Hot-hitting Ty France will be looking to extend his 10-game hitting streak as the Seattle Mariners (20-19) match up against the Detroit Tigers (17-21) at Comerica Park on Sunday with the visitors eyeing a sweep of the three-game series.
The Mariners lead the series 2-0 after winning 5-0 on Saturday, their fifth straight head-to-head victory. Bryce Miller threw seven scoreless innings to get the win.
Teoscar Hernandez was 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs in the win. Riley Greene went 1 for 4 with a double for the Tigers.
ON THE MOUND
Logan Gilbert (1-2, 3.79 ERA) is set to start for Seattle. The RHP allowed two runs over 6.2 innings in his last start, a 2-1 road defeat against the Rangers on Monday. He was charged with the loss, giving up three hits while striking out 10 and walking one.
Gilbert is making his first appearance against the Tigers this season. Gilbert made one start against the Tigers in 2022, a 7-0 road victory on September 1. He allowed two hits over six scoreless innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Southpaw Joey Wentz (1-3, 6.09 ERA) gets the ball for Detroit. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Mariners. In his last start on Monday, Wentz got the win on the road against the Guardians.
He threw 5.2 innings and gave up two runs on three hits, striking out five and walking three in the 6-2 victory.
