Hot-hitting Luis Arraez will be looking to extend his 11-game hitting streak as the Miami Marlins (17-19) face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks (20-15) at Chase Field on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks took Monday’s series opener 5-2, their second head-to-head victory in four games this season.
Starter Zac Gallen got the win, giving up one run on five hits over seven innings and striking out seven. Christian Walker’s on-base streak reached 10 as he went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double in the win.
He had two RBIs. Gabriel Moreno went 3 for 4 with a double and one RBI. Jesus Sanchez was 2 for 3 with two doubles and one RBI for the Marlins. Garrett Hampson added a double and one RBI.
ON THE MOUND
Jesus Luzardo (2-2, 3.66 ERA) is in line to get the start for Miami. The southpaw allowed four runs (three earned) over 5.2 innings in his last start, a 6-3 road defeat against the Braves on Thursday. He took the loss, scattering seven hits while striking out five and walking three.
Luzardo is making his first appearance against the Diamondbacks this season. Luzardo made one start against the Diamondbacks in 2022, a 9-3 road loss on May 10. He surrendered four runs on two hits over 2.2 innings, striking out six and walking four.
Right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (0-0, 13.50 ERA) will toe the rubber for Arizona. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Marlins. In his last start on Wednesday, Pfaadt took a no-decision on the road against the Rangers. He threw 4.2 innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one in the 12-7 win.
