(1) Gonzaga vs (5) Creighton – 2:10pm ET

Gonzaga (28-0) opened the tournament with a decisive 98-55 victory over Norfolk State. They then defeated Oklahoma, 87-71. The Bulldogs shot 49.1% from the field and 88.5% from the free-throw line.

Drew Timme had a huge contest, scoring 30 points and adding 13 rebounds. He was nine of 12 shooting from the field and went 12 of 14 from the free-throw line. Corey Kispert and Jalen Suggs each recorded 16 points.

Timme is having an outstanding postseason run, averaging 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He is shooting 68.4% from the field, and stepped up his game at the free-throw line, now hitting 69.0% of free-throw attempts.

Kispert is averaging 17.5 points per game. Joel Ayayi is hitting 55.3% of his shots and 50.0% of three-point attempts, averaging 15.3 points per game. 


Creighton (22-8) began the tournament with a 63-62 victory over UC-Santa Barbara, then downed Ohio, 72-58. The defense held the Bobcats to just 31.8% shooting from the field, including 23.3% from three-point range.

Marcus Zegarowski scored 20 points to lead the Bluejays. Christian Bishop recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. All five starters for Creighton scored in double digits.

Zegarowski led the team in scoring at 15.4 ppg. He is shooting 44.2% from the field. Four other players average in double digits during the regular season, including Bishop at 11.2 points per game. He was the leading rebounder at 6.1 per contest and shot 69.1% from the field, tops on the team.

(1) Michigan vs (4) Florida State – 5pm ET

Michigan (22-4) opened the tournament with an 82-66 victory over Texas Southern. They defeated LSU last Monday, 86-78. The Wolverines shot an impressive 53.8% from the field led by Eli Brooks with 21 points and seven assists.

He was 7 of 11 shooting, including five of nine from three-point range. Chaundee Brown came off the bench to score 21 points. Hunter Dickinson had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Dickinson led the team in scoring during the regular season at 14.3 ppg. He was also the leading rebounder at 7.7 per contest. The Wolverines are one of the best rebounding teams in the country, with three players averaging better than six boards per contest.

Isaiah Livers is averaging 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Franz Wagner is averaging 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Livers has a foot injury and is done for the season.


Florida State (18-6) opened the tournament with a 65-54 victory over UNC-Greensboro, then downed Colorado, 71-53. This was a tight, low-scoring affair as the Seminoles took a 24-20 lead into the half. However, they nearly doubled their output in the second half.

Florida State shot 52.2% from the field. Anthony Polite led the team with 22 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Malik Osborne was the only other player to record double digits, coming off the bench to score 11 points.

M.J. Walker led the team in scoring with 13.1 ppg. Raquan Gray is averaging 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He is shooting 52.6% from the field. Scottie Barnes is the only other player averaging in double digits at 10.4 points per game. He is also averaging 4.3 points and 4.3 assists per game.

(2) Alabama vs (11) UCLA – 7:15pm ET

Alabama (26-6) opened the tournament with a 68-55 victory over Iona, then crushed Maryland last Monday, 96-77. The Razorbacks shot 53.0% from the field, including 48.5% from three-point range, helping them to jump out to an eight-point lead at half.

Alabama hit all 10 free-throw attempts. Jaden Schakelford scored 21 off six of 11 shooting and John Petty added 20. Petty also added six rebounds.

Shackelford averaged 14.4 ppg during the regular season. Petty was second on the team in scoring at 12.9 points per game and averaged 5.1 rebounds per contest. He shot 44.6% from the field and is a 76.0% free-throw shooter.

Herbert Jones led the team in rebounds at 6.1 per game while averaging 10.9 points per contest. He is shooting 45.1% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range.


UCLA (20-9) defeated BYU to open up the tournament, 73-62. They then knocked off Abilene Christian on Monday, 67-47. The Bruins jumped out to a 10-point lead at the half, and doubled it by the time this contest was over.

The Wildcats struggled against this UCLA defense, hitting 29.8% of their shots and only 21.1% of three-point attempts. UCLA shot 46.6% from the field, led by Johnny Juzang with 17 points. Cody Riley had a double-double with 12 rebounds and 12 points.

Juzang led the team in scoring during the regular season at 14.2 ppg. Juzang shot 40.9% from the field and is a 93.3% free-throw shooter. Chris Smith was the leading rebounder for UCLA but is out for the season. Three other players are averaging in double digits for the Bruins. That includes Jaime Jaquez at 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

(6) USC vs (7) Oregon – 9:45pm ET

USC (24-7) opened the tournament with a 72-56 victory over Drake, then blew out Kansas last Monday, 85-51. The Trojans held the Jayhawks to just 29.0% shooting, including 24.0% from three-point range.

USC was lighting up, hitting on 57.1% of their shots, including 61.1% from three-point range. Isaiah Mobley led the team in scoring with 17 points and brother Evan recorded a double-double, adding 13 rebounds and 10 points.

Evan Mobley leads the team in scoring at 16.1 ppg and is the leading rebounder at 8.6 per contest. He is shooting an impressive 58.2% from the field. Tahj Eaddy is second in scoring at 13.8 points per game, averaging 45.2% from the field. Isaiah Mobley is averaging 9.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.


Oregon (22-6) advanced to the second round after VCU opted out of playing their first-round match up. They defeated Iowa on Monday, 95-80. The Ducks shot 55.9% from the field and 44.0% from three-point range.

Four players scored at least 17 points, led by Chris Duarte with 23. He was nine of 12 shooting and added seven assists. LJ Figueroa scored 21 and added seven rebounds.

Duarte is the leading scorer at 17.3 ppg. He is shooting 53.3% from the field and 80.6% from the free-throw line. Eugene Omoruyi is averaging 16.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He is a 46.8% shooter from the floor.
