Arizona Diamondbacks @ New York Yankees – 1:05PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks come into the final week of the season with their entire year on the line over the next seven days. They are dead in the middle of the National League wildcard race, and they will have to have a successful ending to the regular season if they want to clinch themselves a playoff spot. It starts with grabbing a crucial victory over the New York Yankees here on Monday night in the finale of this three game weekend series that was originally supposed to take place on Saturday. Arizona comes into this game with a record of 82-73 through their first 155 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season, and they currently find themselves holding onto a slim lead for the second place spot in the National League wildcard race.
It has been a disaster of a season for the New York Yankees after they had such high hopes coming into the year. Injuries threw the trajectory of their season off course and they were never able to recover and they will be missing the postseason for the first time in a while, but they do have an opportunity to spoil the playoff hopes of the Arizona Diamondbacks or at least delay their clinching party, if they can grab a victory here on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately for the New York Yankees with Merrill Kelly getting the start for Arizona in this one I don’t see that happening as I look for the Diamondbacks to take home the victory to wrap up this series.
SportsTips’ MLB Pick:
Arizona Diamondbacks (-120)
Texas Rangers @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:38PM ET
The Texas Rangers will be looking to pick up a crucial victory in the opening game of the series against the Los Angeles Angels on the road on Monday night in Los Angeles. Texas is right in the middle of both a division title race in a wildcard spot race as well coming into the final week of the regular season and they will have to be successful coming down the stretch if they want to find themselves in the postseason this year. They had a fantastic start to the season, but the train started to come off of the tracks over the last month and a half and now they will be looking to avoid a total disaster by clinching themselves a playoff spot and building up momentum before heading into the postseason.
The Los Angeles Angels don’t have anything left to play for this season after another disappointing year with such high expectations coming into the season. With possibly the two best players in all of Major League Baseball on their roster, they have once again failed to make the postseason, and it seems very likely that Shohei Ohtani will leave the franchise over the offseason during free agency. However, the Los Angeles Angels still have the opportunity to spoil the Texas Rangers playoff hopes by grabbing a victory here on Monday night, and having a successful series throughout the week. Unfortunately for the Los Angeles Angels, I don’t see that happening as I look for the Texas Rangers to pick up the victory here on Monday night.
SportsTips’ MLB Pick:
Texas Rangers (-185)
Houston Astros @ Seattle Mariners – 9:40PM ET
The defending World Series champions, will be looking to pick up a crucial victory in the opening game of the series on the road against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night in the Pacific Northwest. With a successful finish over the last week of the regular season they could wrap up the American League West division title, and picking up victories over the Seattle Mariners will be crucial in doing so as the Astros look to gear up to defend their World Series championship. They will have a very solid shot at winning this game as they send their best starting pitcher on the mound in this one in the form of Justin Verlander. The lineup will have to find a way to hit off Luis Castillo on the opposite end of the box score if Houston wants to grab a victory in this game.
The Seattle Mariners still have an opportunity to clinch themselves, their second consecutive playoff spot, and potentially even a division title, with some quality performances throughout the next seven days. They will have to play perfect baseball down the stretch, and that starts with picking up a victory in the opening game of the series against the Houston Astros on Monday night at home. Luis Castillo will be making the start for them here in this one and he has been their best starting pitcher this season and he will have to deliver his best start of the season if Seattle wants to grab the victory in this one. Luckily for the Seattle Mariners, that is exactly what I expect as I look for them to pick up the victory at home over the Houston Astros here on Monday night to open up the series.
SportsTips’ MLB Pick:
Seattle Mariners (-120)
San Diego Padres @ San Francisco Giants – 9:45PM ET
The San Diego padres had plenty of expectations coming into the season, but they were unable to live up to those expectations throughout the year. Now there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the franchise, going into the off-season, and it will be interesting to see how the team responds throughout the off-season and heading into next season after they went all in at the trade deadline last year to win the World Series. San Diego still has the opportunity of spoiling the San Francisco Giants playoff hopes this season, and they will be looking to do so with a crucial victory here on Monday night in the opening game of the series on the road in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Giants will have to be perfect coming down the final stretch of the season if they want to clinch themselves a playoff spot and a top three spot in the National League wildcard race as well. They have been consistent all season long, but they have been stumbling as of late and it could end up costing them a spot in the postseason and it could cost them a chance to win the World Series this year as well. They will have to pick up a victory in this game and dominate the series against the San Diego Padres throughout the week if they want to clinch themselves a spot in the National League wildcard top three. Luckily for the San Francisco Giants, I look for them to pick up the victory in this game on Monday night.
SportsTips’ MLB Pick:
SF Giants (-105)
