Houston Astros @ Minnesota Twins – 2:07PM ET

The defending World Series champions will be looking to grab a massive victory here in game number four of this series on Wednesday afternoon in Minnesota. They split their two games at home against the Minnesota Twins, and they will be looking for an equal or better result here in this game against Minnesota as well. The Houston Astros week off could be detrimental to their performance throughout the remainder of this series, and they will be looking to grab a much-needed victory here in this one, because after splitting the first two games at home, it meant that they have to win at least one game on the road to force game five back at home in Houston against the Minnesota Twins. 

Minnesota was heavily criticized throughout the regular season, because they won the worst division in all of Major League Baseball. However, throughout the first two rounds of the postseason, they have put some of the criticism to rest as they swept the Toronto Blue Jays in the wildcard series, and they managed to get a split with the defending World Series champions on the road. Coming into the two games at home from Minnesota. They were hoping they could sweep both games, but at the very least all they needed to do was win one to put Houston on the brink of elimination over the last couple games of the series. Unfortunately, for Minnesota I don’t see them grabbing the victory in this game as I look for Houston to grab the win here on Wednesday afternoon. 

Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Phillies – 5:07PM ET

It took a miraculous double play to win the game, but the Atlanta Braves were able to even up this series, and avoid being put on the brink of elimination with their victory in game number two against the Philadelphia Phillies. Now Atlanta will be looking to go on the road to Philadelphia and grab a victory in a pivotal Game number three as their lineup is finally starting to heat up after their weeklong rest between the end of the regular season, and the duration of the wildcard series. Atlanta is a team that is likely favored to win the World Series but they will have to play a lot better than they have throughout the first two games of this series if they want to get the job done. They should be back at full force throughout the remainder of this series so it’ll be interesting to see how Philadelphia handles that after their shocking loss the other night.

The Philadelphia Phillies had the game wrapped up before an awful play, and a late home run cost them a crucial victory. Now they will head back home for the following two games of this series looking to grab two victories that could put them in their second consecutive National League Championship Series and also give them their second consecutive playoff elimination of the Atlanta Braves over the past two seasons. Aaron Nola will be on the mound for this game for Philadelphia, which should give the Phillies a solid opportunity to win this game at home here on Wednesday night. I expect this to be a close and competitive contest, but in the end I look for Philadelphia’s bullpen to give up the lead again and for the Atlanta Braves to grab the victory.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:07PM ET

It will be crucial for the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup to get the bats going after some subpar performances, if Los Angeles wants to avoid getting swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks in this second round series. If they don’t, then the Los Angeles Dodgers will be missing out on their opportunity to win another National League pennant, and potentially even another World Series ring, because it is very likely that they will lose this game on Wednesday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been very consistent throughout the season, but after their week off between the end of the regular season, and throughout the wildcard round, they have shown signs of struggling. They will have to improve in a hurry, and somehow find a way to win the next three games if they want to advance to the NLCS next week. 

The Arizona Diamondbacks were unable to win the National League West division during the regular season, but playing in the wildcard series, could be a massive reason for their success throughout the playoffs. They did not have a week off like the Los Angeles Dodgers and that has shown throughout the first two games of this series as the Los Angeles Dodgers have looked very sluggish and unprepared, while Arizona has looked hot and ready to go. Now they have Los Angeles on the brink of elimination and with the next two games of this series coming at home all Arizona needs is one victory to advance to the next round of the postseason. I expect them to grab that victory here on Wednesday night and send the Los Angeles Dodgers packing.
