Texas vs Villanova

The Texas vs Villanova matchup will be one of the closest in the college basketball season thus far. Texas stand tall, undefeated from four matches. The side snagged the W at the Maui Invitational, with a huge victory over North Carolina in the title game.

Guard, Matt Coleman, took home more than just a trophy, with a whopping 22 points and three assists. Courtney Ramey followed in close pursuit, with 13 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds.

Also coming for the double-digits was Kai Jones, who claimed 12 points, 2 assists and 8 rebounds. The side have been dominating on the glass lately, and show no signs of slowing down.

Villanova have also had a superb start to the season, with 3 wins of 4 under their belt, knocked down only by Virginia Tech last Sunday.

The team, ranked 12th, should face their toughest challenge yet in undefeated Texas, but if anyone can put a halt in their unbroken run, it’s Villanova.

Georgetown vs West Virginia

The Big 12 / Big East College Basketball Challenge will go on – with the West Virginia Mountaineers laced up and ready to take on the Georgetown Hoyas.

Georgetown will come into the match with a 1-1 record, with a close loss to Navy on Wednesday. The team battled strongly until the final moments of the match, where they were sniped 78-71.

Their season opener wasn’t as grim, however, with Georgetown taking down UMBC 70-62. But this match will be a much tougher challenge for the Hoyas.

West Virginia are looking like the side to beat this season – with 3 wins from 4 matches. Their only loss was on Thursday, to No. 1 placed Gonzaga. The side came in locked and loaded, giving the Bulldogs a run for their money.

It was a close matchup, with WV finishing 87-82, with a loss of 5-points. The Mountaineers look like they’ll take home the title – and Georgetown look to put up little fight.

MI State vs Western MI

The Michigan sparring match continues into 2020 – and we, wouldn’t want to be Western MI this year.

MI State took down Duke at home keeping them to 5-from-23 3-pointers. This went down in the history books – as MI’s first win at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Moreover, it was the first time since 1995 that Duke fell in a non-conference home game by more than two points.

Western MI, unfortunately, haven’t been looking so hot. The side lost to Butler in a close clash, 66-62. This is their only matchup of the season thus far, giving MI State an even bigger bonus in terms of competitiveness.

Texas Tech vs Grambling St

The last matchup between these two sides was almost a decade ago in 2012, and resulted in a 91-56 win in Texas Tech’s favor. It’s looking to head in a pretty similar direction this Sunday, especially considering Texas’ hot form as of late.

The side knocked down NW State 101-58 in their first clash of the season, and continued the winning streak, 84-52 against SAMHOU last Saturday. They didn’t lose a game until this week, when Houston pipped the W 64-53.

Grambling St hasn’t been as fortunate. The side have taken home 1 victory from 3, against E. Texas Bapt. on Thursday. It was a close call for the squad, with a final result of 68-59.

They fell to Grand Canyon 69-53 in their season opener, and didn’t improve from there, also toppling to Arizona, 74-55. They’re going to have to improve their game offensively and defensively to come even close to Texas Tech.

Georgia Tech vs Kentucky

Georgia Tech have had a great start to the year, despite not winning a match.

The side have come close twice, just falling to the Georgia State Panthers 120-123. Forward Moses Wright shot an insane 31 points, also leveraging 2 assists and 19 rebounds. Guard Jose Alvarado also racked up some huge statistics – with 29 points, 4 assists and 10 rebounds.

Their next match saw the side lose to Mercer Bears 73-83. Wright again led the way for the side with 20 points, 1 assist and 5 rebounds. The Yellow Jackets are now looking primed for the win after coming close in the last week. Kentucky looked strong at the start of the season, racking a win on the board in their opener.

But, it’s gone downhill from here, with the side falling to Richmond and Kansas, and are looking to be in a losing slump. They pack their bags for Georgia Tech to play at the State Farm Arena and it’s looking likely they won’t get it done away from home.
