Arizona State vs San Diego State
No. 24 ranked San Diego State Aztecs are set to face off against No. 23 Arizona State Sun Devils in what will be a riveting matchup between two top 25 teams.
Undefeated through four games, the Aztecs couldn’t have got off to a better start to their 2020 season. San Diego State have defeated UCLA, UC Irvine and St Katherine’s by 15 or more points as well as recently registering a 65-60 win over Pepperdine last weekend, improving to 4-0.
Junior guard Jordan Schakel has been instrumental to the Aztecs success so far this season averaging 13 points and 3 rebounds per game. Alongside Schakel is senior forward Matt Mitchell who is putting up 12.3 points per game. Despite the impressive offensive output that both Schakel and Mitchell have displayed, San Diego State do not rely heavily on one star, with 10 players currently playing double-digit minutes.

The 3-1 Arizona State Sun Devils will host San Diego State on Thursday night. Arizona State have recorded impressive wins against Rhode Island, HBU and California so far this season, with their one blemish coming against No. 9 ranked Villanova, where they were defeated 83-74.
Averaging just under 18 points per game at an impressive 56 percent from the field, Arizona State guard Remy Martin will undoubtedly be the best player on the floor for Thursday’s game against San Diego State. Martin, along with Josh Christopher combined for 36 points on 14/23 shooting in the Sun Devils 70-62 win against California last Thursday.
Despite leaving the California game with a mild calf injury, there is a good chance that star Sun Devils freshman Marcus Bagley will be available for Thursday’s matchup against the Aztecs. Arizona State will also welcome back Alonzo Verge who has been on the side lines due Covid-19 contact tracing. Verge is a quality scorer, averaging 15.0 points per game.

While San Diego State have had an impressive start to the college basketball season, their offense will struggle to put up points against a strong Arizona State team who have forced 71 opposition turnovers though just four games. If the Sun Devils can continue their defensive ferocity, Remy Martin and co. should have no trouble edging out the Aztecs at home on Thursday.
