Arizona Diamondbacks @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. The Diamondbacks are coming off of a series with the Atlanta Braves while the Pirates just finished playing and sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Pirates got a huge sweep over the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout the week. Now they will face another National League team when they play the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend. They will be looking to add another series win and get themselves closer to the .500 mark. They come into this game with a record of 22-27 through their first 49 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Pirates are currently on a three game win streak and 6-4 in their last ten games of the season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks come into this game with a record of 25-27 through their first 52 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place of the National League West division as they are on a one game losing streak. They have won only four out of their last ten games on the season and then will be desperate for a victory in this one. As for the result of this game however, I don’t see that happening as I’m going with the Pirates to get the victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (-116)

Jeffery Thomas

The Pittsburgh Pirates move on to another series against a NL West opponent as they start up a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. The Pirates are coming off an improbable sweep over the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road and now return home full of confidence.

The Diamondbacks also recently played a series against the Dodgers and it went the complete opposite direction, as they were swept out in four games. They are starting up a 10-game road trip against teams under .500 so this could be a critical stretch to get them back in the Wild Card race. I like Arizona to get things started in the win column against Pittsburgh’s starter J.T. Brubaker who is still winless on the year at 0-4 with a 4.15 ERA.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks (-102)

Marko Nadin

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 22-27 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-0 series sweep against the Los Angeles Rangers on the road. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.63 runs per game and 26th allowing 5.24 runs per game. They will start JT Brubaker tonight who is 0-4 for the season with a 4.15 ERA. The Pirates have won the last 5 games against a right-handed starting pitcher and 4 of the last 5 home games against teams with a losing record.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West with a 25-27 record. They have lost 4 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Atlanta Braves. The Diamondbacks are 10th in the league hitting 1.15 home runs per game and are 24th with 3.96 scored runs per game. Arizona will start Merrill Kelly tonight who is 3-3 for the season with a 3.67 ERA. Arizona has won 5 of the last 6 road games against teams with a losing record and has lost 38 of the last 56 opening games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks (-102)

Los Angeles Angels @ Philadelphia Phillies – 7:05PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. The Angels are coming off of a series with the New York Yankees while the Phillies just finished playing the San Francisco Giants.

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Angels are coming into this game with a record of after getting swept by the New York Yankees in a doubleheader on Thursday. It was their seventh and eighth straight loss and they are incredibly desperate for a victory at the moment. They come into this game with a record of 27-25 through their first 52 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season and are 2-8 in their last ten games on the year.

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming into this game after a day of rest on Thursday. The Phillies are coming into this game with a record of 22-29 through their first 51 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a one game winning streak but they have only won three out of their last ten games. As for the result of this game I am going with the Los Angeles Angels to pick up the victory and finally break their lengthy losing streak.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels

Jeffery Thomas

The Philadelphia Phillies got Thursday off and are hoping that June treats them much better than the month of May did. They had three separate losing streaks of 3 or more in May and saw their record fall to 22-29 which is 12.5 games back of the first place New York Mets.

The Los Angeles Angels lost their 7th and 8th straight games in a doubleheader on Thursday to the Yankees and will stay on the road for this series in Philly. Both teams are playing horribly right now and are sending out pedestrian pitchers for this series opener so I’m loving the over. I see a lot of runs being scored and I’m more confident in that than picking a side with these two struggling teams.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Over Runs

Marko Nadin

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 22-29 record. They are coming off a 6-5 win over the San Francisco Giants which put an end to their five-game losing streak. The Phillies are 11th in the league scoring 4.57 runs per game and 9th hitting 1.14 home runs per game. Zach Eflin will be the Phillies’ starter tonight who is 1-4 for the season with a 4.60 ERA. Philadelphia has lost 6 of the last 9 home games and has lost 4 of the last 5 opening games of a series.

The Los Angeles Angels are second in the AL West with a 27-25 record. They have lost the last 8 games and their last win was on May 24th against the Texas Rangers. The Angels are third in the league hitting 1.33 home runs per game, 10th with 4.66 scored runs per game and 13th in the league allowing 4.11 runs per game. The Angels will start Chase Silseth tonight who is 1-1 for the season with a 3.07 ERA. The Angels have lost the last 6 road games and 4 of the last 5 opening games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels

Minnesota Twins @ Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07PM ET

The Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays are playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. Both of these teams are having great seasons so far this season. As they are both in a position to make the playoffs this season.

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins are currently in first place of the American League Central division as they have gotten off to a blazing start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game with a record of 30-23 through their first 53 games of the year. They currently have a 4.5 game lead over the Cleveland Guardians as the Twins are in a bit of a slump at the moment. They have lost their last three games in a row and are 3-7 in their last ten on the season.

The Toronto Blue Jays are also having a fast start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season as they come into this game with a record of 30-20 through their first 50 games of the season. They are currently in second place in the American League East division. As they trail the New York Yankees by five and a half games. They are currently on a eight game winning streak and are eight and two in their last ten games of the season. As for the result of this game I am going with the Blue Jays to get another victory over the Minnesota Twins

Tony’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-220)

Jeffery Thomas

The Toronto Blue Jays continued their hot streak on Friday, closing out their series with the Chicago White Sox with an 8-3 victory. That win gave the Jays their second series sweep in a row as they have now won 8 consecutive games. This recent stretch has them now up to second place in the AL East as they continue to chase the Yankees.

Their next opponent will be the Minnesota Twins who are coming off a five-game series with the Detroit Tigers where they lost four of five. Two teams heading in different directions in this one and I’m going to have to continue riding the hot Blue Jays who are just in a groove at the moment and will have the advantage of being at home.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (-108)

Marko Nadin

The Toronto Blue Jays are second in the AL East with a 30-20 record. They have won the last 8 games and are coming off sweeping the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Angels. The Blue Jays are 19th in the league scoring 4.19 runs per game and are ranked 11th with 4.01 allowed runs per game. Toronto will start Yusei Kikuchi tonight who is 2-1 for the season with a 3.48 ERA. The Blue Jays have won 4 of the last 5 games against AL Central teams.

The Minnesota Twins are on top of AL Central with a 30-23 record. They have lost 7 of the last 12 games and are coming off a 4-1 series loss to the Detroit Tigers failing to score a single run in two of those five games. The Twins are 17th in the league scoring 4.31 runs per game and are ranked 5th allowing 3.77 runs per game. Minnesota will start Chi Chi Gonzalez who wil, make his season debut tonight. The Twins have won 4 of the last 6 opening games of a series and 8 of the last 10 games against left-handed starting pitcher.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (+184)

Chicago White Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10PM ET

The Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. One of these teams is having great seasons so far this season. As the Rays are in a position to make the playoffs this season. While the White Sox have been a disappointment.

Tony Battalio

The Chicago White Sox have been pretty disappointing this season. They have performed well below the expectations that were set for them before the 2022 Major League Baseball season began. They come into this game with a record of 23-26 through their first 49 games of the year. They are currently in second place of the American League Central division at the moment as they trail the Minnesota Twins by 4.5 games at the moment. They are on a three game losing streak and they are 4-6 in their last ten games.

The Tampa Bay Rays are having a great start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game with a record of 30-21 through their first 51 games of the season. They are in third place of the American League East division as they find themselves six games back of the New York Yankees. As for the result of this matchup I am going with the Tampa Bay Rays to pick up the victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays (-210)

Jeffery Thomas

The Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays were both in action on Thursday with the teams getting different results. It was a 3-1 win for the Rays on the road against the Texas Rangers in the series finale as they won the final two games to get the split. The White Sox were also on the road, but suffered an 8-3 defeat at the hands of the red hot Toronto Blue Jays.

The White Sox were swept out in that series and now will just try and look forward to this one against another tough AL East opponent.

The unfortunate news is Vince Velasquez is taking the mound for Chicago and it’s been a struggle for him all season. He’s given up 11 runs in his last 13 innings of work while Rays starter Shane McClanahan is 3-0 in his last three starts giving up just two runs. The pitching monarch is too great in this game so give me Tampa.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (+106)

Marko Nadin

The Tampa Bay Rays are third in the AL East with a 30-21 record. They have won 4 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Texas Rangers. The Rays are 22nd in the league scoring 4.12 runs per game and are ranked 9th in the league allowing 3.92 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Shane McClanahan tonight who is 5-2 for the season with 2.01 ERA. The Rays have won 55 of the last 79 games against teams with a losing record and 63 of the last 92 home games.

The Chicago White Sox are third in the AL Central with a 23-26 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a three straight losses against the Toronto Blue Jays. The White Sox are 27th in the league scoring 3.66 runs per game and 25th in the league allowing 4.79 runs per game. Vince Velasquez will be the White Sox’ starting pitcher tonight who is 2-3 for the season with a 5.30 ERA. The White Sox have won 5 of the last 7 games when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays (-210)

Boston Red Sox @ Oakland Athletics – 9:40PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics are playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. They have been a little disappointing this season as they could both use the momentum they would gain from a series victory.

Tony Battalio

The Boston Red Sox are coming into this game with a record of 24-27 through their first 51 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place of the American League East division as they are 12 games behind the New York Yankees. They are on a one game winning streak at the moment as they are 5-5 in their last ten games of the season.

The Oakland Athletics are coming into this game in a bit of a slump as well. They currently have a record of 20-33 through their first 53 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are 14 games back of the division leading Houston Astros. They have won only three of their last ten games on the season and they are currently on a three game losing streak. As for the result of this game I am going with the Boston Red Sox to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox (-158)

Jeffery Thomas

The Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics meet up at an interesting time as the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors are meeting in the NBA Finals at the same time. This meaningless regular season baseball series will definitely take a back seat but the Red Sox will see this a prime opportunity to get some wins against a slumping Oakland team.

Nathan Eovaldi will be taking the mound and is coming off a complete game win over the Baltimore Orioles, only allowing two runs. Him staying in that form will allow Boston to get this win and move their record in June to 2-0.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox (-158)

Marko Nadin

The Oakland Athletics are at the bottom of the AL West with a 20-33 record. They have lost 6 of the last 7 games and are coming off three straight losses to the Houston Astros. The Athletics are second to last in the league scoring 3.44 runs per game and are 17th in the league allowing 4.35 runs per game. Oakland will start James Kaprielian tonight who is 0-2 for the season with a 5.93 ERA. The Athletics have lost 19 of the last 28 games when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game and 20 of the last 28 games as underdogs.

The Boston Red Sox are fourth in the AL East with a 24-27 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a series split against the Cincinnati Reds. The Red Sox are 6th in the league scoring 4.78 runs per game and are ranked 16th in the league allowing 4.35 runs per game. Boston will start Nathan Eovaldi tonight who is 2-2 for the season with a 3.77 ERA. The Red Sox have won the last 4 games following a day off and 5 of the last 7 opening games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox (-158)
