MLB Betting: Are The Milwaukee Brewers Worth a Preseason Bet?

MLB Betting: Are The Milwaukee Brewers Worth a Preseason Bet?
Tue 15th December 2020

The Milwaukee Brewers declined Ryan Braun’s contract option this offseason, making him a free agent. The odds of the longtime Brewer leading the club are likely, and that has created a negative impact on the Brewers’ MLB betting line. The team has a +4000 line to win the World Series in 2021.

The Brewers may not be the most appealing wagering choice for 2021. Here are some reasons why the Brewers aren’t the right choices to find for your MLB betting desires. As you will see, the Brewers have too many losses for them to compete this season.

Substantial Turnover

The greatest worry for the Brewers in 2021 involves the significant roster turnover the team is experiencing. Jedd Gyorko, Eric Sogard, and Brett Anderson are among the players who are departing from the team. Corey Knebel has also been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Brewers may start making some one-year deals on assorted players to create a semi-competitive team in 2021. The team doesn’t have many prospects down the line, which makes a rough situation worse.

Trying To Build Offense

The Brewers’ offense didn’t inspire anyone in 2020, as Orlando Arcia was the only regular starter to have an average over .250 last year. The Brewers will hope that last year was a developmental year for Arcia, Keston Hiura, Ben Gamel, and some other young players on the roster.

Two Rising Pitchers

The Brewers’ pitching rotation features Adrian Houser and Brandon Woodruff, but there is one pitcher who might be more interesting. Corbin Burnes had a breakout season last year, going 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA.

He threw 88 strikeouts and averaged thirteen strikes per nine innings. The Brewers are hoping for Burnes to be the next top star for the team and to potentially become a number-one option, a point that might be necessary.

The other outstanding pitcher to watch is Devin Williams, the National League Rookie of the Year. He threw 53 strikeouts in 27 innings from the bullpen, and he didn’t even break double-digits for walks. Williams will be a solid setup man for closer Josh Hader.

But even then, there are reports that Hader might be traded for prospects. The Brewers have trimmed off about twenty percent of the team’s payroll in the past few years, and they may not be willing to spend more than necessary. With the farm system being bare, the team will need to flip a star player for future support. Hader might be the player who will head out of town.

Our Overall Pick

The Milwaukee Brewers have some talented young players, especially in Corbin Burnes and Devin Williams. But we find it hard to choose the Brewers for any MLB betting picks, as the roster turnover will be too significant.

The Brewers will have a patchwork-based team for much of the season due to so many players leaving. You’ll find some interesting young stars on this squad, but there’s nothing to be excited about in 2021.
