Jurickson Profar will be looking to extend his 30-game on-base streak as the Colorado Rockies (20-28) host the Miami Marlins (24-24) at Coors Field on Tuesday.
The Rockies took Monday’s series opener 5-3. Jake Bird got the win with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, and Pierce Johnson earned his ninth save with a scoreless ninth.
Elias Diaz went 2 for 3 with a home run and a double in the win. He drove in two runs. Profar added two doubles, one run, and two RBIs. Bryan De La Cruz was 4 for 4 with two runs for the Marlins.
ON THE MOUND
Eury Perez (1-0, 2.79 ERA) is slated to take the mound for Miami. The RHP allowed one run over five innings in his last start, a 5-3 home win over the Nationals on Thursday. He earned the win, yielding three hits while striking out six and walking one.
Southpaw Austin Gomber (3-4, 6.70 ERA) takes the mound for Colorado. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Marlins. Gomber made one appearance against the Marlins in 2022, throwing 1.2 innings in a 7-4 road defeat on June 22.
He gave up three hits and walked one, while striking out two. In his last start on Wednesday, Gomber took a no-decision at home against the Reds. He threw 4.1 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking two in the 11-6 victory.

Over the last five games, Miami has averaged 3.4 runs a game, equal to their season average. Against southpaws like Gomber this season, the Fish have a .787 OPS. Jorge Soler is the team’s best performer against left-handers with a 1.638 OPS in 32 at-bats.
Colorado is averaging 5.2 runs per game in the last five, up slightly from 4.4 for the season. The Rockies have a .730 OPS against right-handers in 2023. With a .985 OPS over 102 at-bats, Diaz has been their best hitter against right-handers.
