Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees – 7:05PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will be playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. They have met two times this season and the Yankees currently lead the series. Coming into this series the Yankees hold a four games to three advantage.

The Boston Red Sox are slumping right now after being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays in a four game series. They come into the third series of the season against the New York Yankees looking to regain some momentum against their main rivals. The Red Sox are coming into this game with a record of 47-43 through their first 90 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Red Sox have lost eight out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on a four game losing streak. 

The New York Yankees are the hottest team in Major League Baseball at the moment. They come into this series with a record of 62-27 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in a bit of a slump at the moment as they have lost six out of their last ten on the season as they come into this series on a one game losing streak. I have them winning game one of this series.

The Boston Red Sox will be coming into this series against the Yankees off of a tough four-game sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays. Thursday’s game was right in their lap before they squandered a 3-run lead late and ended up falling short 5-4. Seems to be the story of their season so far but they still have a lot to play for and are right in the thick of the wild card race in the American League. This is a huge series coming up in Yankee Stadium as the hometown Yanks are coming off a tough loss on Thursday in their series finale with the Cincinnati Reds.

It was an up and down game with the Reds jumping out ahead multiple times but the Yankees seeming to always have an answer. That was, of course, until the end of the game when the Reds built a 7-4 lead in the 10th inning that was insurmountable. Boston and New York just split a four-game series a week ago so these two teams are very familiar with each other and we should be in for a treat over the weekend. As far as this series opener goes though, I have to side with New York. They are the much better team and after a few bad losses are due to bounce back in a big way. I think Friday is the day they do just that against their hated rivals.

The Boston Red Sox are third in the AL East with a 47-43 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 0-4 sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox are 6th in the league scoring 4.73 runs per game and are ranked 15th in the league allowing 4.27 runs per game. Boston will start Nathan Eovaldi who 4-2 for the season with a 3.16 ERA. The Red Sox have won 28 of the last 41 games played on Friday and 5 of the last 6 road games against left-handed starter.

Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays  – 7:10PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the first game of their three game weekend series in this one. They have met three times this season and the Orioles currently lead the series. Coming into this series the Rays hold a five games to four advantage.

The Baltimore Orioles have been red hot and are climbing their way up the American League Wild Card standings. They have won all ten of their last ten games and come into this series with the Tampa Bay Rays on a ten game winning streak. Despite the fact that they have been so red hot they remain in last place of the American League East division because of the strength of the other four teams within the division. 

The Tampa Bay Rays are coming into this game coming off of a four game sweep over the Boston Red Sox. They come into this game with a record of 49-40 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won six out of their last ten games on the season and have won their last four games in a row. One of these hot teams is going to have to lose in game one of this series and I think it’s going to be the Tampa Bay Rays as I have the Orioles winning game one.

The Baltimore Orioles got the day off on Thursday to travel down south for their weekend series against AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays. Surprisingly, the Os are the hottest team in baseball right now, winners of 10 straight, after looking like one of the worst teams to start the season. They are now a legit team to watch out for with their young core, and currently are just 2 games back of the final wild card spot. The Rays are holding that top wild card spot at the moment and are coming off a comeback win on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox. Boston held a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning before Tampa finally plated a run, and ended up scoring 5 in that inning. 

Those five runs were enough to hang on for the 5-4 victory in the series finale and give the Rays a clean four-game sweep of their division rival. This is a huge test for Baltimore to see how they stack up against one of the league’s most solid teams and I think they are up for the task. They are on a roll right now and get to face the Rays as they are deploying a bullpen strategy so they’ll have plenty of opportunities to get their offense going. This is not a train I want to go against at the moment and I’m just going to continue riding the hot hand in this game so give me the Os.

The Tampa Bay Rays are second in the AL East with a 49-40 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a dominant 4-0 series win against the Boston Red Sox. The Rays are 23rd in the league scoring 4.22 runs per game and are ranked 6th in the league allowing 3.91 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Luis Patino tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 13.50 ERA. The Rays have won the last 6 games against teams with a winning record and 4 of the last 5 games following a win.

The Baltimore Orioles are at the bottom of the AL East with a 45-44 record. They have won the last ten games which is their longest winning streak of the season and are coming off a 2-0 series win over the Chicago Cubs. The Orioles are 22nd in the league scoring 4.24 runs per game and are ranked 16th in the league allowing 4.31 runs per game. Baltimore will start Tyler Wells tonight who is 7-4 for the season with a 3.28 ERA. The Orioles have won the last 5 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game and 12 of the last 14 games following a win.

Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Guardians – 7:10PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the second game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game number one it was the Guardians who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch a share of the series in game number two.

The Detroit Tigers are coming into this game looking for a way to bounce back after losing game one of the series to the Cleveland Guardians. They were completely shut down by the Guardians starting pitcher Triston McKenzie. It has been a rough season for the Tigers as they come into this game with a record of 37-53 through their first 90 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost six out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game on a two game losing streak. 

The Cleveland Guardians picked up a big win in game one of this series which is a huge thing because they have had a rough time beating the Tigers this season. They are coming into this game with a record of 44-44 through their first 88 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost six out of their last ten games on the year as they will be looking to bounce back before the all star break gets here. I have them winning game two of this series.

The Cleveland Guardians got a nice 4-0 shutout win over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday to begin the four-game series with their divisional foe. The win was #44 on the year for them and got their record back to .500 on the season. Triston McKenzie was elite on the mound to lead Cleveland to victory, pitching 8 innings of shutout ball and striking out 12 batters. The Tigers have now lost six of seven after a 6-game winning streak and will hope that Friday is when they get things back on track. 

I’m not banking on that happening as Cleveland should be able to have a good day at the plate against Drew Hutchinson who has historically struggled against the Ohio team. In 17.1 career innings against the Guardians, he’s given up 18 runs (13 earned) while Zach Plesac has been dominant against the Tigers, sporting a 2.05 career ERA against them in eight starts. Plesac has also been great at home this year, with a 2.85 ERA and I don’t see much in the way of another blowout win here for the Guardians.

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 44-44 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-0 win in the series opener against the Tigers. Cleveland is 18th in the league scoring 4.33 runs per game and is ranked 18th in the league allowing 4.40 runs per game. The Guardians will start Zach Plesac tonight who is 2-7 for the season with a 3.99 ERA. Cleveland has lost 5 of the last 6 games against teams with a losing record and the last 4 games when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Detroit Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with a 37-53 record. They have lost 6 of the last 7 games and came into this series after a 1-3 series loss against the Kansas City Royals. The Tigers are at the bottom of the league scoring 3.25 runs per game and are ranked 19th in the league allowing 4.41 runs per game. Drew Hutchison will start tonight for the Tigers who is 1-4 for the season with a 4.08 ERA. Detroit has won 5 of the last 6 second games of a series and has lost 5 of the last 6 road games against teams with a losing record.

Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers – 8:05PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will be playing the second game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game number one it was the Mariners who got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch a share of the series in game number two.

The Seattle Mariners winning streak continues after another big win in game win of this series with the Texas Rangers. They now come into this game with a record of 48-42 through their first 90 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won ten out of their last ten games on the year and are currently on an eleven game winning streak at the moment. They have climbed all the way up into an American League Wild Card spot as they currently occupy the second wild card spot as they are looking to make their first postseason in a while. 

The Texas Rangers will be looking to bounce back after their loss to the Seattle Mariners in game one of this series after holding a lead for the majority of the game. They are coming into game two of their series with a record of 41-46 through their first 87 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place in the American League West division. I have them losing game two of this series as well.

It looked like the winning streak for the Seattle Mariners was coming to an end when they fell behind 5-1 in the 5th inning but then those winning instincts kicked in. They rallied and scored 5 unanswered runs in the final three innings to win 6-5 and bring their winning streak up to 11 games. 

They have excelled in the clutch moments, winning seven of those games by two or fewer runs and have a firm grip on the second wild card spot in the AL. The Rangers are 4-7 in their last eleven and are catching this Mariners team just at the wrong time of the season. I’m going to keep riding the hot hand until I have a reason not to, especially against a team in a funk like the Rangers.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:38PM ET

They have won nine out of their last ten games on the year and are coming into this game on a two game winning streak. 

The Los Angeles Angels are coming into this game with a record of 39-51 through their first 90 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They had such a fantastic start to the season but have hit a huge slump since firing Joe Madden. They are currently in fourth place of the American League West division at the moment as they trail the Houston Astros by twenty games. I have them losing game one of this series as well.

The battle for Los Angeles is set to take place over the next two days when the Dodgers and Angels face off for a quick interleague series starting up on Friday. The Dodgers will be coming in riding high on confidence with an 11-2 record in the month of July after taking two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals on the road. The Los Angeles Angels continued to be the bad team that they are, losing 3-2 at home to the Houston Astros on Thursday.

 It was another lost series for the Angels who haven’t been able to come out on top in a series the entire month of July. That will most likely be the case again as they face one of the most loaded teams in the league, the Dodgers. Should be a great start to the weekend for the LA team in blue who will have Clayton Kershaw going on the mound.
