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games but lost last night against the Astros by 11-7. The Blue Jays are 15th in the league scoring 4.04 runs per game and the best team when it comes to home runs with 1.39 per game. They will start Jose Brrioes who is 1-0 for the season with a 4.51 ERA. The Blue Jays have 13 of the last 16 games as favorites and 21 of the last 26 games played on Saturday.

The Houston Astros are second in the AL West with an 11-9 record. They have won the last 4 games, closing the series against the Texas Rangers with three wins and opening the one in Toronto with a W. The Astros are also a good team when it comes to home runs as they are ranked fifth in the league with 1.12 per game. They are also ranked 13th in the league allowing 3.96 runs per game. Luis Garcia will start tonight for Houston who is 1-0 for the season with a 4.60 ERA. Houston has won 5 of the last 7 games against AL East opponents but has lost 14 of the last 20 games as underdogs.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-136)

Los Angeles Angels @ Chicago White Sox – 4:05PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox will be playing the second game of their four game weekend series in this one. In the first game on Friday night it was the Angels who came away with the win. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series here on Saturday.

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Angels picked up a win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday to further add to the White Sox struggles as of late. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share in this four game weekend series with a second win on Saturday afternoon. Los Angeles is hot at the moment as they are coming off of a sweep of the Cleveland Guardians and are looking to add more wins against another American League Central team. They enter this game with a record of 14-7.

The Chicago White Sox have quickly gone from American League Central division favorites and American League pennant hopefuls down to one of the worst teams in baseball. Throughout the first month of the season it has been a bumpy ride for a team that many thought would have a cakewalk in their less than impressive division. Chicago is now coming into this middle game with the Angels with a record of 7-12 on the season. As for the result of this game I’m going with the Angels to get another win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels (-104)

Jeffery Thomas

The Los Angeles Angels were able to continue their hot start to the new year by taking the series opener against the White Sox on Friday 5-1. The win was their sixth straight and pushed their division lead out to 2.5 games over the Seattle Mariners in the early going. The White Sox are having a rough go of it this season after such a successful year and trip to the postseason in 2021. So far they are just 7-12 and just can’t seem to capture that same magic this season. Their offense has only surpassed 3 runs twice in the last 14 games.

The White Sox are throwing out Vince Velasquez on Saturday and that is a recipe for disaster against this red-hot Angels team. Velasquez is 0-2 on the year with a 6.75 ERA and he hasn’t been able to make it out of the 5th inning of any outing this year. The Angels will jump all over him early and ride that lead out to another win on the road in Chicago in game 2 of the series.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels (-104)

Marko Nadin

The Chicago White Sox are fourth in the AL Central with a 7-12 record. They have lost 10 of the last 11 games and are currently on a two-game losing streak as they failed in the last game against Kansas City and last night 5-1 to the Angels. The White Sox are 24th in the league scoring 3.36 runs per game and 25th allowing 4.67 runs per game. The White Sox will start Vince Velasquez tonight who is 0-2 for the season with a 6.75 ERA. Chicago has lost 7of the last 9 second games of a series.

The Los Angeles Angels are on top of the AL West with a 14-7 record. They have won the last six games, sweeping the Cleveland Guardians in 4 games and opening the series against the White Sox with a win. Jose Suarez will start tonight for the Angels who is 0-1 for the season with a 5.54 ERA. The Angels have won the last 5 games on grass, 5 of the last 6 road games and 19 of the last 26 games against teams from the AL Central.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels (-104)

Seattle Mariners @ Miami Marlins – 6:10PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and Miami Marlins will be playing the second game of their three game weekend series in this one. In the first game on Friday night it was the Marlins who came away with the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here on Saturday.

Tony Battalio

The Seattle Mariners will now be looking to bounce back in game number two of this series after being knocked off by the Miami Marlins in game number one. Seattle comes into this one with a record of 11-9 through their first 20 games of the season. It is going to be an interesting season for the Mariners as they are a young team with a ton of potential and I could easily see them snapping their long playoff drought in this one. Taking the mound for them in game two will be Robbie Ray who is 2-1 on the year with a 3.91 Earned Run Average.

The Miami Marlins picked up a huge win over the Mariners in game one of this weekend series as they now have a chance to clinch a series win on Saturday. They haven’t had a bad start to the season as they come into this game over the .500 mark with a record of 11-8 through their first 19 games. Which is above what many people would’ve predicted them to be before the year started. As for the result of this second game however, I am going with the Seattle Mariners to get the win and even the series up at 1-1 heading into Sunday’s finale.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Seattle Mariners (-106)

Jeffery Thomas

On Saturday the Miami Marlins will once again play host to the Seattle Mariners in game 2 of their three-game weekend series. In game 1 the Marlins came away with the 8-6 victory, which extended their winning streak out to six games. Jorge Soler hit a homerun in the first inning that measured 468 feet, good for the third longest of the season so far. Now sitting at 11-8, Miami is still 2nd in the NL East behind the Mets who have the best record in all of baseball. The loss took the Mariners down to 11-9 on the year and they are also in second place in their division, the AL West.

With Jesus Luzardo taking the mound for the Marlins on Saturday, I’m going right back to the home team. Their pitching has been solid lately, which has spearheaded this winning streak. Seattle had a good start to the year but is coming back down to Earth a bit, now losing three straight games. Give me the Marlins here to stay hot.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Miami Marlins (-110)

Marko Nadin

The Miami Marlins are second in the NL East with a 11-8 record. They have won the last 6 games, 2 to close the series against the defending champions Atlanta Braves, 3 to sweep the series against the Washington Nationals and a 8-6 win last night against Seattle. The Marlins are seventh in the league allowing 3.57 runs per game and 18th scoring 3.91 runs per game. Miami will start Jesus Luzardo who is 1-1 for the season with a 3.77 ERA. The Marlins have won 5 of the last 6 games against AL West teams.

The Seattle Mariners are second in the AL West with a 11-9 record. They have lost the last three games after winning the previous four. The Mariners are seventh in the league scoring 4.71 runs per game and eighth hitting 1.08 home runs per game. Robbie Ray will start tonight for Seattle who is 2-1 for the season with a 3.91 ERA. Seattle has won 6 of the last 7 games on grass and 8 of the last 11 games against left-handed starter.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Seattle Mariners (-106)

San Diego Padres @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 6:35PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing the second game of their three game weekend series in this one. In the first game on Friday night it was the Padres who came away with the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here on Saturday.

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres are probably wishing they played in the Midwest every single game right now. As they are having a fantastic road trip thus far. Earlier this weekend they swept the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field and on Friday they opened up their series with a win at PNC Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now San Diego comes into this second game of the series with the opportunity to clinch a series win over the Pirates with a win on Saturday and set up the opportunity for a sweep on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will now be looking to bounce back after being defeated on Friday. They are having a somewhat disappointing start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As unsurprisingly they are coming into this one with a record of 8-12 as they are four games below .500 through their first 20 of the year. After the loss on Friday their losing streak now sits at 4 games and the only thing keeping them out of last in their division is an abysmal Cincinnati Reds team. As for the result in this one I’m going with the Padres to clinch the series.

Tony’s MLB Pick: San Diego Padres (-172)

Jeffery Thomas

The San Diego Padres are loving this world tour of the NL Central ballparks that they are currently on. They just came off a sweep of the Cincinnati Reds and then started a series with the Pirates on Friday and got a 7-3 win to extend their winning streak and make it nine wins in their last eleven games. Pirates’ pitcher Zach Thompson had his struggles continue and he is now 0-3 on the season with an ERA over 10. He gave up four runs in 3 ⅓ innings in the loss and Pittsburgh’s record fell to 8-12.

Sean Manaea had a great start to the season, pitching 7 innings of no-hit ball but hasn’t really seen much success in the three starts since. A meeting with this weak Pirates lineup is exactly what he needs to get his confidence back and I think we’ll see him back on top form. The Padres will ride that stellar pitching performance to yet another multi-run win.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: San Diego Padres -1.5 (-172)

Marko Nadin

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 8-12 record. They have lost the last four games, getting swept by 3-0 against the Milwaukee Brewers and losing the first one against the Padres. The Pirates are 21st in the league scoring 3.71 runs per game and 29th allowing 5.62 runs per game. Pittsburgh will start JT Brubaker who is 0-2 for the season with a 6.46 ERA. The Pirates have won 6 of the last 8 second games of a series but have lost 14 of the last 19 games against NL West opponents.

The San Diego Padres are on top of the NL West with a 14-7 record. They have won the last four games, sweeping the Cincinnati Reds in three games and opening the series against the Pirates with a 7-3 win. The Padres are 8th in the league scoring 4.60 runs per game and 12th allowing 3.89 runs per game. They will start Sean Manaea who is 2-2 for the season with a 3.67 ERA. The Padres have won the last 6 games against teams with a losing record.

Marko’s MLB Pick: San Diego Padres (-172)

Detroit Tigers @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing the second game of their three game weekend series in this one. In the first game on Friday night it was the Dodgers who came away with the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here on Saturday.

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Tigers are now on a six game losing streak after their loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. They are in last place in perhaps the worst division in baseball, the American League Central, as they now come into this game with a record of 6-13 through their first 19 games of the season. They are 2-8 over their last ten games and there seems to be no end in sight at the moment as they will likely continue to lose.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are having a decent start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They will likely be unaffected by the loss of their starting pitcher Trevor Bauer as he was handed a two year suspension earlier in the day on Friday by the commissioner of Major League Baseball, Rob Manfred. The Dodgers come into this one with a record of 13-6 through their first 19 games of the season. As for the result of this one I am going with the Dodgers to grab the win in game two and lock up the series and set up the shot at a sweep on Sunday.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (-350)

Jeffery Thomas

The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers will continue their series on Saturday in LA. It was the Dodgers who came away with the victory in the series opener by the score of 5-1. Justin Turner got the scoring started in the first inning with a 2-run homerun and the Dodgers never looked back. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and gave the Tigers their 6th consecutive loss.

Clayton Kershaw will put his perfect 3-0 record on the line in his start Saturday and I don’t expect him to face much trouble in getting that to 4-0. The Tigers are averaging just 1.6 runs a game during this losing streak and against one of the best pitchers in the game and best offenses, this game should not be close.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-160)

Marko Nadin

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on top of the NL West with a 13-6 record. They won last night 5-1 against Detroit which put an end to their two-game losing streak from the previous series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers are the best scoring team in the league with 5.11 runs per game and are ranked second in the league with 2.61 allowed runs per game. Clayton Kershaw will start for the Dodgers tonight who is 3-0 for the season with a 2.65 ERA.

The Detroit Tigers are at the bottom of the AL Central with a 6-13 record. They have lost the last six games and went to LA after being swept by the Minnesota Twins in three games. Detroit is 26th in the league scoring 3.30 runs per game and 19th allowing 4.26 runs per game. The Tigers will start Beau Briseke who is 0-1 for the season with a 5.40 ERA. Detroit has won 4 of the last 6 games as an interleague underdog but have lost 4 od the last 5 Saturday games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (-350)
