In the midst of the NBA, NHL Super Bowl LV and the Australian Open all firing this weekend, the PGA Tour is off to Phoenix for the 2021 Waste Management Open. TPC Scottsdale will host the 89th Phoenix Open this Thursday, as Webb Simpson looks to defend his 2020 crown.
But who will be named champion in 2021?
Take a look at our Best Bets and Best Longshots for the The 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open below:
Best Bet To Win The The 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open
Xander Schauffele (+1000)
Despite a disappointing start to the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open, Xander Schauffele stormed back into contention at Torrey Pines last week. Schauffele tied Henrik Norlander and Francesco Molinari for the lowest round of the weekend, which resulted in him finishing in second place (five shots behind tournament winner Patrick Reed) and securing his fourth top-five finish in six tournaments this season.
Although he hasn’t secured a tour victory in over two years, the stars are aligning for Schauffele this weekend, coming into the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open in undeniable form and returning to a course where he ranks ninth in overall strokes-gained.
Schauffele has never finished worse than top 20 at TPC Scottsdale and will enter the tournament with the most strokes gained in 2021 of any player in this field.
At 27 years of age and currently in the midst of what can only be described as a tournament ‘dry spell’, Schauffele is flying under the radar coming into the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open, as he is clearly playing arguably the best golf of anyone on tour this year.
In The Mix: Daniel Berger (+2000)
Happy with a runner-up finish in my hometown event @FarmersInsOpen. Really hope we get fans back when we play the @usopengolf at Torrey this summer 🤙🏻 pic.twitter.com/D4KxKop01i

Best Longshot To Win The The 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open
Bubba Watson (+5000)
Despite having never won the Waste Management Phoenix Open, TPC Scottsdale is still one of Bubba Watson’s most successful courses. Watson has six top 10 finishes from 14 starts in Phoenix, including two second places, and in each of those 14 starts Watson has shot under par in the opening round (currently +5000 to be leading after Round 1).
Despite missing the cut at last week’s Farmers Insurance Open, Bubba has been in sensational form off the tee this season. Watson has picked up strokes off the tee in 10 consecutive events as well as gaining strokes on approach to the green in six of his past seven starts.
Although his putting has let him down recently, Watson’s long game is giving every indication that the two time Masters champion is ready for his first tour win in over two years.
In The Mix: Brooks Koepka (+4000)
You never know what you’re going to see at No. 16…
