St John’s vs Creighton

The No. 9 Creighton Bluejays will face off against the St. John’s Red Storm this Thursday in a Big East battle.

The Red Storm will have fond memories of playing the Bluejays, having recently pulled off a 91-71 upset win against the then No. 10 ranked Creighton Bluejays in March of this year.

Although this is a new college basketball season, the returning Bluejays will have marked this game down long ago as their chance at redemption.

Currently with a 5-3 record, St. John’s will come into Thursday’s matchup having lost their past two games against Seton Hall (77-68) and Georgetown (97-94).

Julian Champagine is one of four St. John’s players averaging 10+ points. Champagine is leading the way offensively with 20.8 ppg, Vince Cole with 12.5 ppg, Greg Williams Jnr with 12.1 ppg and Isaih Moore with 10.6 ppg.

Greg Williams Jr. was especially on fire the last time these two teams met, finishing 7-of-10 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points.

Creighton will be fired up for this Thursday’s matchup, not only for their chance at redemption against St. John’s, but also after recently upset by Marquette in their Big East conference opener.

Still the +275 second favourite to win the Big East, the Bluejays should bounce back against St. John’s (+10000) in a nail biting Big East clash.

College basketball pick – Creighton by 6.

Texas Tech vs Kansas

The No. 14 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders will host the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks in both programs Big 12 openers.

With both team’s having started the year 6-1, Thursday’s game between the Red Raiders and the Jayhawks is set to be highly competitive.

Texas Tech are now at No. 14 in the AP rankings, climbing three spots as a result of their four-game winning streak. While Kansas remained in the No. 5 positions.

After losing their opening game to No. 1 Gonzaga, Kansas have won six out of six games.

Freshman forward Jalen Wilson has been the standout player for the Jayhawks, averaging a team high in points (15.3) and rebounds (8.7) so far this season.

Texas Tech are also entering this game with a winning streak behind them, having won each of their past four outings.

Mac McClung leads the Red Raiders with 14.1 points per game and now has 22 assists for the season following a season-high six assists in the recent win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Despite having inferior odds of winning the Big 12, No. 14 Texas Tech (+650) should upset Kansas (+175) in a nail biting win at home.

The Red Raiders are a lockdown defensive team, only allowing 51.6 opposition points through their seven games this season, which should be enough to hold off the highly talented Jayhawks team.

College basketball pick – Texas Tech by 2.
