Which Teams Are the Best College Football Betting Options?

Which Teams Are the Best College Football Betting Options?
Thu 3rd December 2020

It’s tough to figure who the best college football betting options are out there, but we at SportsTips have a few ideas for what you should consider heading into the late part of the 2020 season.

The Tide Remains Strong

Alabama coach Nick Saban missed a few games due to positive tests, but that hasn’t stopped the Crimson Tide from being the nation’s top team. Quarterback Mac Jones is one of the game’s top passers, leading the Tide to about 350 passing yards a game. The Tide has had only one game where they scored less than forty points.

The Irish Winning a Conference Title?

Notre Dame was forced into being an ACC member for the 2020 season. But the Fighting Irish could win the ACC championship, as the team is 9-0 heading into their two final games. The team has given up more than twenty points in just three games, and one of them was a victory over then-top-ranked Clemson.

Watch For Clemson

Much has been made about the Clemson Tigers’ Trevor Lawrence missing some games due to a positive test. But while D.J. Uiagalelei proved to be a viable temporary replacement, Lawrence has come back like nothing happened. He threw for more than 400 yards against Pittsburgh in his first game in a month.

Running back Travis Etienne remains a good second option, as the Tigers should have a good shot at the ACC title. But the Tigers would have to defeat Notre Dame after losing in two overtimes. But that game was in South Bend and without Lawrence.

Do the Bearcats Stand a Chance?

The Cincinnati Bearcats have the best shot of any Group of Five team to reach the playoffs. The 8-0 Cats feature a strong two-part running game with Gerrid Doaks and quarterback Desmond Ridder taking the lead.

Are the Buckeyes Worthwhile?

The Ohio State Buckeyes remain the best college football betting choice in the Big Ten. But the Buckeyes are 4-0 and had two of their games cancelled this year. They’ll be ineligible to compete for the Big Ten title if they cancel one more game.

The Buckeyes’ remaining games include ones against Michigan State and Michigan, and they’d compete in the Big Ten title game against Northwestern or Iowa if they make it there. Expect quarterback and possible top-five NFL pick Justin Fields to remain a threat for the Buckeyes.

Don’t Forget BYU

The BYU Cougars are feeling disrespected by the college playoff selection committee. The team is 9-0, but they aren’t ranked all that high. But quarterback Zach Wilson is leading the Cougars with about 330 passing yards per game, making them an interesting choice. The Cougars also have quality wins over Houston, Boise State, and Navy.

Is Coastal Carolina Worth Checking Out?

Coastal Carolina has become an interesting team as of late. The Chanticleers are 9-0 and are on top of the Sun Belt Conference. The Chants also have quality wins over Louisiana and Appalachian State, and they could land another over Liberty late in the season.
