#10 Oregon vs #17 Utah – 8pm ET

These two teams will meet for the second time this season. Back on November 20th, Oregon and Utah met in Salt Lake City and it was all Utes in that game. Utah went on to win 38-7 and effectively ended any hope the Oregon Ducks and the PAC-12 Conference had at making the College Football Playoffs. Now, these two will meet again, this time with a PAC-12 Championship up for grabs.

Michael Lantz

Oregon and Utah face off for the second time in two weeks, with the last time being an utter disaster for this Oregon team. Oregon was ranked in the top four; in position for a College Football Playoff spot. Utah ended that, not only beating the Ducks but embarrassing them 38-7. Now appearing in their third Pac-12 Championship in four years, the Utes look to win their first.

They can’t expect it to be that easy this time around, as Oregon will undoubtedly be hungry for revenge. It’ll be up to their defense to take care of that, which despite having top recruits has been pretty disappointing this season. They’ll depend heavily on star running back Travis Dye to carry the offense and add on to his already impressive 17 touchdowns on the year.

Meanwhile, the Utes will be hungry to obtain that first Pac-12 Championship, as they’ll continue to run the ball to success as they’ve done all year, averaging 218.2 yards per game on the ground. Their balance on both sides of the ball will be essential, as it’s often difficult to beat the same team twice, especially in a matter of weeks. The Utes have been a thrill to watch, but I expect the hurt to continue; these are the games Oregon are built for, they won’t let Utah run over them again especially when it’s for a Pac-12 Championship, a trophy that they’ll look to make their own for the third straight season.

Michael’s College Football Pick: Oregon (+116)

Tony Battalio

This is a rematch of a game that happened just a few short weeks ago. In their first meeting Utah put a beating on the Oregon Ducks and knocked them out of college football playoff contention. Now Oregon will be looking for revenge as this meeting will decide the winner of the PAC 12 conference. Oregon was expected to be here when the season began but not many people expected the Utah Utes to be in this position. Both teams are coming into this game nationally ranked to end the regular season.

Oregon comes into this game fresh off of a win over their rival Oregon State and what people call the Civil War game. That win over there in the state rival gave them their 10th win on the year and they finished with a 10-2 record overall. As for Utah they picked up a big win over the Colorado Buffaloes but capped off a five-game winning streak to finish the regular season at 9-3. As for the result of this game, I expect more of the same from their previous matchup and I look for the Utah Utes to dominate on their way to a PAC 12 Championship.

Tony’s College Football Pick: Utah (-142)

Noah Dunlap

In a rematch of a game that cost Oregon a chance to play in the College Football Playoff, the Ducks look to get some revenge on the Utah Utes. The Utes absolutely obliterated Oregon in the first matchup, 38-7, and with the way they’ve been playing since an early-season loss to San Diego State in Week 3, I’m not sure that the result changes in this one. They’ve only lost once since Week 3, a tight loss to Oregon State, and they’ve looked like the best team in the conference through virtually the entire conference season.

Oregon comes into this one disappointed with the ending to their season, as they were primed and ready to get back to the CFP. With a huge win over Ohio State in Week 2 and only one slip to Stanford, they were sitting at number 3 and only needed to finish out the year to advance. And then they ran across Utah and got demolished. With Utah still being healthy and getting another chance against the same team that kept them out of the Playoff last year, I like the Utes to get the win in this one, albeit in a closer fashion than their first matchup this year.

Noah’s College Football Pick: Utah (-142)

#5 Oklahoma State v #9 Baylor  – 12pm ET

This game is yet another rematch for a conference championship, however, there are college football playoff hopes on the line in this game. Earlier this season the Baylor Bears fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys by 10 points, effectively ending their shot at the playoffs. Now they have the chance to play the spoiler the second time around.

Michael Lantz

Oklahoma State and Baylor both had incredible wins this past weekend to secure a spot in the Big 12 Championship. David Aranda’s Baylor team won 27-24 over Texas Tech, despite the Red Raiders constantly staying in the game up until they missed a potential game-tying field goal as time expired. Now Baylor gets another shot at an Oklahoma State team they lost two earlier in the season 24-14.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State put on an exceptional show at the Bedlam Series against their rivals the Oklahoma Sooners. The Cowboys outscored the Sooners 13-0 in the fourth to win a thriller and keep their hopes of playing in a college football playoff alive. If they can win this game and Alabama loses to Georgia, their odds seem favorable. But, first, they need to beat a Baylor team that has one of the nation’s ten best rushing attacks. As I said in the previous post for the Pac-12 Championship, it’s hard to beat the same team twice. Oklahoma State’s last win against Baylor was just a couple of months ago, but it feels like an eternity. Still, I think it’s definitely possible that their great Bedlam win will carry them into Saturday in what should be a great game against the Baylor Bears. It’s a Big-12 game, which means a whole lot of offense. So, even though the game total was 38 last time around, I expect these teams to go all out on the offensive front and carry the game over its predicted 46.5 total.

Michael’s College Football Pick: Over 46.5 (-110)

Tony Battalio

This will be the first game of the weekend that has college football playoff hopes hinging on the results. It is pretty cut and dry for the Cowboys of Oklahoma State. A win would likely put them into the top four for the first time ever. However, for the Baylor Bears, they would need absolute chaos to find their way into the playoffs this season. Baylor would likely need Alabama, Michigan, and Cincinnati to all lose to have a shot at the national title. These two teams met earlier in the season and it was the Oklahoma State Cowboys who came out on top by a score of 24-14.

Baylor comes into this game ranked ninth in the country and on a three-game winning streak that helped them finish 10-2 on the season. Oklahoma State comes into this game with one loss on the year as they finished the season with a five-game winning streak. The lone loss for the Cowboys came to Iowa State, as both them and Baylor took down Oklahoma near the end of the season to ruin what is likely the Sooners final Big 12 season. As for the result of this game I look for the Baylor Bears to flip the script and pick up the win in the second meeting of the year between these two.

Tony’s College Football Pick: Baylor (+186)

Noah Dunlap

The Big 12 Conference Championship game is yet another rematch of a matchup we’ve already seen in the regular season. In that game, we watched Oklahoma State manage to pull out a 10-point win over Baylor. The question now is can they repeat that same performance on a bigger stage. With the Cowboys featuring one of the best defenses in the country, and an offense that can sneak up on teams that try to overlook them, I think this is a team that can certainly make the argument that they should be a playoff team, especially with a win this weekend.

One important thing to keep in mind in this one is that the regular season matchup came long before anyone took Baylor to be an actual contender. With QB Gerry Bohanon playing great football, and a defense led by Dave Aranda that is always going to perform at a high level, this is a different Bears team from early this season. It’s hard to beat the same team twice in the same season, and with Baylor signing Aranda to an extension last week, I think the players come out with more energy and enthusiasm knowing that their coach isn’t bailing this offseason. Give me the Bears to pull off the upset, taking away any chance that OSU had to slide into the CFP. Sic ‘em, indeed.

Noah’s College Football Pick: Baylor (+186)

#21 Houston @ #4 Cincinnati – 4pm ET

Cincinnati has history to make, while the Houston Cougars will be looking to break Bearcat hearts in this one. Both these teams come into this game with impressive winning streaks. Houston lost game 1 but went on to win the next 11, while Cincinnati has won all 12 games this season, they have captured their second straight undefeated regular season in the process. This game for the AAC title is by far the most compelling of the week in most people’s eyes.

Michael Lantz

In a make-or-break game for the Cincinnati Bearcats, the #4 team in the country will take on the Houston Cougars, where a win should take them to the College Football Playoffs. Houston will be no easy task, as the Cougars have been an offensive juggernaut since their season-opening loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. They’re ranked in the top 25 in the nation for passing yards and points. Luke Fickell will have his hands full in what could be one of his last games with the Bearcats (he’s in demand for multiple coaching positions).

For Cincinnati, Houston will be far and away their toughest opponent since they won a huge game against Notre Dame back in October. Since then Cincinnati hasn’t exactly blown out every opponent they’ve played (close games against Navy and Tulsa), but at the end of the day, a win is a win. Now, they’ll have to prove their worth to take on the Power Five dogs with a win over a streaking Cougars team. I really want to see some new blood in the playoffs, but I’m just not totally convinced in Cincinnati. This just seems like that situation where they’ve been running down an open field…only to be tackled at the one-yard line. Still, I don’t fully have it in me to go against them. I think the safest pick is for Houston to cover.

Michael’s College Football Pick: Houston Cougars +10.5 (-118)

Tony Battalio

Cincinnati is on the edge of breaking the glass ceiling. They look to become the first group of five team to ever make the college football playoff. They have raced their way to an undefeated record this season including being the only team to beat Notre Dame as they broke the Irish’s lengthy home winning streak. Luke Fickell is a Hot name on the coaching market right now as there have been a bunch of movies already. However, it is looking more and more unlikely that he will leave Cincinnati as they prepare for a move to the Big 12 in a few years.

The Houston Cougars have looked at the price of this year if they drop their opener but then rallied for 11 victories in a row to close out the season. Due to the American Athletic Conference schedule, these two teams did not face off in the regular season. Which in my opinion makes this game all the more interesting to go along with everything it already has on the line. As for the result of this game I look for the Cincinnati Bearcats to pick up the win and make history in the process as they will be the first group of five team to ever compete for a national title.

Tony’s College Football Pick: Cincinnati (-430)

Noah Dunlap

Can Cincinnati wrap up an undefeated season and finally become the first Group of 5 school to make the College Football Playoff? They have the talent to do so, with Desmond Ridder under center, and Jerome Ford rushing for over 1,000 yards this year, the offense is there, but can they play good enough to knock off a Houston team that has surprised a lot of people with their play so far this year, especially later on in the season. It also doesn’t help matters that head coach Luke Fickell is being mentioned for the Notre Dame opening, and I think that’s one that he would actually take.

With Dana Holgorsen leading the Cougars, it was only a matter of time before Houston showed up on the national stage, at least at the Group of 5 level. Now they have the chance to show up in a major way and pull off a massive upset. And I think they do. For me, Cincinnati has played too many close games where they play dead for a half before turning it on in the second half. That’s worked so far against a sub-par schedule, but eventually, that’s going to catch up to them, and against a stingy Houston team I think we finally see it happen. The Bearcats won’t end up Playoff-bound after being upset here, and we can all blame the Cougs for why we still don’t have a non-Power 5 school in the postseason.

Noah’s College Football Pick: Houston (+320)

#1 Georgia v #3 Alabama – 4pm ET

Alabama is fighting for their playoff life in this game while the Georgia Bulldogs are seemingly locked in win or loss. Georgia is looking to become the new face of the SEC, while Alabama is out to show that they are not ready to step away without a fight.

Michael Lantz

On paper,  this SEC Championship looks like the game of the year, as these two rivals go head-to-head for what is essentially the regular season championship. Georgia’s Kirby Smart goes against the team he spent many years as a defensive coordinator for and the team he lost the National Championship against four years ago. Smart remains the defensive genius he was with the Crimson Tide, as his Bulldog defense leads the nation allowing only 6.9 points per game. Defense wins championships, and along with an offense that plays smart instead of flashy, the Bulldogs look to inch closer to their first claimed national title since 1980.

The Crimson Tide have been here plenty of times before. Their inconsistent defense, early season loss against Texas A&M, and number three ranking—none of that matters come Wednesday. This team is built for these games. They’ll take the underdog status with a chip on their shoulder and show the college football world that they’re still the top dogs. It’ll be a great chance for quarterback Bryce Young to show he’s this year’s Heisman favorite. A big win against the number one team, will almost solidify his name among the Heisman greats.

In the end these two rivals which feature a premier offense vs a premier defense and Nick Saban vs. his protege Kirby Smart. This one has all the makings to be one for the ages, I hate not being able to take a winner, but I’m gonna go with another safe pick for this one and take Alabama to undoubtedly cover.

Michael’s College Football Pick: Alabama +6.5 (-114)

Tony Battalio

Georgia is looking to become a new king of the SEC but first they will have to take down the old guard in the Crimson Tide of Alabama. The Bulldogs have looked absolutely dominant on their way to an undefeated season; no team has even come close to them with the way their defense has played. Alabama on the other hand have not looked like the Alabama we are used to as they struggled through the season and nearly lost multiple games. While Georgia is certainly a lock for the college football playoff Alabama will almost certainly need a victory to find their way in this season.

If you glance at the respective bodies of work of both teams this season logic will tell you this game should not be close at all. However, it is Alabama and it is never wise to count them out until the clock hits zero. We all saw the perfect example of that in the iron bowl last week as Auburn gave away a two-possession lead with around two minutes to go in the game. Finally, in the fourth overtime, Alabama would complete their comeback and keep their hopes alive for the playoffs. As for the result of this game, I think Georgia wins but I think it’s a lot closer than people expect.

Tony’s College Football Pick: Georgia (-250)

Noah Dunlap

Georgia has been the best team in college football this year, and it hasn’t been close. With a defense that is giving up virtually nothing, led by Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean and an offense that isn’t necessarily explosive, but absolutely has the talent to show some sparks when needed, and it’s not hard to see why. But now they get Alabama in the SEC title game, and it’s their toughest matchup of the year.

fanduel sign up bonus

On the other sideline, Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide has been a bit underwhelming for much of the year. The offensive line has been extremely shaky, and outside of Jameson Williams, and John Metchie at times, the wide receivers haven’t played all that well either. However, while those two groups have struggled, QB Bryce Young is arguably the favorite to win the Heisman at this point, and the defense has been outstanding, led by Will Anderson, who, while he isn’t getting the attention, also has Heisman caliber numbers on the defensive side of the ball. Auburn should’ve beaten Alabama last week in the Iron Bowl, which would’ve knocked the Tide out of contention, however, a bizarre decision from Tank Bigsby ultimately cost them the game and gave Alabama another chance to right the ship. A Nick Saban-coached team is not a team to give second chances to, and I think ‘Bama proves that this weekend. I think the Tide will pull off the upset and assure that two SEC teams end up in the CFP.

Noah’s College Football Pick: Alabama (+198)

#2 Michigan v #13 Iowa – 8pm ET

Michigan finally makes their first appearance in the Big Ten Conference Championship Game after beating the Ohio State Buckeyes for the first time in a decade. The Iowa Hawkeyes will be looking to ruin Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines party, and claim the Big Ten for themselves.

Michael Lantz

Last Saturday, Michigan got the win they’ve waited nearly a decade to recapture, as they beat their bitter rivals Ohio State in the 2021 edition of “The Game.” Now Michigan gets to follow that win with a Big Ten Championship showdown against another tough opponent in the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Aside from the solid running of tailback Tyler Goodson, nothing about the Hawkeyes necessarily stands out on paper. They’re a traditional Big Ten team that’s used to getting gritty wins. They’ll try to use that attitude to stifle this Michigan team. They’ll have their hands full with Michigan running back Hassan Haskins who tallied five touchdowns against Ohio State. He’s not ready to be done yet, as he looks to burst through a Hawkeyes team that is definitely strong, but not outstanding. After Michigan got past the psychological hump that Ohio State presents, they’ve got to feel a sense of relief. While they can’t look past Iowa, I certainly expect them to be cool and collected and ride out a victory to the College Football Playoffs.

Michael’s College Football Pick: Michigan (-500)

Tony Battalio

It took an entire decade but the University of Michigan has finally got the monkey off their back as they beat Ohio State. Not only did they vanquish the demon that is the Buckeyes to them they also knocked Ohio State out of college football playoff contention. Doing so in the process they have set themselves up to make their first-ever college football playoff appearance as well. However, will be no easy task as I still have to deal with Iowa and find a way to leave Indianapolis with a win.

If not for a few mistakes in clutch moments Michigan would likely be undefeated coming into this game however they did lose to their rival Michigan State. Although as we see now they did not hurt them that much as they are still in a position to make a run at a title. It could turn out to be a really sweet year for Michigan fans. Not only have they virtually knocked the Spartans out of the playoffs they also knocked the Buckeyes out of the playoffs and with a victory could potentially keep their other rival Notre Dame out as well. As for the result of this one, Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines have been known to choke in big games and I think the law of averages catches up to them if they choke again in the Big Ten title game. That is why I’m going with the Iowa Hawkeyes in this one.

Tony’s College Football Pick: Iowa (+360)

Noah Dunlap

No upset will be taking place in this one. Coming off a big-time performance over rival Ohio State, Michigan and Jim Harbaugh has finally exorcised some demons and have arrived in the Big Ten title game looking like one of the best teams in football. The offense has looked extremely solid as of late, and while the defense has looked iffy at times, they’ve shown up when needed.

They get Iowa in this one, and while Iowa was ranked as high as number 2 this year, they just aren’t that good. The Hawkeyes defense is fantastic, but the offense has been absolutely abysmal, and that ends up costing them in this one. We get an extremely low-scoring ballgame, think 21-13 or so, but one that Michigan controls for much of the way, giving them their first Big Ten title since 2004, a year that they split the title with these same Iowa Hawkeyes. I don’t like the spread in this one, so instead, just take what you can with a Michigan Moneyline pick and be confident in it.

Noah’s College Football Pick: Michigan (-500)
