Free Golf Picks For The 2021 Travelers Championship
Wed 23rd June 2021

We’re less than 24 hours away from the 2021 Travelers Championship, as the PGA Tour is heading from the west coast to the east to kick off the event at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut.

Take a look at our Best Bets for the 2021 Travelers Championship below:

Best Bet To Win The 2021 Travelers Championship:

Dustin Johnson (+1300)

Although Bryson DeChambeau is FanDuel’s favorite to win the 2021 Travelers Championship, we believe that world No. 2 Dustin Johnson will continue his form resurgence during the upcoming event at TPC River Highlands and defend his 2020 Travelers Championship title. Admittedly, Johnson’s form has been up and down since his Masters victory in November of 2020, however following a rough start to the 2021 season, DJ has performed well in his last two starts. He finished T10 at the Palmetto Championship earlier this month and T19 at the US Open last weekend.

Johnson finished the 2020 Travelers Championship with a score of 261 (-19), defeating Kevin Streelman by one stroke. Following that victory, DJ went on to finish first or second in five of his next 10 events. Johnson has struggled with his putter so far this year, however he has a knack for dominating Pete Dye designed courses. As well as that, the 36 year old will pick up plenty of shots on the short par fours (of which there are many) with his ever reliable wedges. Given his proven ability to perform at TPC River Highlands, we believe that a good tournament this week could propel Johnson back into his career best form in the back half of the 2021 season.

Best Bet For A Top Five Finish At The 2021 Travelers Championship:

Paul Casey (+410)

In what has been a year for the resurgent old golfer, 46 year old Paul Casey has been performing very well in 2021 and we like him to continue that form at TPC River Highlands this week. In his last three starts, Casey has earned three consecutive top 10 finishes, finishing T4 at the PGA Championship in May, sixth at the European Open earlier in June and most recently T7 at the US Open last weekend. When looking at his competition for this event, Casey is also top five in the field for total strokes gained in his last 20 rounds.

As well as his dominant form in 2021, Casey has been a consistently great performer at this course. The world No. 20 has played this event six times and has never finished worse than T32. He has two runner-up finishes at the Travelers Championship and two more T5 finishes. In those six career starts at TPC River Highlands, Casey 68 under par. Given his form this season, success at this event and dominance on this course, Paul Casey to finish top five is arguably our favorite pick for the 2021 Travelers Championship.

Best Bet For A Top 10 Finish At The 2021 Travelers Championship:

Abraham Ancer (+280)

Don’t be fooled by him missing the cut at the US Open last weekend, Abraham Ancer is having a seriously good 2021 season on the PGA Tour, and he is our pick for a top 10 finish at the Travelers Championship this week. His performance at the US Open brought an end to his sensational streak of five consecutive top 20 finishes. Despite missing the cut, Ancer still gained 5.2 shots on approach at Torrey Pines last weekend, and he still averages the most strokes gained per round (2.03) of anyone in this field since the Masters.

When looking at his form against the field this week, Ancer ranks fifth in ball striking, eighth off the tee and ninth on approach over his past 50 rounds. He also ranks second in par four scoring in that time (which will be important this week as TPC River Highlands  features 12 par fours them), and he is 15th in birdie looks inside 15 feet. As well as that, Ancer has finished eighth and 11th in his last two starts at the Travelers Championship and he has gained the most strokes of anyone in the field at Pete Dye courses over the past 24 rounds.
