Free Golf Picks For The 2021 US Open
Wed 16th June 2021

Torrey Pines Golf Course will once again host one of golf’s four major championships when the 121st US Open even kicks off in San Diego this Wednesday night!

Take a look at our Best Bets for the 2021 US Open below:

Best Bet To Win The 2021 US Open:

Brooks Koepka (+1800)

Quite simply, Brooks Koepka is a golfer that thrives at major championship events and he is our pick to win his fifth major and third US Open at Torrey Pines in 2021. Yes, Koepka did miss the cut at the Palmetto Championship last week at Congaree, however missed cuts haven’t meant much in terms of predicting success for the world No. 10 in the past. For example, Koepka’s second place finish at last month’s PGA Championship followed two consecutive missed cuts and so did his win at TPC Scottsdale earlier this year.

With 13 top 10 finishes from his last 20 major championships, you almost have to throw the form at stats out the window when looking at Koepka on the biggest stage. More specifically, Koepka is a proven winner at Torrey Pines having won the US Open in 2017 and 2018. Even if one round does start to get away from him, Koepka will keep the ball on the fairway and hit greens in regulation, which should keep him in the mix.

As well as possessing the skills and experience to add to his trophy case, Koepka’s recent feud with reigning US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau should help keep him motivated this weekend. Bryson claims to be living ‘rent-free’ inside Brooks’ head, however if Koepka can dethrone DeChambeau at Torrey Pines this weekend and win his fifth major, Brooks will undoubtedly have the last laugh.

Best Bet For A Top 10 Finish At The 2021 US Open:

Cameron Smith (+490)

Although we aren’t sure if he is capable of winning his first major this weekend, Cameron Smith is our pick for another strong performance on golf’s biggest stage. Smith will take on the Southern Course at Torrey Pines on Wednesday night, where the Australian has 15 rounds of course experience and has an average of 0.97 strokes gained per round. Smith ranks 11th on the US PGA Tour this season in strokes gained around the greens and is 14th in putting, while also coming in at 31st in bogey avoidance.

Despite owning just the one victory on the PGA tour, Smith has three top 10 finishes in 2021, including a T10 at the Masters in April, and he has not missed the cut in any of the last 11 majors. Smith will enter the 2021 US Open having won his last start alongside countrymen Mark Leishman.

However, the 27 year old understands that good form alone will not win him his maiden major championship this weekend, stating that “form doesn’t really matter when 99 of the top 100 players in the world are in the field.” With a mentality that has proven to be successful at majors, we like Smith to record his fourth top 10 of the 2021 season this weekend at Torrey Pines.
