#1 Alabama vs #3 Georgia – 8pm ET

Michael Lantz

This year’s College Football National Championship is a rematch of the SEC Championship Game, as the Alabama Crimson Tide face the Georgia Bulldogs. When these two teams matched up a little over a month ago, Alabama was able to shock Georgia’s top-ranked defense, beating them 41-24, after a massive 24-point second quarter. It furthered Georgia’s Kirby Smart’s losing streak against Nick Saban to 0-4, as he has been unable to figure out his old boss and the team he was defensive coordinator for from 2008-2015. He hopes to finally snap that skid in the biggest game of the year a game he lost to Saban in the 2018 National Championship, despite having a 13-0 lead. Georgia looked almost perfect in the National Semifinal as they defeated a great Michigan team 34-11. Quarterback Stetson Bennett, threw over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns and the Bulldogs will rely heavily on him now that they know they can’t solely trust on their defense when facing Alabama.

After an early-season loss against Texas A&M, the Crimson Tide did what they do best a dominated the rest of the way, including running over Georgia in the SEC Title Game. It launched them back to a number one ranking and gave them the underdog #4 Cincinnati in their semifinal. They never seemed to worry about the Bearcats, as they surged to a 27-6 victory after a huge 198 yards on the ground from Brian Robinson Jr. They also got some solid stats from a certain Heisman winner named Bryce Young, who threw 3 touchdowns himself. I think this rematch will end up being closer than the SEC Title Game, but I just can’t be confident in picking Georgia when they have yet to figure Alabama out. The Crimson Tide is too dominant on both sides of the ball, and while I think it’ll be a good game, I’m going with Bama.

Michael’s College Football Pick: Alabama +2.5 (-105)

Tony Battalio

The number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are back once again looking to win their second straight College Football Playoff National Championship. Led by Nick Saban the Crimson Tide has been the most dominant team in the sport throughout the 2000s. This season has been much of the same, although with possibly one of the worst Bama teams to ever make it to a National Title game. They lost to Texas A&M on the road and had to avoid several upsets to get here, and not to mention beat Georgia in the SEC title game, which they did in impressive fashion.

The Georgia Bulldogs are once again trying to shake their demon, that is Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the process, they will also be looking for their first national championship in 42 years. They have always had their hands full with Alabama starting with the national championship a few years back where Bama won in overtime on a Hail Mary, which kick-started the legend of Tua Tagovailoa. They again in this year’s Southeastern Conference championship game. The Bulldogs came is as the best team in the nation and their world-class defense was picked apart by Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. Truthfully as for the result of this game, I have a repeat of the conference title game as I look for Alabama to add yet another national title to their resume.

Tony’s College Football Pick: Alabama (+115)

Noah Dunlap

The Alabama Crimson Tide, a team that has become a mainstay in the National Championship game, is back again, this time getting ready to take on Georgia for the second time in the past four seasons for the title. These two teams have already played once this season, with Alabama getting the easy win in the SEC title game, behind a masterful performance from Heisman winner Bryce Young. Now, a month later, we get the same team, but there are a few injuries that could impact things. The Tide O-line has a few injuries that could cause players to miss, and wide receiver John Metchie is out after being injured in that SEC title game.

For Georgia, it’s largely the same team, with virtually no new injuries that should impact anything. The defense is still phenomenal, led by Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis, as they showed in the CFP semi over Michigan, and the offense continues to quietly put up great numbers as well, behind QB Stetson Bennett. As for this one though, I’ve always doubted Kirby Smart’s ability to actually win a title, as I’ve also done with Stetson Bennett under center, and it doesn’t help that they yet again face the best college coach in history on the opposite sideline in Nick Saban. I think we get a closer game than we saw in the SEC title game, but I think the result remains unchanged. Give me the Tide to once again roll to another championship.

Noah’s College Football Pick: Alabama +2.5 (-105)
