As a result of their 4-1 record against the Angels and A’s, the San Francisco Giants are our new No. 1 team on the SportsTips’ MLB Power Rankings after 12 weeks of the 2021 season. Find out where your team ranks below!
Here’s where all 30 MLB teams stand heading into Week 13 of the 2021 MLB season:
1. San Francisco Giants
World Series Championship Odds: +1700
Current Record: 50-27
Previous Rankings: 2
Although they lost their final clash of Week 12, San Francisco’s 4-1 record last week was good enough to see them jump Houston as the No. 1 ranked team on the SportsTips’ MLB Power Rankings heading into Week 13. The Giants won each of their two games against the Angels in Los Angeles before winning two of their three games against the A’s at home.

Kevin Gausman and Anthony Desclafani are proving to be one of the best starting duos in the league, while the Giants lineup has clubbed 23 homers for 83 runs throughout their last 12 games. San Francisco have a 10-2 win-loss record in that time.
2. Houston Astros
World Series Championship Odds: +600
Current Record: 48-30
Previous Rankings: 1
Houston did not do much wrong to warrant a slip in this week’s rankings as they won five of their seven games against Baltimore and Detroit. After sweeping the Orioles early in Week 12, Houston’s winning streak reached 11 consecutive games. However, their 2-2 split series against the below .500 Tigers brought an end to their streak and saw the Astros slip to No. 2 on the SportsTips’ MLB Power Rankings heading into Week 13.
The Astros own a 12-2 record from their past 14 games and they have outscored their opponents 98-31 during that time. Their lineup leads the league in hits, runs, RBIs, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging and total base hit. However, Houston’s pitching has also been outstanding throughout their past 14 games, as their starters boast a 10-1 record and 2.10 ERA in that time.
3. Tampa Bay Rays
World Series Championship Odds: +1400
Current Record: 47-32
Previous Rankings: 5
Following their rocky start to the summer, Tampa Bay look to be back on track after securing four wins from their six games in Week 12. The Rays took a pair of 2-1 series victories away from their back to back series at home, defeating the AL East leading Boston Red Sox as well as the Los Angeles Angels.
Mike Zunino has been the driving force behind Tampa Bay’s offensive resurgence, with four home runs and eight RBIs in his last eight games. The MLB world also got their first look at Wander Franco last week, as the 20 year old top prospect hit a three-run homer on his MLB debut, to go along with a double and a walk. Franco finished with two runs from two hits and three RBIs on the day.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers
World Series Championship Odds: +390
Current Record: 47-31
Previous Rankings: 3
In what was another rollercoaster week for the reigning World Series champs, the Los Angeles Dodgers won three of their seven encounters. The Dodgers began Week 12 by being swept by the Padres in San Diego before they were on the wrong side of a no-hitter in their series opener against the Cubs. However, Los Angeles responded with three consecutive wins against Chicago to salvage a respectable 3-4 record.
The Dodgers are now one game ahead of the Padres and three and a half games behind the Giants in the NL West as they prepare for a Week 13 two game set against San Francisco at home.
5. Boston Red Sox
World Series Championship Odds: +1500
Current Record: 47-31
Previous Rankings: 7
Boston played a pair of division rivals in Week 12, as they took on the Rays in Tampa Bay and the Yankees in Boston. The Red Sox drew first blood in their top of the table series against the Rays, however Tampa Bay won the final two games to secure the series victory. Boston then swept the New York Yankees over the weekend to give themselves a 6-0 record over their arch rivals this season.
Sunday’s victory over the Yankees was Eduardo Rodriguez’s first win since May 7, as the Red Sox have been heavily reliant on their offensive production to start the summer.
6. San Diego Padres
World Series Championship Odds: +850
Current Record: 47-33
Previous Rankings: 8
After closing out Week 11 with a four game sweep over the Reds in San Diego, the Padres continued their impressive homestand early in Week 12 by sweeping the Dodgers in their three game series. San Diego continued their stretch of home games with two wins from their three games against the lowly Diamondbacks, giving them a 5-1 record from last week’s matches and leaving them just one game behind the Dodgers for second place in the NL West.
Fernando Tatis Jr. has shown no signs of slowing down as he approaches his debut All-Star game. After his three homer game on Friday, the 22 year old is on pace for a 51 home run season. The MLB record for the most homers by a player aged 22 or younger is 47.
7. Chicago White Sox
World Series Championship Odds: +700
Current Record: 45-32
Previous Rankings: 4
The White Sox began Week 12 by splitting their two game set against the Pirates in Pittsburgh before returning home for their three game series against the Mariners. Seattle defeated Chicago twice over the weekend, giving the White Sox a 2-3 Week 12 record and a 2-7 record from their past nine games. Chicago still holds a two and a half lead over Cleveland for the top spot in the AL Central.
Chicago’s recent form slump can largely be attributed to the decrease in Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada’s offensive production. Abreu was hitting at just .179/.233/.274 in June before he left Sunday’s game after getting hit by a pitch on the knee. Although the reigning AL MVP is listed as day to day, his absence still leaves a hole in the White Sox struggling offense.
8. Oakland Athletics
World Series Championship Odds: +1800
Current Record: 47-33
Previous Rankings: 6
After splitting their four game series against the Rangers in Texas, the A’s continued their stretch of road games by taking on the National League leading Giants in San Francisco. Oakland won just one of their three games in California, leaving them with a 3-4 record from last week’s matches.
At the mound the A’s have won all five of Cole Irvin’s starts in June, giving the former Phillies pitcher a 2.64 ERA to start the summer. However, Oakland’s offensive depth will soon be tested as Mark Canha has landed on the IL with hip tendonitis. Canha has been the A’s second-best hitter after Matt Olson this season, so his absence will be felt.
9. Milwaukee Brewers
World Series Championship Odds: +1800
Current Record: 45-33
Previous Rankings: 13
The Milwaukee Brewers extended their lead on top of the NL Central division after a 5-1 record from their six games last week. The Brewers dropped the opening game of their series against Diamondback in Arizona before winning their final five matches of Week 12, including a three game sweep over the Rockies.

— Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) June 27, 2021
Having allowed just 15 runs across their six games last week, including two shutouts, Milwaukee’s pitching staff is clearly capable of making a playoff run this season, however the Brewers lineup will need to improve. Both Willy Adames (.281/.356/.496) and Luis Urias (.267/.346/.440) are starting to find their offensive grooves in June after poor starts to their respective seasons.
10. Toronto Blue Jays
World Series Championship Odds: +3000
Current Record: 40-36
Previous Rankings: 15
Seeing as they are competing against the likes of Boston and Tampa Bay in the AL East, Toronto are not getting enough respect for the truly great offensive season that they are putting together. After sweeping the Marlins in their short two game set in Miami, the Blue Jays won three of their four games against the Orioles to give themselves a 5-1 record last week. Toronto scored six runs per game in Week 12, taking their average for the season to 5.09 runs per contest.
As George Springer has spent the majority of his first year with Toronto on the IL, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has taken the opportunity to establish himself as one of the best hitters in MLB. The 22-year-old phenom is batting at .382/.471/.787 with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs in June.
11. New York Mets
World Series Championship Odds: +850
Current Record: 40-33
Previous Rankings: 9
The Mets had their second consecutive eight game week in Week 12 and they posted a 4-4 record from their two series against a pair of NL East rivals. New York split both of their four game sets against Atlanta and Philadelphia at home to remain four games ahead of the surging Washington Nationals, whom they play in Week 13.
New York’s injury riddled rotation is keeping them afloat at the moment and they will receive a boost with Carlos Carrasco and Noah Syndergaard returning to availability in the second half of the season. However, the Mets offense has scored just 29 runs over the last 13 games, eight of which they have lost, giving New York a 3.59 runs per game average, which is the worst in the league.
12. Chicago Cubs
World Series Championship Odds: +3200
Current Record: 42-36
Previous Rankings: 10
After splitting their two games against the Indians in Chicago, the Cubs won just one of their four games against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, giving them a 2-4 Week 12 record. Chicago’s highlight of the week was unquestionably their collective no-hitter against Los Angeles, giving the Dodgers their first no-hit game since 2015.
The Cubs will look to make up some ground on the division leading Brewers in Week 13 when the two NL Central rivals meet for a three game series in Milwaukee. Chicago currently sits in second place in the division, trailing Milwaukee by three games.
13. Cleveland Indians
World Series Championship Odds: +4800
Current Record: 41-33
Previous Rankings: 12
Cleveland won two of their five road games against the Cubs and Twins in Week 12. The Indians split their two game set against the Cubs in Chicago before dropping two of their three games against the Twins in Minnesota. Cleveland held their opponents to just one run combined in their two wins, however they allowed 23 opposition runs in their three losses.
The Indians offense has not fired at all this season and their pitching staff took another hit last week with Aaron Civale joining Shane Bieber on the IL after suffering a finger sprain. Civale currently leads the league in wins (10) and Bieber leads the league in strikeouts (130), they are both expected to miss the next month.
14. New York Yankees
World Series Championship Odds: +1500
Current Record: 40-37
Previous Rankings: 11
Although they won two of their three games against the Royals early in Week 12, the Yankees were then swept by their arch rivals at Fenway Park. Boston outscored New York 18-7 in the three game series, which has extended their head to head lead over the Yankees to 6-0 this season.
Sunday’s loss to the Red Sox was made even worse with ace Gerrit Cole getting clubbed for six runs and three homers in five innings at the mound.
15. Washington Nationals
World Series Championship Odds: +8000
Current Record: 37-38
Previous Rankings: 21
The Washington Nationals made up some important ground in the NL East, winning four of their six games to improve to second place in their division, now just four games behind the first placed Mets. The Nationals swept the Phillies in their short two game set on the road before splitting their four game series against the Marlins in Miami.

— Jared Carrabis (@Jared_Carrabis) June 24, 2021
Kyle Schwarber continued his incredible start to the summer, as he now has 13 home runs in his last 16 games. Schwarber briefly tied Fernando Tatis Jr. for the most home runs in the Nationals League before Tatis Jr. retook the lead with a three homer game on Friday.
16. Cincinnati Reds
World Series Championship Odds: +6000
Current Record: 38-38
Previous Rankings: 14
Cincinnati split both their two game series against the Twins in Minnesota and their four game series against the Braves at home to give themselves a 3-3 record in Week 12, keeping them at a .500 record.
After what can only be described as a disastrous start to the season, Luis Castillo looks to be back to his best at the mound. Castillo’s seven shutout innings against Atlanta on Saturday gives him a 1.71 ERA in five starts in June with 32 strikeouts and just one homer allowed in 31.2 innings. Castillo’s return to form has seen his ERA lower from its peak of 7.61 to 5.14.
17. Atlanta Braves
World Series Championship Odds: +3500
Current Record: 37-40
Previous Rankings: 19
Atlanta split both their four game series against the Mets in New York and their four game series against the Red in Cincinnati for a 4-4 record during a busy eight game week. A .500 record in Week 12 was not good enough to see the Braves hold onto second place in the NL East, as they were surpassed by the surging Nationals.
Atlanta’s offense failed to score five runs in any of their matches last week, however Kyle Muller showed some encouraging signs at the mound. The rookie struck-out nine Cincinnati batters in five shutout innings on Sunday, giving the southpaw a 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through his first 10 innings in the majors.
18. Seattle Mariners
World Series Championship Odds: +14000
Current Record: 41-38
Previous Rankings: 17
As a result of their 3-2 record last week, Seattle now have 10 wins from their past 13 games. The Mariners split their two game series against the Rockies at home before defeating the White Sox twice from their three games in Chicago.
Of Seattle’s 10 recent wins, six have been by one run or in extra innings, giving them an incredible 17-7 record in one run games. The Mariners are three games above .500 despite a -43 run differential.
19. Philadelphia Phillies
World Series Championship Odds: +6000
Current Record: 36-39
Previous Rankings: 16
As a result of the Nationals resurgence and the Mets and Braves posting .500 Week 12 records, the Phillies have slipped to fourth place in the NL East. Philadelphia lost both of their games against the Nationals in Washington before splitting their four game series against the Mets in New York for a 2-4 record.
After a makeup game against Cincinnati, Philadelphia will face the division’s last placed Miami Marlins in their next series. A series win for the Phillies will see them remain amongst the pack in the NL East, however a series loss would leave them with lots of ground to make up in their division.
20. Los Angeles Angels
World Series Championship Odds: +7000
Current Record: 37-40
Previous Rankings: 18
After dropping their opening four games of Week 12 against the Giants and Rays, the Angels active losing streak stood at five consecutive games. However, Los Angeles returned to the winners list on Sunday, avoiding a sweep at the hands of Tampa Bay with a 6-4 victory. As a result of their 1-5 week against two talented teams, the Angels now have a 19-33 record against teams .500 or better.
Shohei Ohtani showed why he is the favorite to take out the AL MVP in Sunday’s victory, as the two-way star joined Mike Trout as the only players in franchise history to hit a double, triple, home run and collect a stolen base in the same game.
21. Minnesota Twins
World Series Championship Odds: +10000
Current Record: 33-43
Previous Rankings: 23
After splitting their two game set against the Reds in Minnesota, the Twins defeated the Indians in two of their three games at home over the weekend, giving them a 3-2 record. Minnesota are 7-2 in their past nine games.
The Twins lineup scored 7+ runs in all but one of their games last week. Minnesota will face the AL Central leading White Sox in two of their next three series.
22. Detroit Tigers
World Series Championship Odds: +50000
Current Record: 34-44
Previous Rankings: 24
The Detroit Tigers have moved into third place in the AL Central after winning four of their six games last week. The Tigers defeated the Cardinals twice from two games early in Week 12 before they split their four game series against the AL leading Astros. With a 25-20 record from their past 45 games, Detroit are far from a walkover team.
The Tigers will face the second placed Indians and first placed White Sox in their next two series, which gives them the opportunity to break away from the Royals and Twins at the bottom of the AL Central.
23. St Louis Cardinals
World Series Championship Odds: +4000
Current Record: 37-41
Previous Rankings: 20
St Louis continued their horrific start to the summer in Week 12, winning just one of their six games. The Cardinals were swept by the Tigers in their two game series in Detroit before losing three of their four games against the Pirates at home. St Louis now owns a 7-17 record in June and they have won just one series this month.

— St. Louis Cardinals (@Cardinals) June 27, 2021
The Cardinals lineup has averaged 2.9 runs per game with a .604 OPS in June, both marks being the worst in the majors. As well as that, their pitching staff owns a 5.14 ERA throughout the month, ranking them third last in the National League.
24. Miami Marlins
World Series Championship Odds: +14000
Current Record: 33-44
Previous Rankings: 22
The Marlins won just two of their six games last week. Miami were swept in their two game series against Toronto before they split their four game set against the Nationals. Although they are now 11 games below .500, the Marlins still boast a +17 run differential. Their poor record can be attributed to their 6-16 record in one run games.
The pitching staff headlined by Sandy Alcantara, Trevor Rogers and Pablo Lopez are keeping the Marlins afloat this season, with Miami’s rotation ranking fifth in team ERA with a 3.37 average. However, Miami’s lineup has scored zero runs in six of their last 11 games, making it incredibly difficult to win.
25. Texas Rangers
World Series Championship Odds: +50000
Current Record: 30-48
Previous Rankings: 27
After splitting their four game series against the A’s at home, the Rangers then swept the Royals in their three game weekend series, giving Texas a 5-2 record last week. Their weekend sweep marked the first time in over a month that the Rangers won back to back games.
After posting a 5.35 ERA last season, Kyle Gibson has been impressive in the first season on his three year deal with the Rangers. The 33 year old now has a 6-0 record and an AL leading 2.00 ERA in 15 starts this year.
26. Colorado Rockies
World Series Championship Odds: +50000
Current Record: 31-47
Previous Rankings: 25
Colorado were on the road for their five games in Week 12, however they could not improve on their terrible record away from home. The Rockies split their two game set against the Mariners in Seattle before they were swept by the Brewers in Milwaukee. Colorado’s 1-4 record last week gives them a deplorable 6-31 record on the road this year, keeping them on pace for the worst road record in modern MLB history.
Thankfully for the Rockies, each of their next three series are against below .500 teams and two of those three series will take place in Colorado, where they boast a respectable 26-16 record.
27. Kansas City Royals
World Series Championship Odds: +11000
Current Record: 33-43
Previous Rankings: 26
Kansas City won their opening game of Week 12 against the Yankees before closing out their week with five consecutive losses against New York and Texas. As a result of their 1-5 record, the Royals own a 4-17 record from their last 21 games and they now sit in last place in the AL Central, 11 and a half games behind the division leading White Sox.
Despite their terrible form as a team, Nicky Lopez has had a strong start to the summer with the bat. Lopez has hit at .345/.433/.362 in June and he has more walks (nine) than strikeouts (seven).
28. Pittsburgh Pirates
World Series Championship Odds: +50000
Current Record: 29-47
Previous Rankings: 28
Pittsburgh kicked off Week 12 by splitting their two game set against the White Sox at home. The Pirates then won three of their four games against the Cardinals in St Louis to give them a 4-2 record last week.
In what was ultimately a pretty successful week for the Pirates, Max Kranick made his MLB debut on Sunday in St. Louis and he did not allow a run or a hit through five shutout innings.
29. Baltimore Orioles
World Series Championship Odds: +50000
Current Record: 24-54
Previous Rankings: 29
After being swept in their three game series by Houston, Baltimore managed to win one of their four games against Toronto on the road, giving them a 1-6 record last week. The Orioles are now 2-16 in their past 18 games and their 24 wins are six fewer than the next worst team in the American League.
In the 20 games since John Means landed on the IL with a shoulder injury, Baltimore’s starting pitchers have thrown six innings just twice. To put that into perspective, Means threw at least six innings in eight of his 12 starts this year, including the game where he sustained the injury.
30. Arizona Diamondbacks
World Series Championship Odds: +50000
Current Record: 22-57
Previous Rankings: 30
The Diamondbacks recorded their long awaited 21st win of the season in Week 12, posting a 2-4 record from their six games against the Brewers and Padres. Arizona recorded a pair of 1-2 series losses against two above .500 opponents, stealing one game off Milwaukee at home and another off San Diego on the road.
Merill Kelly was the Diamondbacks hero of Week 12, starting and earning victories in both wins last week. Kelly brought an end to Arizona’s franchise record 17 game losing streak on Monday before he snapped the team’s MLB record 24 game road losing streak on Saturday.
