Boston Red Sox @ Chicago Cubs – 2:20PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs will be playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. These two clubs will meet this year for the first and only time. They both come into this series looking to grab a win and some momentum.

Tony Battalio

The Boston Red Sox are on fire as of late as they are coming into this game having won eight of their last ten games of the year. They come into this game with a record of 43-33 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They will be looking to their momentum rolling in this three game set against the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. They are currently in third place in the American League East division at the moment as they are more than likely looking at a wild card spot in the American League this season.

The Chicago Cubs are in the middle of a rough season at the moment as they come into this game with one of the worst records in Major League Baseball so far this season. They currently have a record of 30-46 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place in the National League Central division. They have won five out of their last ten games of the year. They have lost 26 of their first 41 games at home this season.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox got Thursday off to travel back to the US and get to Chicago for their weekend series with the Cubs. Boston recently had their seven game winning streak snapped but are still in pretty good form at the moment and are one of the teams to watch as we head towards the All-Star break. A lot of the struggles the Red Sox had in their Toronto series were due to unavailable players due to being unvaccinated and not being able to enter Canada, including their closer Tanner Houck.

That won’t be an issue now and they’ll have a rest advantage over the Cubs who were in action against the Reds on Thursday night. A Red Sox team at full strength should have no issues with these Cubs and I’m rolling with them to start this series off with a win on Friday, led by the arm of Rich Hill.

The Chicago Cubs are fourth in the NL Central with a 30-46 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs are 19th in the league scoring 4.32 runs per game and are ranked 26th allowing 5.32 runs per game. The Cubs will start Adrian Samson tonight who is 0-0 for the season with a 1.69 ERA. The Cubs have lost 7 of the last 11 home games and 4 of the last 6 opening games of a series.

The Boston Red Sox are second in the AL East with a 43-33 record. They have won 8 of the last 10 games but are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox are 7th in the league scoring 4.82 runs per game and are ranked 8th in the league allowing 4.03 runs per game. Boston will start Rich Hill who is 4-4 for the season with a 4.09 ERA. The Red Sox have won 7 of the last 8 opening games of a series and 12 of the last 16 road games.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Toronto Blue Jays – 3:07PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays will be playing the second game of their five game weekend series in this one. In game one it was the Jays who picked up the win. Now they will be looking to take a two games to zero advantage in this one.

Tony Battalio

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming into this game after picking the first win in this series. They are coming into this game looking to further secure the series lead here in game two on Friday afternoon. They currently have a record of 43-33 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten games on the year and currently find themselves on a one game winning streak as well. They have moved into second place in the American League East division.

The Tampa Bay Rays are coming into this game looking to bounce back after their loss in the first game of this series. They currently have a record of 40-35 through their first 75 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won only four out of their last ten games of the year and are currently on a three game losing streak at the moment. The Rays have been struggling as of late and they will need to fix it soon if they want to stay alive in the American League division title race.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays (-135)

Jeffery Thomas

The series opener between the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays did not go well for the road team. The Rays once again did not have much going on offense and only could muster up a single run in the 4-1 loss. They have now lost three straight games and are scoring an average of just 2.3 runs a game in that span.

That was the third win in four games for the Blue Jays who now enter July tied with the Red Sox for second place in the division. Tampa should be able to get some offense going in the game on Friday against Jose Berrios who has been struggling mightily. He has given up 14 runs in his last two outings which were both losses, and he’s not a guy I’m looking to back at the moment. I like the value with the Rays in this spot to get a much-needed win.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Tampa Bay Rays (+110)

The Toronto Blue Jays are third in the AL East with a 43-33 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-1 win in the series opener against the Rays. The Blue Jays are 8th in the league scoring 4.81 runs per game and are ranked 18th with 4.39 allowed runs per game. Toronto will start Jose Berrios tonight who is 5-4 for the season with a 5.86 ERA. The Blue Jays have won 41 of the last 61 second games of a series and 4 of the last 7 home games.

The Tampa Bay Rays are fourth in the AL East with a 40-35 record. They have lost 5 of the last 9 games including the last three. The Rays are 26th in the league scoring 4.02 runs per game and are ranked 5th in the league allowing 3.86 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Corey Kluber tonight who is 3-4 for the season with 3.45 ERA. The Rays won 27 of the last 39 second games in a series and has lost 5 of the last 6 games against teams with a winning record.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays (-135)

St.Louis Cardinals @ Philadelphia Phillies – 6:05PM ET

The St.Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. This is the first of two times these two clubs will meet this year. They will play a four game series next weekend in St.Louis as well.

Tony Battalio

The St.Louis Cardinals are having a solid season so far this year as they come into this game with a record of 43-35 through their first 78 games of the Major League Baseball season. They are currently in second place in the National League Central division as they are one game behind the Brewers for first place. They have won five out of their ten games of the year. However, they currently find themselves on a one game losing streak.

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming into this game with a record of 40-37 through their first 77 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place of the National League East division at the moment as they trail the New York Mets by seven and a half games heading into July 1st and nearing the midway point of the season. They have won four out of their last ten games and are currently on a one game winning streak at the moment.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

St.Louis Cardinals (-155)

Jeffery Thomas

The St.Louis Cardinals will be in Philadelphia for a weekend series with the Phillies starting up on Friday. The Cards are in a stretch of playing NL East teams right now and it started last series against the Miami Marlins where they took two of three at home. They now sit 1.5 games back of the Brewers in the division and are hoping to have a good weekend in Philly to close that gap.

The Phillies were able to avoid being swept by the Braves by winning the series finale on Thursday, thanks to an offensive explosion where they scored double digit runs. With reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper out indefinitely, those nights will be less frequent but this is still a team with plenty of dangerous hitters as they showed. St.Louis’ starter Miles Mikolas should be able to handle the test though and has only given up five runs total in his last four starts. I expect him to stay hot while leading his guys to victory on the road.

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 40-37 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games but are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies are 5th in the league scoring 4.86 runs per game and 16th in the league allowing 4.34 runs per game. Bailey Falter will be the Phillies’ starter tonight who is 0-2 for the season with a 4.50 ERA. Philadelphia has won 4 of the last 5 games played on Friday and 9 of the last 12 games against teams with a winning record.

The St.Louis Cardinals are second in the NL Central with a 43-35 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Miami Marlins. The Cardinals are 6th in the league scoring 4.85 runs per game and are ranked 6th in the league allowing 3.94 runs per game. They will start Miles Mikolas tonight who is 5-5 for the season with a 2.57 ERA this season. The Cardinals have won 14 of the last 18 games against a left-handed starting pitcher and have lost 12 of the last 16 road games against teams with a winning record.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

St.Louis Cardinals (-155)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing the second game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game one it was the Pirates who got the win. Now they will be looking to secure at least a share of this four game series here in game two.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Pirates got a huge win in game one of this series as they won 8-7 after a three homerun performance from Michael Perez. The Pirates now come into this game with a record of 31-45 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season at the moment. They currently sit in third place of the National League Central division as they sit 12 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers at the moment. They have won four out of their last ten games on the year as they currently find themselves on a two game winning streak.

The Milwaukee Brewers are coming into this game sitting in first place in the National League Central division. They come into this game with a record of 44-34 through their first 78 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won six out of their last ten games on the season. They currently find themselves on a one game losing streak as they will be looking to bounce back in game two. They have been decent on the road this season as they have a record of 25-19 away from home this season.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

Milwaukee Brewers (-200)

Jeffery Thomas

The Pittsburgh Pirates got an epic 8-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday thanks to an unexpected hero. Backup catcher Michael Perez hit three home runs in the game and drove in 5 runners. He entered the game with just 3 homers and 6 RBI on the season so nobody could have seen this type of performance coming from him.

This win ended an eight-game losing streak to the Brewers that the Pirates were on dating back to last season and they now have a chance to get a little winning streak going. That won’t be happening though, with reigning Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes taking the mound on Friday. That gives Milwaukee a huge pitching advantage and the loss from Thursday was pretty embarrassing so expect them to come out fully focused on dispatching their bottom-tier division foe.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (-115)

Marko Nadin

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 31-45 record. They have lost 5 of the last 7 but are coming off back-to-bak 8-7 wins over Washington and Milwaukee. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.82 runs per game and 25th allowing 5.17 runs per game. They will start Roansy Contreras tonight who is 2-1 for the season with a 2.76 ERA. The Pirates have won 4 of the last 5 home games and have lost 55 of the last 78 games against teams with a winning record.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on top of the NL Central with a 44-34 record. Last night’s loss to the Pirates put an end to their four-game winning streak. The Brewers are 13th in the league scoring 4.56 runs per game and are ranked 14th in the league allowing 4.28 runs per game. Corbin Burnes will be the starting pitcher for the Brewers tonight who is 6-4 for this season with a 2.41 ERA. Milwaukee has won 4 of the last 5 road games against teams with a losing record and 4 of the last 5 second games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

Pittsburgh Pirates (+165)

Texas Rangers @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

The Texas Rangers and New York Mets will be playing game one of their three game weekend series in this one. Both of these teams were predicted to have decent seasons but only the Mets have had success this season.

Tony Battalio

The Texas Rangers are coming into this game with a record of 36-38 through their first 74 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They play in a weak American League West division which is why they are in second place in the division at the moment as they find themselves eleven and a half games behind the Houston Astros at the moment. They have won five out of their last ten games of the year and currently find themselves on a one game losing streak.

The New York Mets are coming into this game with a record of 47-29 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in first place in the National League East division at the moment. They are currently on a three game losing streak at the moment and have won four out of their last ten games of the year. They have won 66% of their home games so far this season as they have a record of 24-12 on the year.

Tony’s MLB Pick:

New York Mets (-185)

Jeffery Thomas

The New York Mets will host the Texas Rangers for this interleague series and are hoping this is the opponent that will allow their bats to finally wake back up. The Mets are on a season-high three game losing streak where they have been outscored 14-3. Last game out, they only produced two hits and were shut out in a 2-0 loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

The Rangers come in off a series win over the Kansas City Royals where they took two of three and are feeling pretty good and confident at the moment. The Rangers won’t present the same pitching dominance that the Mets saw against the Astros though and I’m expecting a bounce back from this very talented lineup at home. Expect them to come out swinging early and get a few runs on the board and never look back in route to a blowout victory in the series opener.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick:

New York Mets -1.5 (+110)

Marko Nadin

The New York Mets are on top of the NL East with a 47-29 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 0-2 series loss to the Houston Astros. The Mets are 4th in the league scoring 4.89 runs per game and are ranked 10th in the league allowing 4.13 runs per game. Chris Bassitt will start for the Mets tonight who is 6-5 for the season with a 4.01 ERA. The Mets have won 9 of the last 11 games played on Friday and 21 of the last 26 games when their opponent allowed 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Texas Rangers are second in the AL West with a 36-38 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Kansas City Royals. The Rangers are 17th in the league scoring 4.44 runs per game and are ranked 13th in the league allowing 4.26 runs per game. The Rangers will start Glenn Otto who is 4-3 for the season with a 5.31 ERA. Texas has won the last four interleague games on the road and 22 of the last 30 games against NL East teams.

Marko’s MLB Pick:

New York Mets (-185)
